  • According to a NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies report, temperatures have risen by approximately 1℃ so far, based on temperatures recorded in 1880. The 2003 heatwave in Europe affected approximately 35,000 people across Europe. In this study, a cooling fog, which is used in smart cities, was designed to efficiently reduce the temperature during a heatwave and its pilot test results were interpreted. A model experiment of the cooling fog was conducted using a chamber, in which nano mist spray instruments and spray nozzles were installed. The designed cooling fog chamber model showed a temperature reduction of up to 13.8℃ for artificial pavement and up to 8.0℃ for green surfaces. However, this model was limited by constant wind speed in the experiment. Moreover, if the cooling fog is used when the wind speed is more than 3m/s in the active green zone, the temperature reduction felt by humans is expected to be even greater. As a second study, the effect of cooling fog on temperature reduction was analyzed by installing a pilot test inside the Land Housing Institute (LHI). The data gathered in this research can be useful for the study of heat reduction techniques in urban areas.

  • The basic medical subjects are essential for the understanding of the major in the department of health science and are very important. Anatomy is one of the fundamental areas of medical education. On the other hand, the application of new teaching method is being attempted in various fields. Station rotation model, one of the blended learning, is also one of the popular teaching method. Station rotation model allows students to rotate through stations on a fixed schedule, where at least one of the stations is an online learning station. This study investigate the satisfaction of students when applying station rotation model to anatomy class. Each station in the station rotation model consisted of VR application learning, online problem solving, model observation and oral test. After applying station rotation model (2 weeks) to the 'Functional anatomy and Practice' course taken by 37 students of the'Department of Occupational Therapy'at H University, this study conducted a satisfaction survey compare with lecture class for students taking the course. At the result, station rotation model was significantly higher than lecture class in both understanding, interest, concentration and diversity degree. Based on these results, I suggest applying the station rotation model to the anatomy class because it also showed high satisfaction in that.

  • Using confined shape memory alloy (SMA) bar or plate, this study proposes an innovative self-centering damper. The damper is essentially properly machined SMA core, i.e., bar or plate, that encased in buckling-restrained device. To prove the design concept, cyclic loading tests were carried out. According to the test results, the damper exhibited desired flag-shape hysteretic behaviors upon both tension and compression actions, although asymmetric behavior is noted. Based on the experimental data, the hysteretic parameters that interested by seismic applications, such as the strength, stiffness, equivalent damping ratio and recentering capacity, are quantified. Processed in the Matlab/Simulink environment, a preliminary evaluation of the seismic control effect for this damper was conducted. The proposed damper was placed at the first story of a multi-story frame and then the original and controlled structures were subjected to earthquake excitations. The numerical outcome indicated the damper is effective in controlling seismic deformation demands. Besides, a companion SMA damper which represents a popular type in previous studies is also introduced in the analysis to further reveal the seismic control characteristics of the newly proposed damper. In current case, it was found that although the current SMA damper shows asymmetric tension-compression behavior, it successfully contributes comparable seismic control effect as those having symmetrical cyclic behavior. Additionally, the proposed damper even shows better global performance in controlling acceleration demands. Thus, this paper reduces the concern of using SMA dampers with asymmetric cyclic behavior to a certain degree.

  • Due to the rapid development of AI-related industries, countless edge devices are working in the real world. Since data generated within the smart space consisted of these devices is beyond imagination, it is becoming increasingly difficult for edge devices to process. To solve this issue, EdgeCPS has appeared. EdgeCPS is a technology to support harmonious execution of various application services including AI applications through interworking between edge devices and edge servers, and augmenting resources/functions. Therefore, we propose a knowledge-sharing graph-based componentized AI application support system applicable to the EdgeCPS platform. The graph is designed to effectively store information which are essential elements for creating AI applications. In order to easily change resource/function augmentation under the support of the EdgeCPS platform, AI applications are operated as components. The application support system is linked with the knowledge graph so that users can easily create and test applications, and visualizes the execution aspect of the application to users as a pipeline.

Moreover, the study about the identification of patient's condition and examination the brain activity by collecting the bio-signal based on the color environment is being actively conducted. Even though, there were a variety of experiments by convention the color environment using a light or LED color, it still has a problem that affects the psychological information. Therefore, our proposed system using a HMD (Head Mounting display) to provide a completed color environment condition. This system uses the BMS(Biomedical System) to collect the biometric information which responds to the specific color condition and the human body response information can be measured by the development the Memory and Attention test on Mobile phone. The collection of Biometric information includes electro cardiogram(ECG), respiration, oxygen saturation (Sp02), Bio-impedance, blood pressure will store in the database. In addition, we can verify the result of the human body reaction in the color environment by Memory and Attention application. By utilizing the reaction of the human body information that is collected thought the proposed system, we can analyze the correlation between the physiological information and the color environment. And we also expect that this system can apply to the medical diagnosis and treatment. For future work, we will expand the system for prediction and treatment of Alzheimer disease by analyzing the visualization data through the proposed system. We will also do evaluation on the effectiveness of the system for using in the rehabilitation program.

  • In this paper, we measured the user's EEG signal and classified the EEG signal using the Support Vector Machine algorithm and measured the accuracy of the signal. An experiment was conducted to measure the user's EEG signals by separating men and women, and a single channel EEG device was used for EEG signal measurements. The results of measuring users' EEG signals using EEG devices were analyzed using R. In addition, data in the study was predicted using a 80:20 ratio between training data and test data by applying a combination of specific vectors with the highest classifying performance of the SVM, and thus the predicted accuracy of 93.2% of the recognition rate. This paper suggested that the user's EEG signal could be recognized at about 93.2 percent, and that it can be performed only by simple linear classification of the SVM algorithm, which can be used variously for biometrics using EEG signals.
