Influence of SMAs on the attenuation of effects of P-Δ type in shear frames

  • In the paper one investigates the benefits deriving from the introduction of SMA provisions in a structure subject to dynamic excitation and vertical loads. At this purpose one considers a multi-degree-of-freedom (mdof) shear elastic-plastic frame and designs couples of super-elastic SMA tendons to be placed at critical locations of the structure. Particular attention is focused on the reduction of $P-{\Delta}$ effects.

스마트 그린 복합단지 계획요소 도출 및 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Suggestion and Evaluation of Planning Element in Smart Green Multi Complex)

  • 본 연구는 저탄소 녹색성장을 주도하기 위한 스마트 그린 복합단지 계획요소를 도출하고 이를 국내외 기준을 토대로 평가함으로써 탄소배출 완화에 기초한 스마트 그린 복합단지 계획요소의 개발방향을 제시하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 스마트 그린 복합단지의 관련개념을 고찰하고, 계획요소를 도출하기 위한 기본전제로서 탄소완화 방안을 탄소흡수 및 탄소저감 등 두 가지 요소로 구분하였다. 이어서 기존의 생태환경과 관련된 국내연구를 중심으로 저탄소 녹색성장을 주도하기 위한 스마트 그린 복합단지 계획요소를 도출하였다. 또한 계획요소의 평가를 위해 영향성, 용이성, 경제성을 중심으로 스마트 그린 효과를 검토 한 후 계획요소별 적용 우선순위를 설정하였으며, 이상의 평가결과를 토대로 탄소완화방안에 기초한 스마트 그린 복합단지의 개발방향을 제시하였다.

  • Recently, the trend in structural analysis and design is moving towards the development of reliable system. The reliability-based method defines various limit states related to usability and failure, thereby enabling multiple levels of design according to the importance of a structure. Meanwhile, an actual structure is composed of a set of several elements, and particularly, a frame type is composed of a system in which the members are connected each other. At this time, the actual connection between members is in a semi-rigid condition, not in complete rigid or hinged. This semi-rigid is found in several structures, especially in agricultural facilities designed with lightweight materials. In this study, a system reliability analysis technique for frame structure was established, and applied to an analysis of the semi-rigid connection. Various conditions of correlation were applied to reflect the connectivity between members, and through this, the limitations of existing structural analysis method and the behavioral characteristics of structure were analyzed. The failure probability of the frame member component and the overall structure system was significantly different in consideration of the semi-rigid connection. In addition, it was evaluated that the behavior of structure can be more accurately analyzed if the correlation according to the position of members in a system is further investigated.

차량 네트워크에서 고속 영상처리 기반 스마트 카메라 기술 (Smart Camera Technology to Support High Speed Video Processing in Vehicular Network)

  • 최근 반도체 기술, 센서 기술 및 이동통신 기술의 발전으로 스마트 자동차 기술 연구 개발이 진행 중에 있다. 사회가 발전함에 따라 차량이 증가하였고 사고에 대한 위험은 점차 높아지고 있다. 그에 따라 기존의 차량용 블랙박스 외에 차량의 각종 센서 정보를 활용하여 운전자에게 다양한 정보를 제공하는 첨단 운전자 보조 시스템이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차량 간의 통신기능을 포함하고, 주변의 정보를 습득하여 제공할 수 있는 스마트 카메라 장치를 설계 및 구현하여, 장치에 포함된 카메라로부터 입력 받은 영상을 분석하여 획득한 정보를 영상 메타데이터화 하는 기술에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 또한 임베디드 장치의 제한된 계산 성능을 보완하기 위해 관심영역을 설정하는 S-ROI(Static-Region Of Interest), D-ROI(Dynamic-Region Of Interest) 방식을 고안하였다. 실험을 통해 영상처리 속도가 전체영상 분석에 비해 S-ROI의 경우 3.0배, D-ROI의 경우 4.8배 향상함을 확인하였다.

Automatic identification and analysis of multi-object cattle rumination based on computer vision

  • Rumination in cattle is closely related to their health, which makes the automatic monitoring of rumination an important part of smart pasture operations. However, manual monitoring of cattle rumination is laborious and wearable sensors are often harmful to animals. Thus, we propose a computer vision-based method to automatically identify multi-object cattle rumination, and to calculate the rumination time and number of chews for each cow. The heads of the cattle in the video were initially tracked with a multi-object tracking algorithm, which combined the You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm with the kernelized correlation filter (KCF). Images of the head of each cow were saved at a fixed size, and numbered. Then, a rumination recognition algorithm was constructed with parameters obtained using the frame difference method, and rumination time and number of chews were calculated. The rumination recognition algorithm was used to analyze the head image of each cow to automatically detect multi-object cattle rumination. To verify the feasibility of this method, the algorithm was tested on multi-object cattle rumination videos, and the results were compared with the results produced by human observation. The experimental results showed that the average error in rumination time was 5.902% and the average error in the number of chews was 8.126%. The rumination identification and calculation of rumination information only need to be performed by computers automatically with no manual intervention. It could provide a new contactless rumination identification method for multi-cattle, which provided technical support for smart pasture.

CDMA 하향링크의 빔 성형을 위한 스마트 안테나 알고리즘 (Smart antenna algorithm for CDMA downlink beam-forming)

  • 기지국에서 추정된 채널 정보를 바탕으로 빔 성형을 하는 방식은 FDD 시스템과 같이 상/하향링크의 반송파 주파수가 일치하지 않을 경우 지향벡터가 어긋나게 되어 성능 저하가 발생하게 된다. 또한 수신 신호로부터 역방향 링크의 지향벡터를 얻는 blind 추정 기법 역시 하드웨어의 복잡도가 증가하는 단점이 있다. 이와 같은 문제점 해결을 위해 본 논문에서는 사용자의 입사각 추정을 통해 얻어진 상향링크의 무게함수를 하향링크에 적합한 형태로 보정함으로써 원하는 방향으로 빔 성형이 될 수 있도록 다수의 사용자 신호에 대해 공간 푸리에 변환을 수행함으로써 사용자 수의 증가에 따른 빔 성형의 복잡도 증가 문제를 개선해 주는 스마트 안테나 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 CDMA 시스템의 하향링크 송신기에 적용한 후 수신 측에서 프레임 에러율로써 그 성능개선을 확인하였다. 그 결과 주파수 분할 방식의 시스템에서 제안된 알고리즘에 의한 성능 개선이 기존의 스마트안테나 시스템과 동일함을 확인 할 수 있었다.

푸시 서버와 스마트 디바이스를 이용한 영상보안 시스템 (Image Security System Using Push Server and Smart Device)

  • 최근 스마트 디바이스는 성인 대다수가 보유하고 있으며, 다양한 개인화 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 본 논문은 스마트 디바이스를 이용하여 보안이 요구되는 장소에 실시간으로 침입 여부를 감지하는 경량의 지능형 영상보안 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안 영상 보안 시스템은 누적영상 기반의 차 영상과 동적 배경 갱신 알고리즘을 사용하여 침입여부를 인식하였다. 침입통지는 사용자 모바일 디바이스의 어플리케이션 단위로 메시지를 전송할 수 있는 GCM (Google cloud message) 푸시서버와 전자 메일 표준 프로토콜인 SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) 메일서버를 이용하였다. 침입자가 발생했을 경우에, GCM 푸시서버는 실시간으로 개인 모바일 디바이스에 푸시 메시지를 전송하고, SMTP 메일서버는 침입자 사진과 침입시간 전송하였다. 제안 영상 보안시스템은 영상 처리 알고리즘과 스마트 디바이스의 성능을 융합하여 다양한 지능형 영상 보안 분야에 응용할 수 있다.

Adaptive-length pendulum smart tuned mass damper using shape-memory-alloy wire for tuning period in real time

  • Due to the shift in paradigm from passive control to adaptive control, smart tuned mass dampers (STMDs) have received considerable attention for vibration control in tall buildings and bridges. STMDs are superior to tuned mass dampers (TMDs) in reducing the response of the primary structure. Unlike TMDs, STMDs are capable of accommodating the changes in primary structure properties, due to damage or deterioration, by tuning in real time based on a local feedback. In this paper, a novel adaptive-length pendulum (ALP) damper is developed and experimentally verified. Length of the pendulum is adjusted in real time using a shape memory alloy (SMA) wire actuator. This can be achieved in two ways i) by changing the amount of current in the SMA wire actuator or ii) by changing the effective length of current carrying SMA wire. Using an instantaneous frequency tracking algorithm, the dominant frequency of the structure can be tracked from a local feedback signal, then the length of pendulum is adjusted to match the dominant frequency. Effectiveness of the proposed ALP-STMD mechanism, combined with the STFT frequency tracking control algorithm, is verified experimentally on a prototype two-storey shear frame. It has been observed through experimental studies that the ALP-STMD absorbs most of the input energy associated in the vicinity of tuned frequency of the pendulum damper. The reduction of storey displacements up to 80 % when subjected to forced excitation (harmonic and chirp-signal) and a faster decay rate during free vibration is observed in the experiments.

Seismic Retrofit Assessment of Different Bracing Systems

  • Structural ageing influences the structural performance in a negative way by reducing the seismic resilience of the structure which makes it a major concern around the world. Retrofitting is considered to be a pragmatic and feasible solution to address this issue. Numerous retrofitting techniques are devised by researchers over the years. The viability of using steel bracings as retrofitting component is evaluated on a G+30 storied building model designed according to ACI318-14 and ASCE 7-16. Four different types of steel bracing arrangements (V, Inverted V/ Chevron, Cross/ X, Diagonal) are assessed in the model developed in commercial nu-merical analysis software while considering both material and geometric nonlinearities. Reducing displacement and cost in the structures indicates that the design is safe and economical. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to find the best bracing system that causes minimum displacement, which indicates maximum lateral stiffness. To evaluate the seismic vulnerability of each system, incremental dynamic analysis was conducted to develop fragility curves, followed by the formation of collapse margin ratio (CMR) as stipulated in FEMA P695 and finally, a cost estimation was made for each system. The outcomes revealed that the effects of ge-ometric nonlinearity tend to evoke hazardous consequences if not considered in the structural design. Probabilistic seismic and economic probes indicated the superior performance of V braced frame system and its competency to be a germane technique for retrofitting.

비닐 온실의 현장 안전진단을 위한 3차원 LiDAR 스캔 기법 기반 구조 형상 추정 (Structural Shape Estimation Based on 3D LiDAR Scanning Method for On-site Safety Diagnostic of Plastic Greenhouse)

  • In this study, we applied an on-site diagnostic method for estimating the structural safety of a plastic greenhouse. A three-dimensional light detection and ranging (3D LiDAR) sensor was used to scan the greenhouse to extract point cloud data (PCD). Differential thresholds of the color index were applied to the partitions of raw PCD to separate steel frames from plastic films. Additionally, the K-means algorithm was used to convert the steel frame PCD into the nodes of unit members. These nodes were subsequently transformed into structural shape data. To verify greenhouse shape reproducibility, the member lengths of the scan and blueprint models were compared with the measurements along the X-, Y-, and Z-axes. The error of the scan model was accurate at 2%-3%, whereas the error of the blueprint model was 5.4%. At a maximum snow depth of 0.5 m, the scan model revealed asymmetric horizontal deflection and extreme bending stress, which indicated that even minor shape irregularities could result in critical failures in extreme weather. The safety factor for bending stress in the scan model was 18.7% lower than that in the blueprint model. This phenomenon indicated that precise shape estimation is crucial for safety diagnostic. Future studies should focus on the development of an automated process based on supervised learning to ensure the widespread adoption of greenhouse safety diagnostics.
