Poorly water-soluble ibuprofen and ethanol can be encapsulated in gelatin microcapsule by spray drying technique. To select an optimal formula of ibuprofen-loaded gelatin microcapsule which increased the ethanol content and ibuprofen solubility with the decreased amount of gelatin in the microcapsules, in this study, the effect of gelatin, ibuprofen and sodium lauryl sulfate on the ibuprofen solubility and the amount of ethanol and ibuprofen encapsulated in the gelatin microcapsule were investigated. Ibuprofen solubility and the amount of ethanol encapsulated increased as gelatin and sodium lauryl sulfate increased, reached maximum at 4% and 0.6%, respectively and then followed a rapid decrease. Furthermore, the ibuprofen solubility and the encapsulated ibuprofen content increased as the amount of ibuprofen increased, reaching maximum at 0.5% and beyond that, there was no change in the solubility and ibuprofen content. However, the encapsulated ethanol content remained same irrespective of the amount of ibuprofen. On the basis of increased ibuprofen solubility, our results showed that the formula of ibuprofen-loaded gelatin microcapsule at the ratio of gelatin/ibuprofen/sodium lauryl sulfate/water/ethanol of 4/0.5/0.6/30/70 with ibuprofen solubility of about $290\;{\mu}g/mL$ and ethanol content of about $160\;{\mu}g/mg$ could be a potential oral delivery system for poorly water-soluble ibuprofen.

The effects of the mixture of surfactants on the removal of triolein applied to cotton and polyester fabrics were studied. The sunactants which were usually formulated to the Iriundry detergents, such as sodium dodecyl sulfonate (LAS), sodium lauryl sulfate (AS), $\alpha$-olefin sulfonate (AOS, C=14), sodium laurethoxy sulfate (AES, EO=3) and lauryl ethoxylate (AE, EO=7) were used. Washing was done at 40'C, 60"C, 80'c and the surfactant concentration was 0.05%. Backscattered electron imaging was made to study the location of triolein in the yarns. Triolein was removed easily from polyester than cotton fabrics.01eic acid added triolein wa9 removed greater than triolein only, except in AE solutions. In AE solutions, the removal of triolein was increased as the tremperature went higher and the increasing rate of the removal of triolein only was greater than that of oleic acid added triolein. In the result, more triolein was removed from triolein only than from oleic acid added triolein at 80t When the other surfactant was added to LAS, AES was the best to cotton fabrics, AOS was to polyester fabrics. Triolein was located in the lumen and grooves of the fibers and the deeper interfiber spaces. Triolein did not make thin film arround the cotton fiber in the surface, but polyester fibers. These are the main reason why the removal of triolein was difficult from cotton fabrics.rics.

The transformation of the liquid crystal complex made by binding of anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), into high charge density cationic polymer, the homopolymer of diallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDADMAC) was induced by adding of nonionic surfactants and investigated by means of microscopy and FE.SEM. Among nonionic surfactants in this experiments polyethylene glycol (3 mol) ether of lauryl alcohol (laureth-3) made variation in the complex. The laureth-3 transformed the complex into spherulite vesicle with the size of ca.$100{\mu}m$. This change increased the viscosity and the turbidity of the solution phase separated originally. Microscope showed that they are spherulite particles and polarized microscope suggested they are multi.lamellar liquid crystals. FE-SEM also proved that explicitly.
The transdermal therapeutic system (TTS) of scopolamine has various advantages over its oral dosage forms. The ideal scopolamine TTS requires high skin permeation rate in short time after it is applied on the skin. In order to increase the initial skin permeation rate of scopolamine from TTS, various permeation enhancers were employed. Enhancers employed were fatty acids (oleic and linolenic acids), cyclic monoterpenes (menthol, camphor, cineole and limonene) and others (isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulfate and glyceryl monostearate). The concentration of enhancers in the base were fixed to 5% (w/w). While fatty acids had little enhancing effect on the skin permeation of scopolamine, cyclic monoterpenes, isopropyl myristate and sodium lauryl sulfate resulted in $1.5{\sim}2.6-fold$ higher skin permeation rate of the drug compared to the control. However, lag time was not affected by enhancers studied.
The particle size of medicinal materials is an important physical property which affects the pharmaceutical behaviors such as dissolution, chemical stability, compressibility and bioavailability of solid dosage forms. The size reduction of raw pharmaceutical powder is needed to formulize insoluble drugs or slightly soluble drugs and to improve the pharmaceutical properties such as the solubility, the pharmaceutical mixing and the dispersion. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the grinding characteristics of ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA) as a model of insoluble drugs. The effects of the grinding time and the amount of additive on particle size distribution of ground UDCA were investigated. Grinding of insoluble drug, UDCA and a series of dry co-grinding experiments of UDCA with sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS) as an additive were carried out using a planetary ball mill. It was measured that the median diameter and the particle size distribution of ground products with grinding UDCA and additive SLS by Mastersizer. As a result of co-grinding of UDCA and SLS, the particle size of co-grinding products was decreased more than single grinding one. However, it was observed that co-grinding products were reaggregated to larger particles after 120 min.
The reaction between cyanide ion and triphenyl methane dyes is subject to marked catalysis by cationic micelles of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTABr) and retarded by anionic micelles of sodium lauryl sulfate(NaLS). Added salts, anions inhibit the catalysis by CTABr, and cations, especially $Zn^{++},\;Cd^{++}$ decrease the retardation of the reaction rates in the presence of NaLS. The kinetic effects of the ionic micelles are much larger in water than in ethanol-water, methanol-water, propanol-water and acetone-water, but strange solvent effects, acceleration the reaction rates, was found in the reaction with malachite green in water-methanol system.
Liquid detergent based on sodium lauryl ethoxy sulfate (SLES) as main ingredient sometimes met gelling film on the surface when it is opened in the air. It was assumed because of the change of phase diagram of micelle by concentration change of surfactant, major ingredient of detergent when the water of detergent is evaporated. SLES showed strong hexagonal liquid crystal (LC) in 30~60 wt%, and lamellar LC over 60 wt%. In this research surface gelling formation of liquid detergent which is based on SLES as main ingredient was because of water evaporation. As water of detergent was evaporated, concentration of surfactant became higher. It was checked that surface gelling was LC of mixed surfactant system. Conclusionally we applied alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS) having good solubility, Sodium secondary alkane sulfonate (SAS) preventing hexagonal LC and hydrotrope sodium xylene sulfonate (SXS) and PEG1500 in order to prevent gelling film in SLES based liquid detergent. Like this, improved formula 4 and 5 can prevent the formation of gelling film on the surface of liquid detergent when it is opened in the air.

Simulated liquid waste containing 50 ppm cobalt ion was treated by precipitate flotation using the surfactant of sodium lauryl sulfate. The effects of initial cobalt ion concentration, pH, surfactant concentration, removal time, gas flow rate and foreign ions were estimated on removal efficiency. 35% $H_2O_2$ was added for pre-treatment stage before precipitate flotation. As the result of pre-treatment, optimum removal pH and the pH of treated water being discharged were lowed and optimum removal pH range was broadened. For the result of this experiment, 99.8% removal efficiency was obtained at the condition of 50ppm of initial cobalt ion concentration, pH 9.5, 70 mL/min of gas flow rate, and 30 min of removal time. Attraction between precipitate and surfactant was supposed to be influenced by solubility and chemical affinity among species in sloution as well as zeta potential. The influence of foreign ions such as, $NO_3{^-}$, ${SO_4}^{-2}$, $Na^+$, $Ca^{+2}$ on the removal efficiency was also observed. Removal efficiency by precipitate flotation containing 0.1 M of ${SO_4}^{-2}$ ion decreased to 90% due to the decrease of zeta potential and interruption of precipitation.
Purpose. To prepare PVP-based solid dispersions containing lovastatin (LOS) and solubilizers (sodium lauryl sulfate. Tween80. oleic acid) to enhance dissolution of practically insoluble LOS. Methods. Solid dispersions containing LOS were prepared by dissolving two different organic solvent systems (acetone/ethanol or acetonitrile/ethanol). Results. The stickiness and flowability of solid dispersion powders were dependent on the composition and ratio of the solubilizers. (omitted)
For the purpose of development of the latex suitable for latex modified concrete, experimental researches on the preparation of carboxylated styrene butadiene latex by the method of the two-step emulsion polymerization and application to concrete were performed. Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and sodium salt of lauryl sulfonate were selected as anionic emulsifiers, and nonylphenoxy poly(ethyleneoxy) ethanols (n=10, 20, 40) as latex stabilizer. Potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite were used as redox initiator, besides $Na_2HPO_4$ and $K_2CO_3$ as electrolytes. Polymerization recipe of latex suitable for latex modified concrete were suggested from the experimental researches on the effects of anionic emulsifiers and their concentration on the polymerization stability, and the effect of electrolytes concentration on the particle size of latex. Physical properties, such as slump, air contents, compressive and flexural strength, of latex prepared by suggested polymerization recipe were examined. The experimental results showed that latex modified concrete satisfied the quality standards in slump and air contents. Furthermore, it was turned out that the compressive and the flexural strength of latex modified concrete with 28 days curing time showed appreciably improvements.
