Investigating Product Uncertainties in Online Shopping: Evidence from Kenya

  • The internet has become an important part of the many aspects of people's daily lives such as work, study, entertainment and in form of electronic commerce, shopping. Electronic commerce is growing rapidly in Kenya. There are many successful business-to-business, business-to-customer and customer-to-customer online shopping companies in Kenya. As a consequence, competition between vendors is intense and, therefore, mitigating the negative effects of high product uncertainty is necessary requirement as it remains a biggest hindrance for success of the online shopping. The purpose of this research is to investigate how online product description, third party product assurance, customer service and website design mitigate the negative impact of high product uncertainty. A questionnaire with 28 items is designed to collect data from online customers. Using multiple regression analysis, the relationship between dependent variable (product uncertainty) and independent variables such as product description, third party assurance, website design and customer service is tested. The result shows that all the independent variables are negatively correlated with dependent variable, which means that product description, third party assurance, website design and customer service can be used by online vendors to lessen the problem of product uncertainty in online markets.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate impacts of e-Commerce traits on intention to use platform extended services based on Value-Attitude-Behavior(VAB) framework as well as the moderating effect of network impact as the current e-Commerce platforms provide more extended services to their customers. Design/methodology/approach The research model was developed based on the literature review and VAB framework in order to empirically investigate impacts of e-Commerce platform characteristics. The survey was conducted in order to test proposed hypotheses. 298 collected responses were analyzed for the structural equational modeling(SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. Findings Findings show that all proposed hypotheses were supported with exception of responsiveness. Among five constructs represented as e-Commerce platform characteristics, product variety had a highest impact on platform value. In addition, this study confirmed that the variable - network effect - strength the relationship between platform attitude and intention to use extended service.

  • Recently the use of smart phone is getting popular not only for adult but also for adolescents. The purpose of this study is to examine how psychological independent variables affect purchase intention of Korean and Chinese adolescents. The psychological variables in the study include showoff, face sensitivity, and a sense of alienation. The findings showed that psychological variables were significant to explain purchase intention both in Korean and Chinese adolescents. Such results can provide a practical contribution of planning marketing strategy both in Korea and China markets.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to find that Factors in the practical application of LISMB(Logistics Information System Practice Based) on S.P(Smartphone)' Characters. and take in the whole situation of LISMB on S.P' Characters by this research and it is clear from the findings that LISMB on S.P' Characters situations and distinctiveness. Research design, data, methodology : Research model and hypotheses have been developed based on literature review and working-level interview The collected data were analysed with structural equation modeling, examining the hypothesized relationships and mediating effect. Result : The results of research are as follows, First, LISMB on S.P' Characters has a positive effect on a precariousness of operation management. but That has no effect on a precariousness of general management. Second, Consign management and User non-cooperation has a mediating effect on relationships between LISMB on S.P' Characters and general management. Third, Old version system, User non-cooperation and Unskilled in equipment new system has a partly mediating effect on relationships between LISMB on S.P' Characters and operation management. Conclusion : Smart-phon Prevalence rates keeps increasing. Nevertheless, LISMB on S.P' Characters may no be used in Container transportation market. This problem are being blamed for hampering corporate activities and harbor logistics industry development. so we need new way to solve that problem.

Continuance Use Intention of Voice Commerce Using the Value-attitude-behavior Model (가치-태도-행동 모델에 기반한 음성 쇼핑 지속이용의도에 관한 연구)

  • Voice technology allows consumers to make purchases through smart devices, and the interest in voice-driven conversational commerce has significantly expanded. In this study, we explored the continuance use intention of voice commerce, and the adoption of a value-attitude-behavior model. An online survey was conducted on 360 individuals who used an artificial intelligence assistant device in a voice commerce environment. We used Amos 23.0 and SPSS 25.0 for descriptive, confirmatory, and structural equation modeling analyses. These results indicated that functional value was the highest influencing variable on satisfaction of voice commerce, while social, emotional, and epistemic values significantly influenced it as well. Additionally, satisfaction of voice commerce significantly influenced the continuance use intention of voice commerce. These findings could help us understand the characteristics of voice commerce users and the diversity value in voice commerce environment.

  • With the increasing availability of medical sensors and Internet of Things(IoT) devices for personal use, considering the interaction with users, it is planned to add intelligent function design to the fashionable jewelry, and develop composite multi-function intelligent jewelry through sensors identification. By means of IoT technology, while possessing communication function of intelligent jewelry, the function of intelligent jewelry can be expanded to the linkage network. In order to rapidly manage the mass data produced by intelligent jewelry sensors based on IoT, an intelligent jewelry system for health management is designed and an ontology model of intelligent jewelry system based on IoT is worked out. After the state of the services through the smart phone application is shown. The application provides a personalized service to the user and to determine the risk to show the guide lines according to the disease.

The New Ecosystem of Cross-border E-Commerce among Korea, China and Japan Based on Blockchain

  • Purpose - The purpose of the study is to propose a theoretical framework of cross-border e-commerce ecosystems based on blockchain technology. The ecosystem includes five systems, namely, crossborder supply chain intelligent system, cross-border logistics system, cross-border payment system, cross-border product quality traceability system and cross-border customs supervision system. Design/methodology - This study firstly derived the main improvement factors for the new ecosystem based on blockchain through prior research and expert interviews on cross-border e-commerce. Then explored the use of virtue of decentralization, anti-counterfeiting traceability, consensus mechanism, smart contract and other means of the core technology of blockchain to overcome the bottleneck of cross-border e-commerce development among Korea, China, and Japan. Finally, proposed valuable implications in both theoretical and practical perspectives. Findings - As a result, we combined with the problems existing in cross-border e-commerce among Korea, China and Japan, this paper proposes a solution based on blockchain. On this basis, it constructs a cross-border e-commerce ecosystem among these three countries, including five systems. In addition, we discuss the main problems existing in the current blockchain, such as low transaction concurrency, security loopholes, and inconsistent standards, the corresponding countermeasures are proposed from the technical level, security level and industry standards. Originality/value - This study is the first to apply the blockchain technology to solve the cross-border e-commerce problems in Korea, China and Japan, which is of pioneering significance in both literature and practice. Block chain technology is in the ascendency. This study provides technical solutions for promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce import and export trade between Korea, China and Japan.

  • Through the examination of literatures, electronic commerce is a subject which is accepted in enterprises to define e-commerce adoption, trends, and issues that are assisting and obstructing its efficacy. E-commerce offers numerous advantages to consumer satisfaction in any place and helps the company to get a competitive benefit over its competitors. The Internet has expanded the scope of business. Many business information is available by the global network that supports information gathering between organizations, businesses and their clients, while various divisions of a business is increasing at an exponential rate. Meanwhile, there are a few barriers to proper e-commerce usage and adoption, such as reliable internet connections, poor e-commerce supporting infrastructures, logistics systems presenting socio-regulatory and poor transportation barriers and demonstrating the significant improvement of e-commerce reliable and affordable Internet provisions, i.e., Internet cost, intensity, and reasonable level of e-readiness. The operational and strategic significance of information-based virtual value chains for all organizations cannot be emphasized. As a consequence, this study confirms worldwide market elements of e-commerce, such as its issues, benefits, relevance, scope, facilitators and projects prospective obstacles in a developing economy.

The Mobile ID based Digital Signature Scheme Suitable for Mobile Contents Distribution (모바일 콘텐츠 유통에 적합한 ID 기반 디지털 서명 기법)

  • The wide use of mobile devices such as smart phones makes the mobile commerce industry be growing-up rapidly. In mobile commerce security, how to secure a copyright of mobile contents and how to distribute it are of major concerns. The user can carry the smart phone regardless of the places. Thus the utilization of it is very high than that of personal computers. The USIM(Universal Subscriber Information Module) inserted in the smart phone binds the user with the device. This means that the smart phone can be used to represent the owner's identity. In this paper, we develop the mobile ID based digital signature scheme. We create the mobile ID by combining USIM with the user's random secret value. In addition, undeniable property of our signature scheme can make ID based applications such as mobile voting and mobile content distribution be possible with the smart phone.
