  • Meta-analysis was conducted on 56 studies published in Korea until April 2017 to systematically integrate factors of ego integrity of the elderly. The variables related to ego integrity were divided into 6 groups of variable, and the effect sizes were computed for each variable of their groups. The analysis results are as follows. First, the total effect size showed the middle effect size, and the effect size according to the variable group showed the largest effect size for the positive psychological variable group, followed by the negative psychological variable, the physical variable, the familial variable, the social variable and the demographic variable. Second, the largest effect size of the sub-variables on the each individual variable group showed positive psychological variable was life quality, negative psychological variable was depression, physical variable was health behavior, familial variable was children relationship, social variable was social support and demographic variable was economic status. As described above, suggesting that these variables may have a strong influence on ego integrity among the variables related to ego integrity because the quality of life, life satisfaction and depression were shown as the largest effective variables related to ego integrity.

  • The study attempts to explore factors which affect life satisfaction of the elderly, and thereby to identify the most efficient strategy to enhance their happiness and satisfaction with life by means of a family support system. Previous research suggests that the family is the main origin from which emotional and ecionomic satisfacton of the aged evolves, and satisfaction is facilitated by societal assistance for the family to financially support old persons. These theoretical antecedents are incorporated into a causal model for empirical verificatio. To this end, interviews were conducted in Seoul with 300 individuals who are 60 years old or over. The major findings of this study support the theoretical assertions of previous studies. They are summarized as follows : 1. Family solidarity is highly correlated with life satisfaction of the elderly. 2. Family solidarity is raised by the intensity of their social association, satisfaction with housing, and financial resources. 3. Eduation, income and marital status as exogenous variables do not directly affect life satisfaction and family solidarity, despite their strong overall correlation. Casual effects of each variable are linked to family solidarity and then to life satisfaction through a family support system for the elderly.

The subjects of this research exercise comprised 250 adolescent counselors. Data were analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation and by structural equation modeling. The results were as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between job stress and burnout, and job stress had a negative correlation with social support and ego-resilience of the adolescent counselors. Moreover, social support and ego-resilience had a negative correlation with burnout. Second, social support did not have any direct impact on relieving burnout yet affected it in an indirect way through ego-resilience. Ego-resilience exerted both direct and indirect influence on reducing burnout. Therefore, it was found that the ego-resilience of the adolescent counselors was bound up with their job stress and there by exercised a significant influence on burnout. The findings of the study illustrated that as for the relationships among the job stress, social support, ego-resilience and burnout of the adolescent counselors, ego-resilience was a crucial variable in preventing burnout. This study is of significance in that it provided theoretical data which can be used when developing programs designed to prevent burnout in adolescent counselors.

  • This study, targeting a cancer patient undergoing radiation treatment, conducted this research with the aim of looking into the relevance between family support belonging to a patient's primary environment, social support consisting of medical personnel, and the quality of life; this study set 199 patients available for investigation from Jan. 25, 2012 until April 30, 2012 as research subjects among the cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment at the Radiation Oncology Department of a university hospital located in Seoul Metropolitan City. In the analysis of collected data, this study conducted t-test using SPSS/WIN 18.0 Statistical Program, and looked into the relevancy between independent variables including social support, and the quality of life as a dependent variable using analysis of variance, correlation analysis and multi-regression analysis. Conclusively, it was found that the higher the family support perceived by a cancer patient undergoing radiation treatment, the higher the quality of his/her life; thus, this study could learn that there exists a significant relation between family support and the quality of life. Accordingly, it is thought that it's necessary to develop an intervention strategy which makes it possible to intensify family support and social support, etc. for the purpose of improving the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment; further, this study thinks that it's necessary to do additional research which could analyze diverse aspects by subdividing the future quality of life by area.

Care satisfaction had a significant mediator effect on the effect of family support, expert support and care stress on the psychological well-being of parents. According to the result of the Multiple Group Analysis, the path showed a statistically significant difference between gender was friend support→care satisfaction, care stress→psychological wellbeing, expert support→care satisfaction.
