  • The functions of the clothing have been changed rapidly in modern society. That means people want to show oneself strongly by the clothing. In other words, the social aspect of the clothing's function which is the expression of own's personality and satisfaction one's desire is emphasized. This study is aimed at taking a look at the functions of modern clothing. The modern clothing has the various functions which are related to the changing of the social system. The result of the study are as follows: With the differentiation of society and institutionalization, the clothing is recognized as the medium which shows one's status and is restricted by people. In modern society as mass society, the system of the social position collapsed. People has the inclination to express own's consciousness, personality and existence intensely. Also, the functions of clothing became diverse. That means the clothing is influenced by the human's consciousness, a sense of values and became the medium which reflects the people's life. This change of the costume means the clothing focus on the functional factor of the free-style clothing getting out of rational value. Therefore, the change of clothing is not the change of the design but the change of value of the clothing, one's way of thinking about the clothing, the change of human life in whole society and the culture. With the changing way of life, the change of the clothing has the system in which the design changes. Therefore, I found that the we have to take a look not the change of the factors which influence the fashion but the functions of the clothing itself.

  • Little research has empirically examined cross-sector job mobility between non-profit and for-profit sector despite the rise and increased importance of this phenomenon in Korea. Using the panel data of Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS) by the Korea Employment Information Service, this study attempts to examine changes in job satisfaction(overall score and 10 facet scores) associated with four types(retention at non-profits, turnover from non-profits to for-profits, turnover from for-profits to non-profits, and retention at for-profits) of cross-sector job mobility among college graduates by employing a first difference model. Major results reveal that (1) in the group of retention at non-profits, 'overall job satisfaction' is consistently higher; (2) in the group of retention at non-profits, negative change in 'overall job satisfaction' is the largest; (3) in the group of 'for-profits to non-profits,' negative change in 'stability of employment' is the smallest; (3) in the group of 'non-profits to for-profits,' negative change in 'job contents' is the smallest; (4) in the group of 'non-profits to for-profits,' negative change in 'weekly work hours' is the largest; (5) in the group of retention at non-profits, negative change in 'potential growth & development' is the largest; and (6) in the group of retention at non-profits, negative change in 'social reputation' is the smallest;. This study has made a start in a new area of inquiring attempting to explain cross-sector job mobility and raises implications for future research.

  • The Purpose of this research is to compare the feminine modesties expressed in the clothes of women's college students in 1980s and 1990s, and to find out the social cause of the change of modesty by reference data. Korean women's college students in 1980s considered feminine modesty very important in the selection of clothes but students in 1990's had quite different attitudes. The major cause of this change may be due to the fact that the traditional conservative values in clothes were diminished in 1990's. The main cause of different values in 1980s and 1990s is the rapid social change of korean society in this Period. The concrete factors of changes were the change of authoritarian aesthetic values and the Positive orientation to diversity individuality sensibility and sexuality.

  • The library as a social agency must study and evaluate its effectiveness and seek to improve its service for achieving the external objectives for which it was created. The study is an attempt to define the determining factors involved in change in library service. Library service evolves as a consequence of social need, which comprises unconventional demands of emerging areas in the subject ratio of literature, change in methods of research, change in the educational level of the community, and change in the user behavior. Since the library is an agency of communication, growth and specialization of information, and increase in variety of information media have effects on library service. The library is one of the many communication agencies in society, and increase or decrease in their programs can be determining factors of change in library service. Today, libraries depend more and more upon interlibrary cooperation to allow them to overcome their limitation in resources and time, and they can bring about changes in their service by adjusting themselves to the interlibrary cooperation arrangements available. Finally, library service is rendered as a result of theorizing as to what the library might or should do, and naturally theories or change in them may be determining factors of library service.
