  • Recently software security of the smart phone is an important issue in the field of information science and technology due to fast propagation of smart technology in our life. The smart phone as the security critical systems which are utilizing in terminal systems of the banking, ubiquitous home management, airline passengers screening, and so on are related to the risk of costs, risk of loss, risk of availability, and risk by usage. For the security issues, software hazard analysis of smart phone is the key approaching method by use of observed failures. In this paper, we propose an efficient integrative framework for software security analysis of the smart phone using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to gain a convergence security and reliability analysis technique on hand handle devices. And we discuss about that if a failure mode effect analysis performs simpler, not only for improving security but also reducing failure effects on this smart device, the proposed integrative framework is a key solution.

  • Objective: This study was to resolve the limitations of the experimental environment and to solve the shortcomings of the method of measuring human gait characteristics using optical measuring instruments. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: Fifteen healthy adults without a history of orthopedic surgery on the lower extremities for the past 6 months were participated. They were analyzed gait variables using the smart guide and the 3D image analysis at the same time, and their results were compared. Visual-3D was used to calculate the analysis variables. Results: The reliability and validity of the data according to the two measuring instruments were found to be very high; gait speed(0.85), cycle time(0.99), stride time of both feet(0.98, 0.97) stride legnth of both feet(0.86, 0.88) stride per minute of both feet(0.99, 0.96), foot speed of both feet(0.90, 0.91), step time of both feet(0.77, 0.71), step per minute(0.72, 0.74), stance time of both feet(0.96, 0.97), swing time of both feet(0.93, 0.79), double step time(0.81), initial double step time(0.84) and terminal step time(0.76). Conclusions: In the case of the smart insole, which measures human gait variables using the pressure sensor and inertial sensor inserted in the insole, the reliability and validity of the measured data were found to be very high. It can be used as a device to replace 3D image analysis when measuring pathological gait.

  • A user interface that connects a user to intelligent robots needs to be designed for executing them efficiently. In this paper, it is analyzed how to organize a mobile terminal based user interface according to the function and level of autonomy of intelligent robots and the user interface of PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and smart phone is developed for controlling intelligent robots remotely. In the image-based user interface, a user can see the motion of a robot directly and control the robot. In the map-based interface, the quantity of transmission information is reduced and therefore a user can control the robot with a small delay of transmission time.

  • The Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) has been considered to be one of the most promising solutions for the implementation of the Fiber To The Home (FTTH) technology designed to ameliorate the "last mile" bandwidth bottleneck. In the EPON network, an efficient and fair bandwidth allocation is a very important issue, since multiple optical network units (ONUs) share a common upstream channel for packet transmission. To increase bandwidth utilization, an EPON system must provide a way to adaptively allocate the upstream bandwidth among multiple ONUs in accordance to their bandwidth demands and requirements. We present a new hybrid method that satisfies these requirements. The advantage of our method comes from the consideration of application-specific bandwidth allocation and the minimization of the idle bandwidth. Our simulation results show that our proposed method outperforms existing dynamic bandwidth allocation methods in terms of bandwidth utilization.

  • The amount of smart phones has increased exponentially. Due to the periodic release of high-performance smart phones and upgraded operating system, new smart phones become out-dated over 1 or 2 years. In order to solve environmental constraints of these smart phones, virtualization technology using Thin-Client terminal has been developed. However, in the case of Virtual Machine(VM), the applications associated with sensors and a GPS device can not run because they are not included. In this paper, by implementing the device driver for Android running in a virtual machine in the x86-based systems, it is to provide Android virtualization capabilities such as using the latest smart phones in the virtual machine environment. It would like to propose a method that the virtual device driver receives sensors and GPS information from the old Android smart phones(Thin-Client) that actually work and run as if the real device exists.

  • It is studied the implementation possibility of some encryption algorithms which meet the performance requirements in the smart card used in the TETRA system End-to-End Encryption. It is measured the operation time of the algorithm in the smart card which has 32 bit smart card controller made by Samsung Electronics. The algorithms used in the performance comparison are AES, ARIA, 3DES, SEED, IDEA which are the domestic or international standards. The input and output time of the smart card are measured using the smart card protocol analyzer. The pure algorithm operation time is calculated by the repeated algorithm operations. This measurement results can be used as the criteria for the selection of algorithm which will be used in the TETRA End-to-End encryption system. The algorithm which has better performance can be used for the implementation of additional functions in the smart lard, because of the enough time margin.

  • Recently, GTO's rate of return to investment is decreasing. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to analyze empirically on enhancement of competitiveness of global port container terminal. This study deals with the terms of three competitiveness enhancement factors which are a GTO's subjective factors, a management environment factors, and a government policy factors. According to analysis results of the three competitiveness enhancement factors, a GTO's subjective factors(4.21 score) are scored at the most ones of competitiveness enhancement factors of GTO, to be compared with a management environment factors(3.94 score). with a government policy factors(3.90 score). Therefore, first of all, it is important to enhance competitiveness of GTO through as follows, a GTO's subjective factors : (1) to procure local and tranship cargo volume, (2) to promote port logistics service, (3) to retain resonable port rate by promoting terminal productivity, (4) to procure container ship firms and alliance. And, the next, we have to enhance GTO's competitiveness through considering a management environment factors, that is, fluctuation of container cargo volume, port awareness, whether function of hub port, etc., and a government policy factors, that is, smart policy of port development, smart policy of port rate, incentive policy for procuring tranship cargo, etc.

  • In this paper, we propose an architecture design of military operation system utilizing cellular networks. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a cost-effective military operation solution for ground forces, which is based on IT(information technology). By employing the cellular phones of officers' and non-commissioned officers' as the tools of operational communication, the proposed system can be constructed in the minimum duration and be built on the four components: command and control system, gateway, security system, and terminal(cell phone). This system is most effective for the warfare of limited area, but the effectiveness does not decrease under the total war covering the whole land of Korea. For the environmental change of near future, expanded architecture is also provided to utilize the functionalities of smart phones.

  • If an appliance perceives the location or health condition of a resident in the smart home, it can provide more intelligent service actively. That is, while the conventional appliance is operated by manual input of a resident, the location-based human adaptive appliance detects the resident's information such as location, activity pattern, or health condition by itself and provides the most suitable living condition for the resident autonomously. This paper presents the real-time location-based metabolic rate estimation method that measures the amount of physical activity (metabolic rate) for location-based human adaptive air-conditioner. And, the feasibility of the algorithm is evaluated experimentally on a test bed using the pyroelectric infrared sensor-based indoor location aware system (PILAS) that is a non-terminal-based location-aware system.
