  • Fashion trend is more than a social phenomenon that multitudes of people accept as popular styles of clothing. The purpose of this study was to understand the influence of fashion trend over time and distance. Geographically thousands of miles apart, the U.S. has strongly influenced fashion in Korea, revealed by references and historic depictions collected from literature and web sites. Results of the study are summarized as five issues: First, emergence of female missionaries from the U.S. American missionaries working in the late Great Korean Empire performed a significant role importing Western culture to Korea. Second, as opportunities of education increased, women studying abroad introduced Western fashion to Koreans when they returned to Korea. They were more open to Western culture than other Koreans and moderately harmonized their Korean sentiment and Western culture, mitigating cultural shock and enabled other Koreans to accept Western culture. Third, the effect of fashionistas on media. Singers working for U.S. armies stationed in Korea and movie stars appearing in Hollywood movies profoundly affected Korean pop culture and fashion trends in Korea. Fourth, following First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy of the U.S. She was an influential figure in those days and a fashion leader as well. Lastly, acceptance of working girl fashion depicted in American television shows. American working girls depicted on American TV shows were highly admired by young Korean women, so the fashion of American working girls became a major fad among young Korean women.

A content analysis was conducted utilizing Google News as a search tool to access articles containing information pertaining to the use of emojis by brands. The combination of keywords used for the search were "emoji", "business", and "marketing". The search was narrowed down to the period of January $1^{st}$, 2014 - November $29^{th}$, 2017. This method generated a total of 604 trade publications with 55 of them providing information pertaining to specific brands and their use of emojis in their marketing strategies. A content analysis of trade publications has revealed that a variety of marketers have utilized emojis in their brand marketing practices. The entertainment, service, and food/drink industries have predominantly utilized emojis in their marketing practices, and their primary purpose for using emojis was to increase consumer engagement. Brands applied most of these emoji marketing strategies to an online or digital setting, whether it was social media pages, mobile applications, or any other form of computer-based marketing. Although there are limitations to this exploratory research in terms of its methodology, the findings of this study provide interesting insights into the potential of emojis as a marketing tool.

  • Background: This study investigated the hearing status in Korean adults according to data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2009. Methods: The data of 3,479 adults(${\geq}20$ years, 1,492 men, 1,987 women) collected by the Korean Center for Disease Control was analyzed using ${\chi}^2$-test and logistic regression. Results: Differences in hearing loss according to individual factors were evident by follows gender, region, education status, economic status, current smoking and recognition of stress. Differences in - hearing loss according to ear related factors were evident subjective hearing status, experience of tinnitus, prevalence of chronic otitis media, and tympanomembrane abnormality. Conclusion: Hearing-related disorders can cause many social problems. This study investigated a representative cross-section of Koreans to determine the hearing status. The study was limited in that the risk factors of hearing loss were not identified. It is also recommended that a program be developed that can help control the variables identified in this study along with follow-up studies to verify the model.

  • In this paper we propose a method to analyze user's motion as a game command, and implement a sports serious game applied the motion analysis method as a command interpreter. Recently, various contents platforms appear in industrial market, the computer game contents plays an important role in these emerging platforms as a killer contents. The computer game has enough values as an independent major cultural product, moreover it has the potential to be applied in various other fields such as education, healthcare, training, and so on. It could motivate users to do something continuously, and it could also support an immersive environment in a certain special game contents such as VR game. The Serious game 'ChoDeungGangHo', implemented in this paper, is the sensory healthcare serious game based on 3D run game and fitness game. It is designed for user to train the various exercise element by just playing the game, and it also supports the user management system and the linkage of social media. We proposes the sensory serious game 'ChoDeungGangHo' as a model of commercial serious game.

  • This paper aims to explore instructional design of a cyber classroom for secondary students' basic English language competence. A paucity of support for low or under achieving students' English learning exists particularly at the secondary level. In order to bridge the gap, there has been demand for online educational resources considered to be an effective tool in improving students' self-directed learning and motivation. This study employs a comprehensive approach to instructional design for the asynchronous cyber classroom with the underlying premise that different learning theories can be applied in a complementary manner to serve different pedagogical purposes best. Gagné's conditions of learning theory, Bruner's constructivist theory, Carroll's minimalist theory, and Vygotsky's social cognitive development theory serve as the basis for designing instruction and selecting appropriate media. The ADDIE model is used to develop online teaching and learning materials. Twenty-five key grammatical features were selected through the analysis of the national curriculum of English, being grouped into five units. Each feature is covered in one cyber asynchronous class. An Integration Class is given at the end of every five classes for synthesis, where students can practice grammatical features in a communicative context. Related theories, pedagogical practices, and practical web-design strategies for cyber Basic English classes are discussed with suggestions for research, practice and policy to support self-directed learning through a cyber class.

  • The objective of this study is to examine the trends in big data. Research abstracts were extracted from 4,019 articles, published between 1995 and 2018, on Web of Science and were analyzed using topic modeling and time series analysis. The 20 single-term topics that appeared most frequently were as follows: model, technology, algorithm, problem, performance, network, framework, analytics, management, process, value, user, knowledge, dataset, resource, service, cloud, storage, business, and health. The 20 multi-term topics were as follows: sense technology architecture (T10), decision system (T18), classification algorithm (T03), data analytics (T17), system performance (T09), data science (T06), distribution method (T20), service dataset (T19), network communication (T05), customer & business (T16), cloud computing (T02), health care (T14), smart city (T11), patient & disease (T04), privacy & security (T08), research design (T01), social media (T12), student & education (T13), energy consumption (T07), supply chain management (T15). The time series data indicated that the 40 single-term topics and multi-term topics were hot topics. This study provides suggestions for future research.
