The social welfare service is expanding to different field as the social welfare budget is increasing. By this opportunity, it needs to make clear of the basis of argument that the necessity of development of Korean government's support and aid by social policy should be worked. This research dealt with the national economic effect in relation to welfare for the disabled in terms of welfare economics. Budget spending for the achievement of welfare for the disabled makes an enterprise or a person spend money continually either in a direct or indirect way. This study shows by the use of analysing the related production effects, as an economical influence of welfare for the disabled budget assuming by means of measuring. The results are analyzed that the production of one trillion and three hundred billon won is annually caused and 8,015.9 hundred million won of the direct and indirect added value is caused by the welfare of the disabled budget expenditure of three local governments of capital area. And it is also assumed it creates employment cause personnel (17.673.2 person) and job cause members (26.825.2). The result of the study anticipates the role of basic research material for the necessity of intervention, support, and aid by the government and local government revised policy for the disabled welfare field at this point in time where the welfare budget policy in terms of universal social service is reinforced, rather than the trend, until recently, of realizing the social welfare budget as consumption expenditure and the function of performing the effect and evaluation in tentative action of social conflict.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the mechanism and essence of problems by understanding the whole structure of the complicated problems that exist in the social welfare field with DEMATEL method, one of structural models. This paper consists of (1) What kind of social welfare problems exist in the community that is related to welfare? (2) What kind of thoughts do people who work in social welfare field have related to these problems? (3) Are there any differences in structure of thoughts among social welfare civil servants who take charge of planning and dividing budgets for community welfare, social workers who provide services personally and civic activists who criticize and keep watch on behalf of civilians? In order to achieve the purpose of this study, data were collected in Busan Busanjingu and the survey was conducted from the year of 2005 when community welfare plan was first established up to now. The major structural problems of the community welfare of the Pusan Jin-gu, Korea, are: 1) welfare budget allocation procedure is not logical, 2) the outskirts of the Pusan Jin-gu are isolated as poor areas, 3) geographic imbalance is severe among communities, and 4) the social welfare response system to support future population structure needs to be more developed. All of these problems are the fundamental origin to the social resource disparity within communities. The major problems of the community social welfare in Pusan Jin-gu, Korea were recognized by different perspective in terms of professional career such as social welfare civil servants, social workers, and civic activists. Majority of the social welfare civil servants thought "severe geographic imbalance"; majority of the social workers believed "lack of the social welfare response system to support the structure of the population in the future" and "disparity in social resources within the communities"; and majority of the civic activists said "limitation for understanding various social welfare needs because of short term need assessments" as main issues of the community social welfare. It seems that this paper is able to be used as a framework to establish community welfare plans and individual programs in Busan Busanjingu.

Korea is expected to become an "aged society" in approximately fifteen years. In order to prepare Korean society for this "aged society", the government and social organizaitons need to offer a life stage preparation manual for the young, middle-aged, and aging populations, as well as providing support structures to guide them through this transition. Researchers have developed a Life Stage Preparation Program, based on surveys and experiments conducted to assess needs and appraise effectiveness. To accomplish the goal of this research, the team has been composed of specialists from the fields of social welfare, family studies, occupational studies, and gerontology. The Life Stage Preparation Program consists of ten areas: understanding ageing issues, sustaining and improving health, psychological issues, continuing education, family relations, social activities, financial preparation, occupations, shelter, and mortality. The effectiveness of the program surveyed on age group of 20s and 60s resulted in nine areas. The Life Stage Preparation Program needs to be operated as a life long education program.
This purpose of research is to offer basic materials for analyzing organizational structure in an effort to develop a standardized model that considers regional characteristics with the ultimate goal being the establishment of a National Health and Family Support Center. Research methods include aliterature survey data. The research target is 94 centers run by the National Health Family Support Center training. These are assessed in terms of their regional characteristics. The objectives of this paper are as follows: 1. To look at the present National Healthy Family Support Center's yearly conditions investigate the regional characteristics. 2. To analyze the National Healthy Family Support Center's annual organizational managements and operations characteristics. 3. To analyze the National Healthy Family Support Center's regional characteristics (Urban-only-, Urban-Rural Integration, Rural-only-) in terms of its organizational management and operations. First, at the national, county, and ward levels, Health and Family Support Center can have family intervention purpose. Regional Center should be operated to keep pace with custom of different regions. Standardization can also be beneficial, including considerations such as agricultural needs and a type center. Purpose: The purpose of this study were to compare working condition, socioeconomic status, and health status between elderly and non-elderly workers and to examine the influencing factors of health status according to age groups. Methods: This study is a secondary analysis of data extracted from the 2014 Korean Working Conditions Survey. For the present analysis, 15,980 elderly workers over the age of 55 and 32,037 non-elderly workers under the age of 55 were selected. Results: The prevalence of subjective unhealthy status and poor mental health were significantly higher among the elderly workers than the non-elderly workers. The elderly workers were more likely to have lower level of education and income than the non-elderly workers. They also reported less support from colleagues and managers, however, have more decision authority. Among the elderly workers, long working hours, awkward posture, physical environmental risks, quantitative demand, decision authority, social support, age discrimination, education level, and income level were significant predictors of subjective health status or mental health. Conclusion: For keeping elderly workers healthy and productive, work environment needs to become more age-friendly. An age-friendly workplace may include: accommodative support, workers' participation, minimization of environment risk, etc.
The purpose of this study is to constitute the background theory and framework for developing the family-empowering program of Healthy Family-Support Center(HFSC). For this purpose, first, this study emphasizes that the development of integrated and differentiated program for HFSC is needed. Second, this study shows the theoretical background including ecological system theory, family system analysis theory, and family life coaching process. Third, assessment and evaluation system and subsystems are suggested as a basic frame for developing family life diagnosis tool. This system is based on the comparative analysis about the studies relating family life planning and case management. Fourth, the process of family empowering program is suggested to accomplish the family needs and goals. This process include the assessment, family life coaching for problem solving and/or family life planning, and following education and counselling. Last, this study shows how this program is related to other programs of HFSC. Family members can participate various programs of this center for preventing or solving the problem on the basis of evaluation results. Family-empowering program for making family healthy can be a representative and integrating program for this center.
Permanent rental housing which is entirely financed by the Government is welfare housing for those who fall within the lowest income bracket. This type of housing is intended for use as rental housing on a long-term basis. At present, there are about 190,000 permanent rental housing units in Korea. The purpose of this study is to suggest the implications to improve the management and welfare service system of permanent rental housing. For this, qualitative data were collected by using the in-depth interview with staffs of community welfare center and management office of five permanent rental housing complexes and two times of advisory committee meeting with housing and social welfare experts. To analyze the data gathered in this study, the constant comparative method of data analysis was used. Conflicts between the management office and social welfare center of permanent rental housing could be classified into two aspects; personal and operational. Main reasons for the conflicts between two institutions were identified such as attitude of management office staffs, lack of cooperation, current administrative system, lack of management resources such as space and operation cost, and so on. Based on the results, some implications including institutional support and social complementary cooperation were suggested for improvement of management and welfare service system for the residents of permanent rental housing.
As our lifestyles have changed due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, new social and communication problems have been caused and there have been lots of discussion on regional communication. For communities to become alternatives with realistic meanings in this changed society, considerations on social and spatial conditions are needed. Therefore, public space which works as a device of physical environment for activation of communities needs more active changes which encourages social communication. In respect to the activation of communities, the following suggestions are given: First, physical devices of a urban plaza should be arranged to support various programs presented along with consideration of human behaviors as users. Second, fundamental facilities of the plaza should accommodate various activities through connections with programs and commercial space. Third, when cultural and historical characteristics of the community are understood, the plaza can form regionality and symbolism through artistic representation. And users can form the identity of community. Fourth, transportation facilities should be separated from or coexist with areas of passengers and the plaza should have its own identity through symbolic sculptures.

The purpose of this study was to extend the social comparison theory in an attempt to examine the effect of TV media on adolescent body images. The research was a survey and the subjects were 895 male and female adolescents in Taejon, Korea. The measuring instruments were 2 sets of stimuli of male and female body silhouettes and self-administrated questionnaire. Results were as follows: 1) The subjects TV viewing periods were 3∼4 hours per day and their involvements in TV media were moderate degree. 2) The results of perceptual body images showed that adolescent favored thin body type as an ideal body and had distorting tendency that their bodies were larger than the actual sizes. 3) The results of attitudinal body images showed three factors such as \"appearance evaluation\", \"appearance orientation\", and \"fitness orientation\". 4) TV media had significant effects on perceptual and attitudinal body images. It is concluded that the results of this study support social comparison theory that people compare themselves to others to satisfy their needs for self-evaluation and for judgments of their own personal worth since TV media give strong influence on adolescents through presenting social comparison models to body images.
Purpose: This study sought to explore theoretical knowledge of benefits that sport participants perceived. In specific, this study reviewed related literature to explore similarities and differences of perceived benefits between competitive sport and eco-sport. Research design, data, and methodology: This study employed an integrated literature review approach. A conceptual model is suggested by reviewing prior studies. The study collected relevant documents via online search engine including KCI and google scholar. The contents and results of collected data were analyzed and categorized into perceived benefits between competitive sport and eco-sport. Results: For results, summary of perceived benefits was presented. In specific, a total of twelve variables were derived from the literature analysis as physical benefits of sport participation, which include cardiorespiratory fitness and physical self-concept and so forth. Second, a total of six mental benefits were discovered by prior studies, including happiness, stress release, psychological health and so on. Third, in terms of socio-relational benefits, four variables were derived from previous literature, which are social support, trust, and social capital and so on. Conclusions: This study identified positive outcomes of physical activities. Furthermore, a variety of benefits were categorized into three major aspects such as physical, mental, and social benefits. The study needs to be conducted to explore the effects of perceived benefits on repeat participation. Further implications were discussed.
