The Reality of Transitional Services Provided to People with Intellectual Disabilities from the Point of View of Parents

  • The current study aimed to identify the reality of the transitional services provided to people with intellectual disabilities from the parent's point of view. The results indicated an average level, with an arithmetic mean (3.66) of the reality of transitional services provided to students with intellectual disabilities through the response of the study participants to the questionnaire consisting of (20) items. The dimension (social and societal skills) ranked first with an arithmetic average (4.03) with a high degree, through the response of the participants in the study to the items of the dimension consisting of (10) items. It was followed by the dimension (self-determination skills) with an arithmetic average of (3.29) to a medium degree, through the response of the participants in the study to the items of the dimension consisting of (10) items. The researchers recommend the necessity of joint planning by all relevant authorities, to solve the legal, societal, technical, and administrative problems and challenges that impede the provision of transitional services for students with intellectual disabilities.

The Differential Effects of Virtual Reality (VR) on the Novice and Experienced VR Users

  • Although research on Virtual Reality (VR) has uncovered numerous technical advantages of VR over traditional media, little is known about how individual VR users with varying prior experience respond to VR differently. This paper examines the effect of users' prior VR experience on their subsequent real-life behavior in the domain of charitable consumption. Specifically, we find that compared to experienced VR users, novice VR users are more likely to support a charitable cause in real life (e.g., ocean conservation) after experiencing this cause in VR. The increased support among novice VR users occurs because they perceive the use of VR to be more novel. We find a boundary of this effect such that when VR is used to promote a noncharitable cause, novice VR users no longer increase their real-life support after VR. This research offers new possibilities for future studies on the use of VR in societal marketing.

  • Autonomous decision-making is key to safe and efficient marine autonomy, as global marine industry comprises over 90 percent of the world's cargo transportation. Challenges of the real-world validation in the aquatic domain limits the wide-spread of ASVs despite their promising societal impacts. We propose and demonstrate the real-world validation platform and comprehensive algorithm steps. Such a framework will serve as a more explainable and reliable decision-making system of ASVs as well as autonomous vehicles in other domains.

  • 전 세계적으로 가상현실(VR)의 이슈화를 따라 많은 분야에서 가상현실(VR) 기술을 접목하여 새로운 콘텐츠를 개발하고 있다. 가상현실은 가상의 공간에서도 인간이 가진 감각을 그대로 인지할 수 있도록 해주는 기술이며, 이는 현실적인 공간의 제약을 받지 않고 가상의 공간에서 사용자가 직접 체험 할 수 있다는 점에서 차세대 기술로 주목 받고 있다. 가상현실기술은 게임, 의학, 교육 등 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있으며 특히 가상현실을 활용한 시뮬레이션이 주목받고 있다. 가상현실을 활용한 시뮬레이션도 운동, 교육, 재난 모의 훈련 등 다양한 분야에서 응용되고 활용되고 있지만 바이러스 전염에 의한 질병에 관한 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 조류인플루엔자 재난 대응 훈련 시뮬레이션에 대한 기술검토 및 분석연구를 진행하였다. 우리나라에서 해마다 발생하고 있는 조류인플로엔자는 매년 되풀이되지만, 정작 막아줄 수 있는 해결책이나 예방법은 아직 부족한 실정이다. 조류인플루엔자는 사회적으로 큰 파장을 일으키고 경제적으로 막대한 피해를 가져올 수 있다. 조류인플루엔자나 구제역과 같은 가축전염병은 농가에 미치는 피해 범위가 크기 때문에 사전 예방이 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 제시하는 조류인플루엔자 재난 대응 시뮬레이션을 통해 예방 할 수 있는 콘텐츠를 제시하고 분석하였다.

생산양식과 농촌사회의 변화 (Mode of Production and Change of Rural Society)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate a causal relationship between the mode of production and change of rural society. While dominant theories of social change have stressed variation of contingencies and periodical contexts, this theoretical paper drives a new insight paralleling diverse theoretical arguments of each mode of production with rural and urban changes. Investigating the drifts of intellectual ideologies of the mode of production, we get through diverse paradigm shifts of the production accumulation and its trigger effects on rural change. More specifically, the present study investigates change of rural society by way of investigating such fluctuations of societal changes as ancient society, slavery society, feudal society, industrial society, post-industrial society, and information society. We find that transportation and communication technologies have had a key role in the changes, however, the effects of the technologies on social changes have been different between rural- and urban-society. While we take it for granted that flexible accumulation in post-industrial society and time-space compression and informatization in information society will reduce developmental gap between rural- and urban-society, we also found that there have been big differences of actual application of the technologies between theory and reality in each era of mode of production.

딥러닝 기반 교량 손상추정을 위한 Generative Adversarial Network를 이용한 가속도 데이터 생성 모델 (Generative Model of Acceleration Data for Deep Learning-based Damage Detection for Bridges Using Generative Adversarial Network)

  • Maintenance of aging structures has attracted societal attention. Maintenance of the aging structure can be efficiently performed with a digital twin. In order to maintain the structure based on the digital twin, it is required to accurately detect the damage of the structure. Meanwhile, deep learning-based damage detection approaches have shown good performance for detecting damage of structures. However, in order to develop such deep learning-based damage detection approaches, it is necessary to use a large number of data before and after damage, but there is a problem that the amount of data before and after the damage is unbalanced in reality. In order to solve this problem, this study proposed a method based on Generative adversarial network, one of Generative Model, for generating acceleration data usually used for damage detection approaches. As results, it is confirmed that the acceleration data generated by the GAN has a very similar pattern to the acceleration generated by the simulation with structural analysis software. These results show that not only the pattern of the macroscopic data but also the frequency domain of the acceleration data can be reproduced. Therefore, these findings show that the GAN model can analyze complex acceleration data on its own, and it is thought that this data can help training of the deep learning-based damage detection approaches.

아방가르드 소설 『여명의 사냥꾼』과 사회 반영 (Reflections on society in Francisco Ayala's Cazador en el alba)

  • Franciso Ayala's narrative work was published in the collection "Nova novorum" (1926-1929) of Revista de Occidente, founded by $Jos{\acute{e}}$ Ortega y Gasset. The author of Cazador en el alba was well aware of the avant-garde aesthetics and hence he put into practice an artistic rupture of the traditional narrative forms of Realism. The work consists of two short stories: "Cazador en el alba" and "Erika ante el invierno". The use of metaphor, Francisco Ayala's preferred literary device (which Ortega y Gasset already emphasized in The Dehumanization of Art), reveals the influence of $Ram{\acute{o}}n$ $G{\acute{o}}mez$ de la Serna's Aphorisms. Through a metaphoric language, "Cazador en el alba" describes the life of Antonio, a soldier and peasant, who visits Madrid and confronts the urban reality of the metropolis. "Erika ante el invierno" portrays with a singular depth the solitude of a woman living in another metropolis, Berlin. The author confessed that he wrote both short stories influenced by the European avant-garde and its use of poetic imagery and metaphor, common practice at that time. However, the main purpose of this article is to reflect upon the society of the first decades of the $20^{th}$ Century: the city, the people and their lives, the societal changes, as well as the innovative perspective of the new art.

암 생존자의 일상생활 복귀 경험 (The Experience of Cancer Survivor's Return to Everyday Life)

  • 본 연구는 암 생존자의 일상생활 복귀 경험의 이해를 통해 성공적인 일상생활 복귀와 삶의 질 향상 방안을 모색하고자 시도되었다. 암 치료 후 5년이 경과되어 완치 판정을 받은 19명을 암 생존자 환우회 및 인터넷 카페에 연구목적과 방법을 공지하여 모집하였다. 자료 수집은 2017년 1월 18일부터 2월 25일까지로 심층면담을 통해 실시되었으며, 자료가 포화될 때까지 이론적 표출을 시도하였다. 1회 면담 시간은 90분에서 120분 정도 소요되었으며, 인터뷰 이후 불충분한 내용은 추가 면담을 통해 내용을 확인 받았다. 면담 횟수는 1~3회였다. 근거이론에 따른 자료 분석을 실시하였으며, 암 생존자의 일상생활복귀 경험은 '고달픈 현실', '육체적 소진', '심리적 소진', '경제적 소진'이라는 인과적 조건으로 인해 '벗어날 수 없는 현실', '내일을 알 수 없는 불확실한 현실'이라는 중심현상이 발견되었다. '가족의 지지부족', '노동 취약계층으로의 이동', '미비한 지원시스템', '사회적 지원체계 희망', '위축된 성', '암/암환자에 대한 편견', '찾기 힘든 완치 이후 삶에 대한 정보' 등의 맥락적 조건에 따라 '적극적 건강관리', '긍정적 경험', '절대적 존재에 의지하기' 전략을 선택적으로 수행하였다. 이러한 전략 수행 과정은 중재적 조건인 '든든한 울타리', '효과적인 암보험'의 영향을 받았다. 그 결과는 '새로운 삶 구축하기' 또는 '견디기'로 나타났다. 암 생존자의 성공적인 일상생활 복귀를 위해서는 일상생활 복귀 과정에서 경험할 수 있는 문제들과 관련된 포괄적인 정보 제공 및 보건·복지적 개입이 필요하며, 향후 암 생존자 관리를 위한 시스템 구축 시 암 생존자의 요구를 반영한 지원 프로그램 개발이 필요하다.

PRESENT DAY EOPS AND SAMG - WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

  • The Fukushima-Daiichi accident shook the world, as a well-known plant design, the General Electric BWR Mark I, was heavily damaged in the tsunami, which followed the Great Japanese Earthquake of 11 March 2011. Plant safety functions were lost and, as both AC and DC failed, manoeuvrability of the plants at the site virtually came to a full stop. The traditional system of Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) and Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMG) failed to protect core and containment, and severe core damage resulted, followed by devastating hydrogen explosions and, finally, considerable radioactive releases. The root cause may not only have been that the design against tsunamis was incorrect, but that the defence against accidents in most power plants is based on traditional assumptions, such as Large Break LOCA as the limiting event, whereas there is no engineered design against severe accidents in most plants. Accidents beyond the licensed design basis have hardly been considered in the various designs, and if they were included, they often were not classified for their safety role, as most system safety classifications considered only design basis accidents. It is, hence, time to again consider the Design Basis Accident, and ask ourselves whether the time has not come to consider engineered safety functions to mitigate core damage accidents. Associated is a proper classification of those systems that do the job. Also associated are safety criteria, which so far are only related to 'public health and safety'; in reality, nuclear accidents cause few casualties, but create immense economical and societal effects-for which there are no criteria to be met. Severe accidents create an environment far surpassing the imagination of those who developed EOPs and SAMG, most of which was developed after Three Mile Island - an accident where all was still in place, except the insight in the event was lost. It requires fundamental changes in our present safety approach and safety thinking and, hence, also in our EOPs and SAMG, in order to prevent future 'Fukushimas'.

재해방지를 위한 환경보전 의식도 조사 연구 (A Study on the Consciousness Level on the Preservation of Environment for the Disaster Prevention)

  • 본 연구에서는 다변화되어 가는 현대사회 시민들의 의식수준을 조사하고 환경보존이 재해방지에 미치는 영향에 대해 본 고찰을 통하여 분석하여 보았다. 첫째, 환경문제 의식수준은 높고 의식은 매스미디어에서 가장 많이 얻는다. 둘째, 시민들은 오늘의 광주시 환경상태를 생각하며 그 대책이 시급하다고 생각하고 있다. 셋째, 환경보전 교육이 절실하게 필요하고 가장 시급한 문제는 수질 오염을 지향하고 있으며 환경파괴 없는 경제성장을 요구하고 있다. 넷째, 시민들은 중소도시에서 살고 싶고 미래에 대한 견해는 비교적 높은 참여 의식을 갖고 있다. 다른 지역으로 이주에 대한 문제는 중소도시를 원하고 있어 문화생활을 누리면서도 공해가 없는 곳을 원하고 있는 것으로 평가되며 환경문제는 앞으로 광주시에 증가할 것이라는 비관적 예상을 보여주고 있고 환경보전은 비교적 높은 참여의식을 보여 주고 있으나 실제로는 적극적이 아닌 것으로 평가 예측된다.
