  • In this paper, we analyze the telecom services and their socio-economic effect of using open spectrum, which is to access sharing spectrum. For this, we suggest a concept and a classification of open spectrum as spectrum access model and make a survey for analyzing the socio-economic effect of spectrum, 2,605 MHz which is candidated for sharing between 2.9~5.925 Hz in Korea. From survey results, we propose Mobile Telecommunications Assist Service and WiFi as the most effective services and Smart Car Service and M2M, IoT, and RFID/USN Service as the effective services to open spectrum.

  • The purpose of this paper is to better understand the socio-economic differentials of Internet access and use. Data from '2008 Korean Internet usage behavior' were used to conduct logistic regression analysis. The findings show that there are significant socio-economic(age, gender, educational attainment, employment situation, and Internet access type) disparity in Internet access(Internet access at home, broadband Internet access). Also socio-economic variables enter in as statistically significant in most specifications for Internet use intensity (Intensive internet use, frequent internet use, less frequent internet use). The gender, household income and education attainment explanations for large differential in Internet use intensity are generally very similar. It is shown that age, education attainment and household income level cause a large digital divide on Internet service use(information use, communication and community use, e-commerce use, Internet banking use).

  • The purpose of this study was to ascertain whether some socio-economic characteristics affect the service users' perception on the change of social condition in healthcare services. The research target for this study was fixed on the sample members in national sample design and the data of this study was used 37,648 effective samples collecting using Probability Proportional to Size. The results of this study using the causal relationships model are as follows: The variables including type of female, age, years of schooling show positive signs on the service users' perception on the social condition change of healthcare. And the variables including household income, temporary worker, casual worker, urban residents show negative signs on the service users' perception on the social condition change of healthcare. In conclusion, the socio-economic characteristics affect the service users' perception on the social condition change of healthcare. And the service user's perception on the social condition change of healthcare was affected positively on the beneficiary side.

  • This study was performed to figure out the recognition on forest certification by consumption propensity and socio-economic characteristics of wood cabinet consumers. The mean score of recognition on SFM and FSC showed comparatively low, 2.25 and 2.20(5-point likert scale), from the analysis result on 88 valid questionnaires of 90. The respondents rate of eco and non eco-friendly group formed 80.7% and 18.2%, there is a significant gap between two groups on total questionnaires. The percentage of respondents recognizing on SFM and FSC was about 31% (eco-friendly), 5.6%(non eco-friendly, SFM) and 2.8%(non eco-friendly, FSC) within each group. It showed that the socio-economic characteristics on eco-friendly respondents were higher than the others about more 1.3 times in the married rate, average age and monthly householding income.

  • Coastal dunes have many environmental and ecological socio-economic importances; various human activities, however, have impaired their structures and functions over the years. In 2016, environmental survey on coastal sand dune was carried out to report the present status and update the coastal sand dune list in 2001. This research analyzed the survey data in terms of geomorphological and socio-economic aspects. A list of the 189 coastal sand dune and information was updated by province. A 36.5% reduction in coastal sand dune area have been identified for using agricultural land, development area since the approximately 1940-50s. Development area in coastal sand dune covered small area as 5%, the use intensity was relatively hard. Furthermore, the difference by province also showed. Approximately 80% of the development area was concentrated in 20% of total sand dune several sand dune. It is generally accepted that coastal sand dunes were exposed high development pressure. However the result means that the general brief dose not apply for all sand dune. Therefore, characteristics of each sand dune should be analyzed and concerned the diverse management plans.

  • According to Asian Development Bank report Pakistan is among water scarce countries. Climate scenario on the basis IPCC fifth assessment report (AR5) revealed that annual mean temperature of Pakistan from year 2010-2019 was $17C^o$ which will rise up to $21C^o$ at the end of this century, similarly almost 10% decrease of annual rainfall is expected at the end of the century. It is a changing task in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan to meet the water demands of rapidly increasing population in a changing climate. While many studies have tackled scarcity and stream flow forecasting of the Upper Indus Basin (UIB) Pakistan, very few of them are related to socio-economic and climate change impact on sustainable water management of UIB. This study investigates the pattern of current and future surface water availability for various demand sites (e.g. domestic, agriculture and industrial) under different socio-economic and climate change scenarios in Upper Indus Basin (UIB) Pakistan for a period of 2010 to 2050. A state-of-the-art planning tool Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) is used to analyze the dynamics of current and future water demand. The stream flow data of five sub catchment (Astore, Gilgit, Hunza, Shigar and Shoyke) and entire UIB were calibrated and validated for the year of 2006 to 2011 using WEAP. The Nash Sutcliffe coefficient and coefficient of determination is achieved ranging from 0.63 to 0.92. The results indicate that unmet water demand is likely to increase severe threshold and the external driving forces e.g. socio-economic and climate change will create a gap between supply and demand of water.

  • This study discusses an effort to build a model to link normalized difference vegetation indices (NDVI) and socio-economic indicators derived from village survey (1990, 1993, 1996, and 2000) statistical data in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. Socio-economics indicators of sub-district level, in this study the number of agricultural households (AH), are aggregated from village level data. NDVI from Landsat-TM resolution data (1989 and 1997) are computed to detect land use/land cover (LULC) dynamics in the sub-district areas. Attention is mainly paid on the examination of agricultural land cover changing in the sub-district level. NDVI measurements might be used to predict AH dynamics as showed by computed linear regression models.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the structure and properties of the patterns by extracting the general patterns on socio-economic development from huge data by statistical analysis. We collected data concerning socio-logical, economical and technological aspects. Indicators used for this study amounted to a total of 136, and among them 39 were on science & technology. What is more, these indicators were set up with the resent data for the first half of the 1970's mainly, and 141 nations were selected as the sample. Some rinkage patterns to the total indicators were abstracted by cluster analysis based on the correlation matrix. And some rinkage patterns to the total countries were educed by applying cluster analysis of centroid method to the respective indicators.

  • This study examines the implications of fashion in self-expression or image management among college students in Korea. Socio-demographic factors are considered in addressing following research questions: why Korean college students seek luxury goods; how they recognize the effects of using luxury goods on their image management; whether or not they have purchased counterfeit luxury goods; and why they buy counterfeit goods. In order to explain the relationship between fashion and social class, the study examines various sociological theories including Erving Goffman's dramaturgical approach. The data were drawn from 1419 students from 10 universities nationwide in 2005. Chi-square analyses yields outcomes as follows: Using luxury goods works as a class symbol that gives the users the image of higher socio-economic background; use of counterfeit luxury goods and its symbolic effects in image management do not have significant relationship with socio-economic background.
