  • The Database Industry Promotion Act was proposed at the National Assembly plenary session on July 26, 2012 and since then it has been in the process of enactment in consultation with all the governmental departments concerned. The recent trend of economic globalization and smart device innovation suggests a new opportunity and challenges for all industries. The database industry is also facing a new phase in an era of smart innovation. Korea is in a moment of opportunity to take an innovative approach to promoting the database industry. Korea should set up a national policy to promote the database industry for citizens, government, and research institutions, as well as enterprises. Above all, the Database Industry Promotion Act could play a great role in promoting the social infrastructure to enhance the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises. This article discusses the background of the development of the Database Industry Promotion Act and its legislative processes in order to clarify its legal characteristics, including the meaning of the act. In addition, this article explains individual items related to the overall structure of the Database Industry Promotion Act. Finally, this article reviews the economic effects of the database industry for now and the future.

  • It is difficult to apply a Software Process Certification to small scale project, because of much activities and documents for manage project and guarantee the qualities in small manpower. This paper presents optimized Software Process Certification Model for small scale software development, a combine Scrum with essential elements of NIPA's(National IT industry Promotion Agency) SP-Certification model. The proposed model defined minimum Activities and Documents for SP Certification. The model that I showed consists of 16 Processes and 58 Activities, and 39 Artifacts are created. As a result of having compared proposed model with a Standard Process of Small Business, I confirmed that a small scale project's burden reduced because Activity decreased 38% and Document decreased 20%. In order to verify the validity of the proposed model, applied it in two small scale projects, and compare with the project by Scrum process only, it finished that systematic management was possible without additional manpower, and reached SP-Certification level 2.

  • Seoul Metropolitan City, the world's top 10 cities and Metro City, has traditional urban manufacturing industries such as printing, sewing, and mechanical metals. These manufacturing industries have developed in the form of mutual assistance by forming small business clusters according to detailed industries and processes. Due to the nature of the cluster, logistics between companies for each process in the cluster are being carried out quickly, but it is difficult for relatively small small business owners to prepare order processing services for consumers of finished products. Therefore, it is urgent to introduce an integrated order fulfillment service platform for collective business owners for smooth order and delivery processing. In this paper, we collect and analyze the existing Fulfillment Service data of small business owners in the printing industry among traditional urban industries, and design an artificial intelligence Fulfillment Service Platform system applying CRNN, k-NN, and ID3 Decision Tree algorithm. Through this study, it is expected to greatly contribute to the increase in sales and capacity of small business owners by enabling the use of individual orders and customized delivery services that can be used by any small business owner in the cluster.

  • The furniture industry of the northern region of Gyeonggi Province consists of several regional complexes which was just autogenously, that is, not based on the organized and planned movements cultivated and clustered, so it stays small businesses. This fact certainly requires to find right courses for future policy direction, in order to develop the furniture industry centering in the northern region of Gyeonggi Province internationally competitive. Consequently the aim of the present study was to investigate the characteristics of the furniture industry in the northern region of Gyeonggi Province first and to present right development directions for the innovation of the structure of furniture industry according to the change of the times, i.e. to connect the industry, university and the authorities concerned well and to strengthen the technology level of furniture industry accordingly. In addition, this requires education and training of the excellent designers being able to create high added-value industrial sectors, including finding a new Korean national brand which should preoccupy the global market. Furthermore, the high-tech furniture industrial complex specialized in manufacture, distribution and marketing such as the division of work between business to business should be built and finally a Korean traditional & unique furniture culture should be created on the basis of a cultural approach of furniture industry. It would be the timing for entire business sectors related to Korea's furniture industry to establish an international standard certification like ISO, in order to upgrade the quality of furniture steadily while keeping our own tradition, and this belongs to a meaningful attempt for the high-tech lifestyles and the improvement in the quality of life of customers.

  • This study aims to investigate Jinju silk companies, production items, and silk industry supporting projects from 2019 to 2021 in order to discuss the current status of the silk industry. The following are this study's methods: First, a list of Jinju silk companies that have been operating for the past three years (2019-2021) was prepared to investigate the current status of the Jinju silk industry. Second, an investigation was conducted into the representative products produced in Jinju over the past three years; this investigation was conducted using direct interview. Third, an investigation was conducted on the projects that supported the Jinju silk industry over the past three years, and the list of members of the Gyeongnam Textile and Jinju Silk Industry Cooperative Association-a facility of Gyeongsangnam-do Province, the Jinju City Hall brochure (2019), and the SMINFO(SMall business status INFOrmation System) were utilized for this purpose. The following are the results: First, Jinju silk companies are classified into four categories, namely weaving, dyeing, twisting, and designing companies. According to data from 2021, 83% (34 of 41) of silk companies were weavers. Second, the demand for solid fabrics has increased over the past three years. The demand for patterned jacquard fabrics in producing Hanbok and Western-style clothing has decreased. Third, support for the Jinju silk industry could be classified into five categories: support for the operation of silk research institutions, support for the diversification of Jinju silk, support for the promotion of Jinju silk, support for the operation of silk manufacturers, and others.

  • This paper examined the effect of innovation networks comprising research and development (R&D) collaboration on innovation performance of Korean pharmaceutical firms. As co-assigned patents and co-affiliated publications are common technical outcomes of successful R&D collaboration in the pharmaceutical industry, social network analysis technique was applied for analyzing innovation networks through patent and publication data. Results of Social network analysis indicated that a small set of highly innovative firms in the Korean pharmaceutical industry were actively involved in patenting and publishing. And the analysis of structural equation model found the followings: (1) R&D intensity significantly affected patenting, publication and new drug development, (2) the activity of patenting and publishing was positively related with the innovation performance measured by new drug development, and (3) R&D collaboration in terms of degree centrality of co-patent network played significant moderating roles on the relationships among R&D intensity, patenting, and new drug development. These findings are expected to be helpful to researchers as well as policy-makers to devise innovation-promoting policies in the Korean pharmaceutical industry. Discussions and limitations of the study are provided in the last part.

  • Recently, Industry 4.0 (next generation industrial revolution) designed by Germany to retain initiative in manufacturing business is actively studied. Goal of Industry 4.0 is 'Smart factory' which manages progress of production, supply logistics and services. To achieve the goal, we can construct value creation and new business model by integrating organically with production management systems which is existing and cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things, Services Internet and sensor, etc. However, if integration with production management systems does not work effectively by adding and developing new technologies, It does not have performance. Hence, in this research, we will analysis Industry 4.0 which is possible for small quantity batch production and one of the light and flexible manufacturing systems, and based on this, we will suggest methodology to horizontally integrate with production management systems.
