In order to understand the provision of social welfare in Korea, this study puts forward a method to measure and tracks the welfare mix, and applies the method to Korea. This is the goal of this study, which is in three parts. First, I critically review the concept of welfare pluralism and develop the welfare mix model, Second, I present a methodology and technique for measuring and systematically comparing the components of the welfare mix. Third, I examine the roles of five welfare providers including state, market, non-profit organization, enterprise and family in the welfare mix of Korea. This study argues that the welfare mix in Korea has some characteristics of 'residual state, expanded market, negligible voluntary sector, and protective family'. The state in Korea has played a relatively little role in the provision of social welfare, enforcing most Koreans being with a meagre social protection. Thus, most of the 'left' needs for social welfare has to be met in the private sector composed of market and enterprises. In addition, in a situation that self/mutual help through family or community is encouraged, the family has played an important role in the welfare mix. But the role of voluntary sector in the welfare mix has remained negligible. Consequently, the characteristics of the welfare mix in Korea can be best described by a welfare society rather than a welfare state.

Poverty is often referred to as a phenomenon of scarcity, inadequacy or instability of income. Besides, poverty can also cause health issues, exacerbate social problems, leading to isolation, discrimination and loss of a bright future. Lately, the role of zakat (the compulsory giving of a set proportion of one's wealth to charity) as a useful tool in combating poverty has been highlighted since zakat collected will be distributed specifically to the poor and needy groups. This paper seeks to assess the role of zakat in combating poverty among recipients. A questionnaire was distributed to 300 participants selected from the list of recipients who received assistance from Zakat institutions. A cluster random sampling has been utilized to select sampling from the target population. The data were analyzed using SPSS to provide descriptive analysis. Past evidence has shown how zakat has able to transform the recipient into a payer especially through education or business assistance. Proper management of zakat institution is seen as a powerful mechanism to facilitate community development and to strengthen the Muslim economy. Results show the importance of zakat in the effort to eradicate poverty and further able to improve the asnaf's quality of life.
Purpose - The purpose of this research is to test the impact of social connectedness and team psychological safety on the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance (job performance and practiced creativity), and moderating role of usage frequency of SNS. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 299 questionnaires, completed by Chinese employees, were analyzed using SPSS 22 and AMOS 22. For the assessment of goodness of fit of the models, TLI, CFI, RMSEA indices were used. Result -The empirical results are as follows. First, social connectedness had a mediating effect in the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance, practiced creativity. Second, team psychological safety had a mediating effect in the relationship between transformational leadership and social connectedness, job performance, practiced creativity. Finally, the moderating effect of frequency of employee SNS usage were not significant. Conclusion -This study analyzes the mediating role of employee social connectedness and team psychological safety on the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance, practiced creativity, which is helpful for the expansion of related theories and provides practical implications for effective human resource management.

The current number of international students is gradually increasing in the world due to their passion for study or exchange students programs related to be affiliated with their universities. Many international students have great hope for their successful life of studying abroad. The factors that play a key role in successful study abroad can be seen as life satisfaction in host country and career commitment. Therefore, this study suggested the way to improve students' life satisfaction and career commitment among Chinese international students in Korea. It focused on social identification as a core factor in improving international student life satisfaction and career commitment. In addition, it also focused on social support as a factor to increase social identification. According to the results of empirical analysis, it was verified that perceived social support improves social identification among international students. In addition, social identification improves their life satisfaction and career commitment. Therefore, the mediating effect of social identification was found to be significant in the relationship between perceived social support and life satisfaction and career commitment. This study was verified that if international students perceive social support, they can experience social identification. This process can eventually lead to life satisfaction and career commitment. Based on these results, it emphasized that the role and importance of social identification. Finally, the practical implications and future research directions were discussed.
Background: The purpose of this study is to identify the gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes of students in dental hygiene and to provide basic data to expand social awareness of equal gender sensitivity and gender role in dental hygiene and students by identifying the degree of correlation. Methods: The purpose of this study was to study dental hygiene students at colleges in Gyeonggi and Chungcheong areas. The survey was conducted from April 1 to April 30, 2021. The final sample was analyzed on 157 subjects. T-test and ANOVA analysis were performed to compare gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes according to general characteristics. Equal variances were tested using the Levene statistic, and significant differences between groups were identified through Scheffe's post hoc analysis. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to confirm the correlation between gender sensitivity and gender role stereotypes. Results: Gender sensitivity was 2.69 and gender role stereotypes were 1.83. Among the sub-areas of gender sensitivity, gender role openness was the highest at 2.86, and non-violence was the lowest at 2.50. As for gender role stereotypes, social stereotypes were the highest among sub-areas at 1.71. Among the general characteristics, there was a statistically significant difference in gender sensitivity according to the presence or absence of opposite sex friends (p=0.011). The gender identity openness of gender sensitivity and the physical sub-areas of gender role stereotypes showed the highest positive correlation(r=0.955). Among the sub-areas of gender sensitivity, gender role openness and domestic stereotypes showed the lowest negative correlation (r=-0.404) among the sub-areas of gender role stereotypes. Conclusion: Dental hygiene students should be able to critically analyze and solve problems of not only sexual violence but also gender discrimination and imbalance in social life. For this, environmental factors such as school education and professor guidance must be strengthened.
The purpose of this study is to investigate Korean youth's motivations for parenthood and concepts of parental role and to examine closely the relationship with the sociodemographic variables(age, sex, religious orientation, growth region, father's occupational level, parental education degree). the subjects are 465 students of the three universities in National Capital region. The data are collected by questionnair methods and analyzed by t-test, F-test, factor analysis. The major findings are as follows: 1) The motivations for parenthood are classified into five factors. These are acquisition of social status factor, continuation of self factor, achevement and creativity factor, tradition factor, primary group ties factor. The korean youth think the most of achievement and creativity factor among five motivation factors. 2) The korean students have somewhat stereo-typed concepts of parental role and place the stress on training the behaviors of the child and encouraging the development of the child. 3) The sociodemographic variables to have relationship with the motivations for parenthood are age, sex, growth region and father and mother's educational degrees. And the variables related with the concepts of parental role are sex, father's occupational level. 4) There are relationships between traditional role concepts of a father and motivation of acquisition of social status factor and tradition factor. And traditional role concepts of a mother are related with motivations of acquisition of social status factor and primary group ties factor among the motivations for parenthood.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of job stress and social support on the organizational effectiveness of hospital employees and to examine the role of social support in the experience of job stress among the employees. Previous studies have yielded mixed results regarding the role of social support. Some studies provide supporting evidence for the buffering effect of social support, while others do not. Still others report findings about reverse buffering effects. These inconsistent findings are, in part, accounted for by methodological problems such as poor measurement, small sample size, and the existence of high multicollinearity. To examine more rigorously the role of social support in relation to the negative effects of job stress, this study was carefully designed to overcome methodolgical shortcomings found in the past research. In addition, unlike the previous studies, which were concerned mostly with health-related variables as consequences of job stress, in this study, three work-related variables (job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and intent to stay) which had close relationships with organizational effectiveness were examined as output variables. The sample used in this study consisted of 353 employees from a university hospital in the surburbs of Seoul. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using canonical analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that; (1) job stress has negative main effects on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and intent to stay; (2) social support has positive main effects on the same three output variables, (3) social support does not moderate the harmful effects of job stress on the three outcome variables, and (4) the three-way interaction effects of (social support * job stress * gender) and of (social support * job stress * education) are not supported. The implications of these findings for the management of human resources are discussed.
Since 1998 when economic assistance from IMF started, the empirical research on the effects of unemployment and drastic income loss on psychological functioning among the unemployed as well as their family members has increased. These studies have found that unemployment and drastic income loss following unemployment have significant negative influence on the psychological outcomes such as anxiety and depression of the unemployed and their family members. Studies have also focused on the role of social support in this process, and reported that depending on the levels of received social support, unemployment and income loss have differential effects on the psychological aspects of the unemployed. However, these studies have several weaknesses. First, most of the related studies employed the data which were collected from limited regions of the country, which imposes limitations on the scope of the generalizability of research findings. Second, the main independent variables used in these studies were mainly unemployment or income loss, which ignore the psychological evaluation by the employed of their family financial situations. Third, in analyzing the moderating effects of social support, most studies have focused mainly on showing the existence of moderating effects by social support. Consequently, the nature and role of social support remained unanalyzed and left to speculations. The purpose, of this study is to examine the effects of economic pressure experienced by family heads who were unemployed and to analyze the moderating role of social support based on a nationally representative sample. The findings showed that economic pressure has negative influence on anxiety and depressive feelings among the unemployed, and that the effect of economic pressure on depressive feelings were substantially higher among those who have received lower levels of social support from family members than that among those with higher levels of family support.
Given to the prevalence of social commerce such as Groupon, Ticketmonster, and Coupang, it has become critical to understand customer purchasing behavior in social commerce environments. When consumers make purchasing decisions in social commerce, they often act impulsively. This is because social commerce is a deal-of-the-day website that features discounted gift certificates usable at local companies. However, the vast majority of social commerce research has viewed consumer decision-making as a rational process. This study develops a theoretical framework to investigate key drivers of customer's impulsive purchasing in social commerce. This study identifies flow, positive emotion, negative emotion, social commerce attractiveness, and discounted price as the key antecedents of impulsive purchasing. Data collected from 164 users who had prior purchasing experiences with social commerce were empirically tested against the research model using partial least squares analysis. The analysis results indicate that flow plays an important role in facilitating customers' impulsive purchasing in social commerce environments. Moreover, the findings show the exact roles of positive emotion, negative emotion, social commerce attractiveness, and discounted price on consumer's impulsive purchasing.

This was a descriptive study to investigate the effect of social support and resilience on sick role behaviors of hemodialysis patients, and aims to provide base data on nursing intervention programs for improving the sick role behaviors of hemodialysis patients. The study subjects was patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis treatment at a general hospital in D city. The final analysis has been made on 131 questionnaires. The average of social support score was $3.93{\pm}0.84$, and resilience score was $2.67{\pm}0.80$. At last sick role behavior score was $3.99{\pm}0.80$. According to the analysis on the correlations among the study subjects' social support, resilience and sick-role behaviors, the social support had statistically and significantly positive correlation. In regression analysis, frequency of dialysis, social support and resilience have appeared to be the variables influencing sick role behavior, and the explanatory power of this model is 44.0%.
