  • In this paper, we propose a web-based open artificial intelligence (AI) platform which provides high convenience in input data pre-processing, artificial neural network training, and the configuration of subsequent operations according to inference results. The proposed platform has the advantages of the GUI-based environment which can be easily utilized by a user without complex installation. It consists of a web server implemented with the JavaScript Node.js library and a client running the tensorflow.js library. Using the platform, many users can simultaneously create, modify and run their projects to apply AI functionality into various smart services through an open web interface. With our implementation, we show the operability of the proposed platform. By loading a web page from the server, the client can perform GUI-based operations and display the results performed by three modules: the Input Module, the Learning Module and the Output Module. We also implement two application systems using our platform, called smart cashier and smart door, which demonstrate the platform's practicality.

  • The Cyber Physical System(CPS) is an important concept in achieving SMSs(Smart Manufacturing Systems). Generally, CPS consists of physical and virtual elements. The former involves manufacturing devices in the field space, whereas the latter includes the technologies such as network, data collection and analysis, security, and monitoring and control technologies in the cyber space. Currently, all these elements are being integrated for achieving SMSs in which we can control and analyze various kinds of producing and diagnostic issues in the cyber space without the need for human intervention. In this study, we focus on implementing a production equipment monitoring system related to building a SMS. First, we describe the development of a fog-based gateway system that links physical manufacturing devices with virtual elements. This system also interacts with the cloud server in a multimedia network environment. Second, we explain the proposed network infrastructure to implement a monitoring system operating on a cloud server. Then, we discuss our monitoring applications, and explain the experience of how to apply the ML(Machine Learning) method for predictive diagnostics.

  • Recently, IoT technology has been widely used in many industries. Also research on integrating IoT technology with IoT sensors is actively underway. One of the important challenges in IoT is to support low-latency communication. With the development of communication networks and protocols, a variety of protocols are being used, and their performance is improving. In this paper, we compare the performance and analyze the characteristics of some of the major communication protocols in IoT application, namely MQTT, HTTP, and HTTPS. IoT sensors acquired data by connecting an Arduino equipped with ESP8266 and a temperature and humidity sensor (DHT11). The server measured the performance by building servers for each protocol using AWS EC2. We analyzed the packets transmitted between the Arduino and the server during the data transmission. We measured the amount of data and transfer time. The measurement results showed that MQTT had the lowest data transmission time and data amount among the three protocols.

  • As the size of data and models in machine learning training continues to grow, training on a single server is becoming increasingly challenging. Consequently, the importance of distributed machine learning, which distributes computational loads across multiple machines, is becoming more prominent. However, several unresolved issues remain regarding the performance enhancement of distributed machine learning, including communication overhead, inter-node synchronization challenges, data imbalance and bias, as well as resource management and scheduling. In this paper, we propose ParamHub, which utilizes orchestration to accelerate training speed. This system monitors the performance of each node after the first iteration and reallocates resources to slow nodes, thereby speeding up the training process. This approach ensures that resources are appropriately allocated to nodes in need, maximizing the overall efficiency of resource utilization and enabling all nodes to perform tasks uniformly, resulting in a faster training speed overall. Furthermore, this method enhances the system's scalability and flexibility, allowing for effective application in clusters of various sizes.

  • This study was conducted to make use of Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA)'s Automatic Weather Station(AWS) data to operate smart green greenhouse. A Web-based KMA AWS data receiving system using JAVA and APM_SETUP 8 on windows 7 platform was developed. The system was composed of server and client. The server program was developed by a Java application to receive weather data from the KMA every 30 minutes and to send the weather data to smart greenhouse. The client program was developed by a Java applets to receive the KMA AWS data from the server every 30 minutes through communicating with the server so that smart greenhouse could recognize the KMA AWS data as the ambient weather information. This system was evaluated by comparing with local weather data measured by Inc. Ezfarm. In case of ambient air temperature, it showed some difference between virtual data and measured data. But, the average absolute deviation of the difference has a little difference as less than 2.24℃. Therefore, the virtual weather data of the developed system was considered available as the ambient weather information of the smart greenhouse.

  • Several authentication methods have been developed to make use of tokens in the mobile networks and smart payment systems. Token used in smart payment system is genearated in place of Primary Account Number. The use of token in each payment transaction is advantageous because the token authentication prevents enemy from intercepting credit card number over the network. Existing token authentication methods work together with the cryptogram, which is computed using the shared key that is provisioned by the token service provider. Long lifetime and repeated use of shared key cause potential brawback related to its vulnerability against the brute-force attack. This paper proposes a per-transaction shared key mechanism, where the per-transaction key is agreed between the mobile device and token service provider for each smart payment transaction. From server viewpoint, per-transaction key list is easy to handle because the per-transaction key has short lifetime below a couple of seconds and the server does not need to maintain the state for the mobile device. We analyze the optimum size of the per-transaction shared key which satisfy the requirements for transaction latency and security strength for secure payment transactions.

  • This paper shows the way to prevent the leaking of private information due to malicious codes or connections of invalid URL in QR-Codes, which is used in the present smart-phone. It is difficult to filter out the connections directly with decoding the QR-Codes, so before connecting, we construct servers which compare results of decoding the QR-Codes to a valid URL. The server notifies warning to Smart-phone users if the results were uncertain URLs which did not registered in the server. This paper would help the Smart-phone users to protect their privacy.

  • In this paper, we design a gateway protocol architecture for building an IoT-based smart factory. A smart factory system consists of several terminal devices, gateways and servers, and connects them through a wireless network. The terminal device collects information from various sensors and transmits the information to the server through the gateway. The terminal device controls the actuator by receiving a control signal according to a control algorithm of the server or by manual operation. Therefore, the gateway system connects Wi-SUN, a wireless smart utility network, and the Internet, serves as a Wi-SUN coordinator, and is equipped with Modbus-TCP to interwork with SCADA.

  • Recently, user authentication schemes using smart cards for multi-server environment have been proposed for practical applications. In 2009, Liao-Wang proposed a secure dynamic ID based remote user authentication scheme for multi-server environment that can withstand the various possible attacks and provide user anonymity. In this paper, we analyze the security of Liao-Wang's scheme, and we show that Liao-Wang's scheme is still insecure against the forgery attack, the password guessing attack, the session key attack, and the insider attack. In addition, Liao-Wang's scheme does not provide user anonymity between the user and the server.

  • This paper introduces a moving object tracing system using network-connected CCTV and smartphone. In an emergency situation, a smartphone of the reporter gains its GPS information and sends that to the central server. The central server stores received GPS information as a dangerous area in the database and keeps sending the order of tracing the reporter to a network-connected CCTV which can film the reporter. At the same time, the central server sends pictures of the reporter to his or her family and related organization in order to handle the emergency situation as soon as possible. In addition, when a reporter want to know the risk around destination, the central server informs dangerous areas to the reporter by using smart phone application and database of a danger spot.
