  • R.P.D fabrication can be made if the skills already is properly used in the manufacturing press. You may feel extremely comfortable to wear it. The material used has high elasticity that it can endure the hole process of Acetal Wax pattern casting without any deformation moreover its adaptability is not bad. Because of the poor financial condition of patterns and health insurance, Acetal R.P.D Framework can be one of the best alternatives used for setting clasp partial denture cheaply. R.P.D Framework is aesthetically excellent. The color caused by saliva is so similar to that of the rest of teeth that even dentists as well as patients can not recognize clasp arm. Clasp also helps to secure prosthesis ideally without damaging teeth due to its deep position downward. Since dentists and patients have a good reaction to clasp so far, we are encouraged to apply it to other technical fields.

  • An intercomparison experiment was implemented to assess the uncertainties and precisions om atmospheric SO$_{2}$ measurement techiques including a pulsed fluorescence (P-F), a diffusion-scrubber /ion chromatography (D-I), and a mist-chamber/ion chromatography (M-I). Each of those three techniques was investigated by researchers at Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, respectively. The concentrations of atmospheric SO$_{2}$ were determined concurrently using three independent measurement techniques at the Seoul National University campus, Korea during Nov.22 to Dec.2, 1995. While the results from the P-F and D-I techinques showed the very close agreements (within +-5%) throughout the experiment period, M-I technique showed systematically smaller values (up to 30%) than the other two techniques. Although sources of larger discrepancy between different techniques were mot identified, the lower SO$_{2}$ values of the M-I method may be related to the errors associated with sample collection effciency, mass flow rate measurements, and standardization of ion chromatography.

  • In this study, heavy metal removal and precipitation characteristics with pH change were studied for artificial acid mine drainage. Artificial acid mine drainage was prepared using sulfates of iron, aluminum, copper, zinc, manganese which contained in acid mine drainage from abandoned mines. The single and mixed five heavy metal samples of Fe, Al, Cu, Zn, and Mn were prepared at initial concentrations of 30 and 70 mg/L. Fe and Al were mostly removed at pH 4.0 and 5.0, respectively, and other heavy metals gradually decreased with increasing pH. Concentration changes with increasing pH show generally similar trend for single and mixed heavy metal samples. The effect of removing heavy metals from aqueous solutions is not related to the initial concentration and depends on the pH change. XRD were used for mineral identification of precipitates and crystallinity of the mineral tended to increase with increasing pH. The precipitates that produced by decreasing the concentration of heavy metals in the aqueous solution composed of Fe-goethite(FeOOH), Al-basaluminite(Al4(SO4)(OH)10·4H2O), Cu-connellite(Cu19(OH)32(SO4)Cl4·3H2O) and tenorite(CuO), Zn-zincite(ZnO), and Mn-hausmannite(Mn3O4).

  • This study was done to investigate effects of n-s fatty acids and vitamin E supplement on the preneoplastic hepatic enzyme altered foci and cholesterol metabolism in experimental hepatocarcinogenesis system. Weaning male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed the diet containing either 15% corn oil(CO) or sardine oil(SO) with or without vitamin E 800IU supplementation for 12 weeks. After two weeks of feeding, rats were intraper-itoneally injected with a single dose of diethylnitrosamine(DEN:200mg/kg, BW). At the 4th week, rats were given the diet containing 0.02% acetylaminofluorene(AAF) for next 4 weeks. At the 6th Week, 0.05% pheno-barbital was incorporated into diet for 6 weeks. At the end of 12th week, rats were sacrificed and hepatic glutathions S-transferase placental form positive(GST_{TEX}$P^{+}${/TEX}) foci and serum and liver cholesterol levels were determined. GST_{TEX}$P^{+}${/TEX} formation was significantly decreased by SO feeding when compared with Co feeding but it tended to be enhanced by vitamin E supplementation. Histopathological changes were similar to patterns of GST_{TEX}$P^{+}${/TEX} formation in almost all dietary groups. Serum and hepatic cholesterol levels of SO fed groups were significantly lower than those of CO fed groups. Carcinogen treatments significantly increased serum and liver cholesterol levels in CO fed groups but not in SO fed groups. Correlation data showed a positive correlation(${\gamma}$=0.83, p<0.01) between serum cholesterol level GST_{TEX}$P^{+}${/TEX} foci area. These results indicate that sardine oil as a m-3 fatty acid source may have a reducing effect in rat hepatocarcinogenesis by the altheration of cholesterol metabolism.

  • Flocculant-producing microorganisms were isolated from soil samples using kaoline as the flocculating test material. One strain that had high flocculating activity among them was selected and identified as Arcuadendron sp. TS-49. The favorable medium for production of the flocculant was 3% glucose, 0.2% yeast extract, 0.1% $NH_4Cl$, 0.01% $MgSO_4$, and 0.05% $MnSO_4$ in 150ml of T.W. with initial pH 7.0.The optimum culture temperature and pH were $30^{\circ}C$ and pH 7.0, respectively. The flocculant activity was observed most highly after 4 to 5 days of cultivation at the optimum condition and decreased significantly with the lapse of cultivation time. The flocculant was produced constituently and seemed to be degraded for ressimilation during cultivation. The productivity achieved by this system was about ten-fold higher than that of scrrening mediuim. This bioflocculant flocculated all tested solids, including various microorganisms and organic/inorganic compounds. Several qualitative analyses of the bioflocculant showed that it was a kind of glycoprotein containing sugars and protein.

  • Present study was carried out to elucidate the effect of phorate (0,0-dietyl S-ethylthiomethyl phosphorodithioate), an organophosphorus insecticide on the acetylcholinesterase(AChE) and cholinesterase(ChE) activity in the chicken brain and plasma. The inhibitory effect of phorate and its metabolites on AChE and ChE activity was also increased in the order of phorate (p=S,S)$(p=S,SO_2)<phoratoxon$ (p=O,S)$(P=O,SO_2)$. Acute oral $LD_{50}$ of phorate was 1.02mg/kg. After oral administration of phorate, the activity of plasma ChE was inhibited more rapidly then that of brain AChE, whereas recovery of plasma ChE activity was more rapid than that of brain AChE activity.

  • AlGaInP high-brightness LEDs(HB-LEDs) have gained importance a variety of application operating in the red, orange, yellow and yellow-green wavelength. The light generated from inside LED chips should be emitted to the air through the surfaces of the chips. However, because of the differences between the semiconductor and air or epoxy's refractive index, some of the light was blocked so that caused lowering external quantum efficiency. In this study, nano-scale roughness on the top-GaP layer of AlGaInP epitaxial wafer was fabricated to improve' the brightness of AlGaInP LEDs. Nano-scale roughness was made by ICP dry etcher. Our AlGaInP LEDs with nano-scale roughness has higher brightness (about 28.5 %) than standard AlGaInP LEDs.

  • Addition effects of free fatty acids (FFA), glycerol, monoacylglycerol (MAG), sesamol, and aqueous extracts of sesame seed meal (ASM) on the changes of sesamol and sesamolin were determined in thermally oxidized sesame oil (SO) at 180$^{\circ}C$ for 90 min. Sesamol and sesamolin in SO were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). As the concentration of FFA and MAG in SO increased up to 10% (w/w), the concentration of sesamol increased significantly by 0.94 and 0.70 mM, respectively (p < 0.05) whereas sesamol in control samples increased by 0.09 mM for 90 min oxidation. Sesamolin in 10% MAG and FFA added SO significantly decreased by 15 and 18%, respectively (p < 0.05) compared to control samples. Sesamolin in SO with addition of 1.5 and 2.5 mM sesamol were not significantly different (p > 0.05). Addition effects of ASM on the changes of sesamol and sesamolin in SO were not constant during thermal treatment. Conversion of sesamol from sesamolin in SO during thermal treatment seemed to be influenced by the presence of FFA and MAG.

  • Objective: This experiment aimed to investigate the effect of different sources and inclusion levels of dietary fat on productive performance and egg quality in laying hens raised under hot environmental conditions. Methods: A total of 480 Hy-Line Brown laying hens at 31 wk of age were randomly allotted to 1 of 5 experimental diets. The control diet contained 2,800 kcal/kg nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolizable energy with no fat addition. Four additional diets were prepared by adding 2.0% or 4.0% of animal fat (AF) or soybean oil (SO). Energy and nutrient concentrations were consistent among all diets. Diets were fed to hens for 4 weeks. Average daily room temperature and humidity were $26.7^{\circ}C{\pm}1.52^{\circ}C$ and $77.4%{\pm}4.50%$. The heat stress index was approximately 76, indicating that hens were raised under heat stress conditions. Results: Final body weight (BW) was greater (p<0.05) for hens fed diets containing 2.0% or 4.0% AF than for those fed the control diet or diets containing 2.0% or 4.0% SO. The BW gain and feed intake were greater (p<0.05) for hens fed diets containing additional AF or SO than those fed the control diet. Eggshell thickness was the greatest (p<0.05) for hens fed the control diet, but the least (p<0.05) for hens fed diets containing 4.0% SO. Egg yolk color was the greatest (p<0.05) for hens fed the control diet, but the least (p<0.05) for hens fed diets containing 4.0% SO. Conclusion: Inclusion of supplemental fat (AF and SO) in diets exhibits preventative effects on BW loss for hens raised under hot environmental conditions when energy and nutrient concentrations in diets were maintained. The effects were greater for AF than for SO. However, inclusion of supplemental fat in diets decreases eggshell thickness and egg yolk yellowness, possibly due to a reduction in Ca absorption and intake of egg yolk colorants.
