  • Stereolithography is the best known as rapid prototyping system. It uses the STL format data which is generated from CAD system. In this study, One of the main function of this developed CAM system deals with shape modification which divide a shape into two parts or more. The cross section of a STL part by a z-level is composed with nested or single polygonal closed loop. In order to make RP product, closed loops must fill with triangular facets from SSET and recover sliced triangular facets which is located normal direction to the cross sectional plane. The system is development by using Visuall C++ compiler in the environment of pentium PC. Operating system is Windows NT workstaion from Micro-Soft.

  • On the base of experience in development of Magnetic Powder Composites, and particularly Soft Magnetic Composites, authors are trying to systematize classification and indicate possible development prospective of Magnetic Nanocomposites (MN) technology and their applications in electrical converters. Clear classification and systematization, at an early stage of any materials and technology development, are essential and lead for better understanding and communication between researchers and industry involved. This concern MN as well and it seems to be the right time to make it at present stage of their development. Presented proposal of classification distinguishes various types of MN by their magnetic properties and area of possible applications. It is not a close set of types, and can be extended due to increase of knowledge concern these nanocomposites.

  • In this paper, a wind power simulator is designed and implemented. To realize the torque of wind blade, a DC motor is used as a variable torque input device. An induction machine is used as a generator of which speed is controlled to maintain the optimal tip speed ratio during wind speed change. Input torque of system is controlled by armature current of DC motor and speed is controlled by generator control unit using field oriented control algorithm. Various control algorithms such as MPPT, soft start up, the simulator reactive power control, can be developed and tested using the simulator.

  • Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to study the structure and stability of a nanoscale self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of alkanethiol on a gold (111) surface. The tilt angle and orientational order of the alkyl chains in the SAM island were examined by systematically varying the size of the island. The chain length dependence of the SAM island was examined by considering alkanethiols containing 12, 16, 20, and 24 carbon atoms. The minimum diameter of SAM islands made from 1-tetracosanethiol, 1-ecosanethiol, 1-hexadecanethiol and 1-dodecanethiol were 2.29, 1.9, 4.7 and 4.76 nm, respectively. These set the ultimate resolution that can be patterned by soft nanolithography. As the length of alkanethiol increases, the SAM islands became more ordered in both orientation and conformation of the alkyl chains.

  • Optimal Power Flow (OPF) solution by the Newton's method provides a reliable and robust method to classical OPF problems. The major challenge in algorithm development is to identify the binding inequalities efficiently. This paper propose a simple strategy to identify the binding set. From the mechanism of penalty shifting with soft penalty in trial iteration, a active binding sit is identified automatically. This paper also suggests a technique to solve the linear system whore coefficients are presented by the matrix. This implementation is highly efficient for sparsity programming. Case study for 3,5,14,118,190 bus and practrical KEPCO 305 bus system are performed as well.

  • This paper aims to derive a mathematical model of the dynamics of handling tasks in robot fingers which stably grasps and manipulates a rigid object with some dexterity. Firstly, a set of differential equation describing dynamics of the manipulators and object together with geometric constraint of tight area-contacts is formulated by Lagrange's equation. Secondly, problems of controlling both the internal force and the rotation angle of the grasped object under the constraints of tight area-contacts are discussed. The effect of geometric constraints of area-contacts on motion of the overall system is analyzed and a method of computer simulation for differential-algebraic equations of overall...

  • Muffler sound quality of a vehicle has widely been evaluated using commercial softwares. However, the commercial softwares are providing only simple sound quality index. To get better sound quality evaluation method of the muffler, a new approach is suggested based on the subjective sound quality test. The suggested subjective sound quality evaluation method is refined with the fuzzy theory. The developed method is applied for the evaluation of various kinds of vehicle muffler sounds.

  • We are concerned with processing methods of the measurement values of sensors in the control system. When some faults happen to sensor components, the measurement value of sensors cause the malfunction of the plant. So it is necessary to detect and reduce the influence of faults to control with reliability for the overall system. The sensor status must be always good for best demonstration of the controller performance. A self-validating sensor detects the sensor state from the measurement value, reconstruct a soft sensor and can improve reliability of the sensor. If sensor faults, the sensor is detected and reconstructed with the best estimate from its correlation to other sensors and historical data. It is applied to the control of a flexible link system with the sensor fault problems in the light sensor module for position to show the applicability. In this paper, we propose a digital controller which reduces deflection of the moving set-point by reconstructing output of a sensor when the sensor fault is detected.

  • This paper presents an architecture for distributed control systems and its underlying methodological framework. Ideas and concepts of distributed systems, artificial intelligence, and soft computing are merged into a unique architecture to provide cooperation, flexibility, and adaptability required by knowledge processing in intelligent control systems. The distinguished features of the architecture include a local problem solving capability to handle the specific requirements of each part of the system, an evolutionary case-based mechanism to improve performance and optimize controls, the use of linguistic variables as means for information aggregation, and fuzzy set theory to provide local control. A distributed traffic control system application is discussed to provide the details of the architecture, and to emphasize its usefulness. The performance of the distributed control system is compared with conventional control approaches under a variety of traffic situations.

  • This paper presents an analysis of coverage and capacity for the multi-layer CDMA cellular system. The multi-layer CDMA system that shares a common frequency band consists of macrocells for outdoor users and picocells for indoor users. Though macrocells and picocells interfere with each other the capacity of the whole system can be increased, We have analyzed the effect of muual interference upon cell coverage soft handover areas and capacities. The parameters involved in the engineering of the system are discussed. The study results sow that we can control the service coverage of indoor picocells with the system parameters set properly. It is also show that the capacity of the whole system that the capacity of the whole system can be enhanced smoothly by deploying the indoor picocells within existing macrocells.
