  • This study was undertaken to examine the degree of quality of life and to analyze the factors affecting those quality of life in middle-aged men. Method: The subjects of this study were 208 men aged by 35-55 from 3 business enterprises located in Seoul and Incheon. Data collection was conducted through the use of 5 questionnaire. Result: There were significant differences in the quality of life according to marital status, religion, educational level, number of children and total house income. A positive correlation was found between quality of life and all independent variables i.e., health promoting behaviors, health perception, social support, self-esteem and self-efficacy. Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was self-esteem. Self- esteem, health perception, health promoting behaviors, marriage, and social support accounted for 65% of the variance in quality of life in middle-aged men. Conclusion: All independent variables i.e., health promoting behaviors, health perception, social support, self-esteem and self-efficacy were related with quality of life in middle-aged men. Therefore it is necessary to develop the nursing intervention with these variables to increase the quality of life for middle-aged men.

  • This study uses the concepts of mental accounting and coupling in consumption to demonstrate a systematic relationship between behavioral costs, sunk costs, coupling, and user intention to discontinue social network services (SNS) use. An analysis of 213 SNS users found that coupling and sunk costs are two major factors that influence an individual's intention to discontinue SNS use. An interesting finding of this study is that the perception of coupling is created by behavioral costs in the context of an SNS. This finding implies that the source of cost perception when perceiving coupling may differ depending on whether the product or service is traditional or web-based. These results contribute to an expansion of the theoretical discussion of individual-level discontinuance intention after adopting SNS by conceptualizing the perception of coupling.

  • Social networking service(SNS) helps users manage, share and delivery a vast information as a communication tool. When users read crisis news in SNS, they communicate the information with others by considering not only their belief (i.e., cognitive risk perception) but also emotion (i.e., affective risk perception). However, few researches have been interested in the construct of communication behaviors of crisis in SNS. This study aimed to explore the role of risk perception (cognitive and affective risk perception) between crisis responsibility and communication behavior through dual processing theory. As a result of the empirical analysis, crisis responsibility had a positive effect on cognitive risk perception and affective risk perception. In addition, cognitive risk perception had no significant effect on communication behavior whereas affective risk perception had influence on communication behavior positively. Thus, our findings may predict that the affective risk perception through crisis responsibility is more potentially important to communication behavior such as sharing information rather than cognitive risk perception. The results give insightful ideas why marketer should reduce perceived emotion caused by risk to strengthen prospective SNS users understanding of communication behavior intention.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the children's school adjustment on family strength, social support and parental efficacy according to their parents perception and to submit basic material to recognize the necessity of strengthening parental capability for enhancing children's adaptation to school. The summary of the results of the study was as below. All of the subjects who recognized family strength, social support and parental efficacy according to their parents perception showed middle score over 3. The parents who recognized family strength and parental efficacy were examined as the factors which influence children's adjustment to school. These showed that children's adjustment to school is better when parents recognized that family strength is higher, and when parents recognized that parental efficacy is higher. But when parents recognized social support, no meaningful influence appeared, so if the parents who are first social supporters of school-aged children understand the importance of children's adjustment to school, which has a high adaptability with high social support, and recognize the difference of the influence of social support on the children's adjustment to school and home, it could be the factor to reduce children's adjustment problems at school.

  • This study examined the effect of family cohesion and perception of age-friendly environment on sense of community and the mediating role of perception of age-integration in those relationships by regions. To that end, we used survey data collected from a nation-wide survey from adults who are aged 20 to 85 (N=1,200). ANOVA, structural equation models and bootstrapping mediation tests were conducted. The results showed that family cohesion and one sub-dimension of the age-friendly environment- social participation- increased sense of community in all three regions. Also, perception of age-integration partially mediated the relationship between family cohesion and sense of community in the Metropolitan areas and small cities as well as the relationship between social participation and sense of community in all three regions. Based on the results, authors discussed ways to increase family cohesion and social participation to enhance sense of community.

  • A literature has demonstrated that the three dimensions of corporate sustainable management activities (economic, social, and environmental responsibility) affect corporate performance via reciprocity and trust (expertize-based trust and benevolence-based trust) perception. However, previous studies show some inconsistent results for the effects of reciprocity and trust perception on the relationship between corporate sustainable management activities and corporate performance. Thus, this paper re-analyzes the relationships between the constructs based on various industries and customers. The empirical results can be summarized as follows. Expertise-based trust is affected not by social responsibility and environmental responsibility but economic responsibility.
