Streptomyces bobili (YS-40) isolated from soil was tested that it had drug resistance against penicillin, cephalosporin series antibiotics and other antibiotics in the previous paper. The treatment of Streptomyces bobili, (YS-40) with ethidium bromide (EtBr), acriflavine and sodium dodecyl sulfate. (SDS) resulted in the elimination of R-plasmid from the host strain. Minimum growth inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of Hg, Ag, penicillin-G, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, oxytetracycline, streptomycin and kanamycin were found to be 15, 10, > 3, 000, > 100, > 1, 000, > 100, < 5 and < 5$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ respectively. Among the curing agents, EtBr was proved to be the most powerful compound for the elimination of R-plasmid in the strain and the elimination rate with EtBr(10$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$) was about 98%. Optimal pH to. the elimination of R-plasmid was pH 7.0 and the R-plasmid in the cells incubated for 24 hrs was proved to be eliminated most effectively. Aerial mass color, soluble pigment formation and reverse side color were reported to be often the plasmid associated characteristics of the R-plasmid bearing bacteria. But these characteristics of the uncured and cured Streptomyces bobili, (YS-40) showed no changes in the most of the pigment formation media tested in this work.
The spectrophotometric determination method of scandium with eriochrome cyanine R(ECR) and the composition ratio of the complex were investigated in the presence of surfactants. The absorbance increase and red shift of maximum adsorption wavelength of Sc(III)-ECR complex were observed in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB), but those changes were not observed in the sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and Triton X-100. A volume of 5ml of $1{\times}10^{-3}M$ ECR and 10ml of $2{\times}10^{-4}M$ CTMAB are necessary for the determination of $1{\times}10^{-7}{\sim}3.0{\times}10^{-6}M$ Sc(III) at pH 6.5. The apparent molar absorption coefficient of the Sc(III)-ECR-CTMAB, temary complex at 610nm is $5.6{\times}10^5mol^{-1}cm^{-1}L$ and its detection limit is $1.0{\times}10^{-7}M$. The binary complex composition of Sc(III)-ECR is 1:2 and the ternary complex composition of Sc(III)-ECR-CTMAB is 1:3:1.

A study on the associative properties of sodium hyaluronate (NaHA) and Alkane-bis (dimethylalkylammonium bromide) surfactants in aqueous solution was investigated in relation to the chemical structure of surfactants. As a result of measuring the interfacial tension, a parabolic graph showing the minimum value (cmin) at a specific concentration was shown. Above this minimum concentration the increase in interfacial tension is thought to be related to the formation of aggregates of NaHA chains and dimeric surfactants. The plot of viscosity vs surfactant concentration shows a slight maxium at cmin and a viscosity decrease at high surfactant concentrations. Viscosity nonlinear behavior is related to the size increase due to the complex growth and to the size shrinkage following from the interaction with electrolyte ions and free micelles. The results of surface tension measurements show a broad region of surface tension decrease, indicating the NaHA-surfactant interaction. The increase in surface tension above cmin may be related to the adsorption of clusters, consisting of free NaHA chains and dimeric surfactant. The strong adsorption of surfactant is observed at high concentrations.
A new hydroxyl group-containing conjugated ionic polymer, poly[2-ethynyl-N-(p-hydroxyphenylethyl)pyridinium bromide], was synthesized by the activated polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine with p-(2-bromoethyl) phenol without any additional initiator or catalyst. The polymerization proceeded well to give a moderate yield (65%) of polymer at a reaction temparature of 90$^{\circ}C$. Another polymer, poly[2-ethynyl-N-(p-hydroxyphenylethyl)pyridinium tetraphenylborate], was readily prepared by the ion-exchange reaction of poly[2-ethynyl-N-(p-hydroxyphenylethyl)pyridinium bromide] with sodium tetraphenylborate. These polymers were completely soluble in organic solvents such as DMF, DMSO, and acetone, but insoluble in water and ether. Instrumental analyses, such as NMR, IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopies, indicated that the new materials have conjugated polymer backbone systems with the designed substituents and counter anions. X-Ray diffraction analyses of the polymers indicated that they were mostly amorphous.
A new ${\beta}$-lactam compound, 6-thiocyanopenicillanic acid(1a) was prepared by the reaction of diazonium salt of 6-aminopenicillanic acid with sodium thiocyanate. Reaction of 6-thiocyanopenicillanic acid(1a) with p-nitrobenzyl bromide, chloromethylpivalate and 1-chlorodiethylcarbonate, respectively, afforded the corresponding esters(1b∼d)

The aggregation between cationic and anionic surfactants was studied by turbidimetric and nephelometric methods with emphasis on facile analysis of the surfactants and understanding of the mixed micellization. The turbidimetric titration of sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) or cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) showed maximum turbidity at equimolar composition in the SDS concentration range of 0.1-0.9 mM. The nephelometric titration of the same systems extended the limit of analysis to 0.001 mM. The sodium salts of decylsulfate and sulfonate gave similar maxima, but not at equimolar composition. The coexistence of equimolar aggregates and mixed micelles were shown over broad composition range. The aggregation and mixed micellization of the anionic/cationic surfactants mixtures depended sensitively on the hydrophobic character of the surfactants.
A new paraffin salt bridge was developed for the concentration cell in high pressure system. The emf values of the concentration cells were measured to calculate the activity coefficients of the electrolytic ions depending upon the pressure of the system. The activity coefficients of sodium, chloride and bromide ions increase with the temperature of the cell and decreased, nearly half at 2500 bars, $20^{\circ}C$, with the pressure. These results can be explained to be attributed to the volume change of the hydrated ion due to the electrostriction. The volume change decreased with pressure due to an increase in the degree of the hydration.
It has been tried to decrease the crosslink density of vulcanized EPDM (ethylone-propylene-diene terpolymer) rubber through a chemical devulcanization treatment. Phase transfer catalyst, alkali metal (i.e., sodium), and triphenylphosphine have been used as a chemical agent ul the devulcanization treatment. Also it has been estimated the effect of the devulcanization treatment in the case of utilization of 2-butanol as a devulcanization reaction solvent. In the devulcanization treatment using quaternary ammonium salt as a phase transfer catalyst. the devulcanization effect has been studied with the variation of catalyst molecular weight and the choice of bromide or chloride cation. In the devulcanization treatment using sodium, it has been estimated the devulcanization treatment effect depending upon the variation of reaction variables such as amount of sodium used, reaction temperature, pressure of hydrogen gas, which is used as a reaction environment. The $M_c$ value (number average molecular weight between two crosslink points) has been experimentally estimated by the equilibrium swelling method and it is quantitatively related to the crosslink density. The estimation of devulcanization effect for vulcanized EPDM rubber has been carried out by the comparison of the $M_c$ values between the untreated and the treated specimens.
Several types of resocinols have been monobrominated in the ring in good yields with sodium bromide in the presence of 18-crown-6 on oxidation with m-chloroperbenzoic acid. Monoiodination takes place with 2'-(1-methylcyclohexen-3-yl)-5-(1,1-dimethylheptyl )-resocinol when sodium iodide is employed. This new reagent system, MX/18-crown-6/m-CPBA (M =$K^+, Na^+, X = Br^-, I^-X$ ), effects the regiospecific halogenation of activated aromatic ring over olefinic double bond.
Metachromatic behavior of methylene blue (MB) in solutions of aqueous sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), chondroitin sulfate and L-${\alpha}$-lecithin vesicle at $18~52^{\circ}$C has been studied by absorption spectroscopy. MB was clustered in the matrix of the vesicle with high concentration of L-${\alpha}$-lecithin. The metachromasy of MB was found to be independent of phase transition temperature of vesicles. These results suggest that the dyes were aggregated on the hydrophilic surfaces of vesicle. In the vesicular system, the metachromatic effect of MB was dramatically decreased in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) than SDS. It is estimated that the intercalation site of these surfactants on vesicle surfaces was different, that is, the intercalation of CTAB was more effective than that of SDS.
