A construction project's period is limited by the order manufacture. And a construction project is requested a specific place, and has the characteristic to be irregular. Today, construction is to be representative high-cost and low-efficiency. This kind of problems appears in small construction projects more often than large construction projects. According to this facts, we recognized necessity of making practical application in methods of construction management. Also, we suggest application and establishment of integrated responsibility management department, PMIS(Project Management Information System) and Data Base. From now on, methods of construction management could be good opportunities for small construction projects and local construction companies. Therefore, small and local construction companies should try to improve their abilities. Likewise, the countries systematize to constitute the relation laws.

The small construction projects under $\\5$ billion occupy 90$\%$ of Korea construction industry. Because of the lack of the right recognition and management tool for the small construction projects, it is difficult to carry out successfully. This study recognized the present status of the domestic small construction industry through the questionnaire with experts. By the analysis of the questionnaire, this study finds items such as the management methods and the success factor about the small projects. Also the study suggests the conceptual framework that the construction party could manage the small project effectively.

Fast delivery of construction projects provides more value to project owners. Batch production, which is production not in single pieces, but in batches, is a common approach in repetitive construction projects such as multi-unit residential building construction projects. In batch production, the use of a small batch size allows the early start of subsequent activities, and thus can lead to early completion of projects. In addition to batch size, balance between productivities in construction activities can affect project duration. However, the impact of the balance between productivities with regard to their order on project duration has not been studied. The main goal of this study is to test a hypothesis, which is that the order of construction activities' unbalanced productivities affects the amount of time reduction that can be achieved by using a small batch size. A computer-based simulation model was developed, and five different cases were simulated to test the hypothesis. The conclusion of the simulation result is that the order of productivities does not affect the time reduction achieved by using a small batch size. It is expected that the findings of this study can help general contractors make decisions in terms of batch size.

Korean construction industry has developed with national economy growth for a couple of decades. However, because of slump of real estate, the domestic construction industry was intimidated. In this situation, many construction company has no choice but to go abroad to find construction projects. However, almost small or medium-sized construction companies are very hard to operate their business because they have small funding ability and weak labor power. Therefore, this study aims to propose an assessment tool through analyzing risk factors of overseas construction projects for small or medium-sized companies by examining preceding research and interviewing industry experts. Weights of the risk factors are determined through the surveys of the industry practitioners. All of the data is configured into the assessment tool and this converts the quantitative information which leads to the optimal of strategies choice. This paper provides a quantitative measurement of possible performance and detailed assessment of each itemized risk factors. This assessment tool is qualified for industry experts so that it can safely be applied to the future projects. Ultimately, many small or medium sized construction companies will benefit from the tool proposed in this study to examine the potential of the overseas market expansion.

Construction management system has been needed to be anchored and revitalize in these days, since it was entered into a domestic market. We could consider application of CM services as a challenge of construction project system and a way to get to an advanced nation in construction field. Application of CM services could be possible in public projects by a regime. However, in case of private construction projects, it is hard to apply it without understanding of substantial necessity and propriety. so in this study, we find a application method of CM services to private small-midium construction projects, and make CM services item table of CM services for revitalization by examining the cases that applied to in private small-medium construction projects.

Only one person should be responsible for many area of works at a small construction sites with less than contract amount of USD 0.3 million. therefore, he can not be an expert in one area. Actually, this kind of small projects are not controlled by the Government because those small size of projects are exempted in following the Government control, due to certain level of small size. The above reason makes those small projects loose with an aspect of safety management without safety consciousness and safety management. The Government makes his effort to decrease nationally accident occurrences but there is considerably deep limitation to achieve a certain level of goal despite a fact that there have been more than 100 workers died annually. It is expected that some proposed management ideas technique with behavior-based safety management can be contributed to decreasing accidents at small construction sites.

With its recent tourism boom, Vanuatu, a small country in the South Pacific, is experiencing an increasing demand for construction. However, it has been struggling with persistent schedule delays in their construction projects due to a variety of reasons. In an attempt to respond to this situation, this paper aims to identify the major causes of schedule delays in building construction in Pacific island countries, with a focus on Vanuatu. To collect data on the factors affecting schedule delays, face-to-face interviews were conducted. Based on these, seven major causes of schedule delays, as selected by the majority of the participants, were identified and discussed to provide perceptive insights for future improvement opportunities. This paper attempts to help contractors with limited resources better understand the major causes of schedule delay in Vanuatu and achieve better performance in building projects.

In Korea, there is a lack of adequate safety management for small-scale construction work, particularly when compared to large-scale construction projects. The number of construction disasters is also higher on small-scale construction sites. In this regard, this study aimed to develop the application prototype to support the safety management of small-scale construction projects. The major findings of the research are as follows. 1) About 60% of construction disasters and death occurred on small-scale construction sites over the last two years. In addition, institutional support and costs for safety management were found to be insufficient. 2) The items of the application for the small-scale construction safety management were constructed on the basis of the safety management of large-scale construction work. The contents of the application were confirmed based on a survey of small-scale construction project managers. 3) The application algorithm was developed with a focus on the roles of management subjects and information exchange. For transition from the application prototype presented in this study to a commercial product, further research needs to be conducted regarding the reflection of user requirements and application management subjects.

The construction projects are larger and more complex, and so the construction accidents are bigger. Recently, the studies for reducing the human errors are researched to decrease the construction accidents. The purpose of this study is to analysis a correlation between the safety education and human errors by construction workers. The results showed that the frequencies of safety education in large sized construction projects are more than these in small sized construction projects. However, all of construction projects conduct lower times of safety education than the regulated times. In addition, it is revealed that the human errors of construction workers in large sized construction projects are being lower in accordance with increasing the safety education times. In small sized construction projects, however, the human errors of construction workers are increasing according to more times of safety education, reversely. This study should help to reduce the accidents in construction projects.

The Sudanese construction sector is characterized by many small and large projects and high labor intensity, and accounted for 3.2% of the Sudanese country's GDP. The basic problems facing the Sudanese construction projects are the factors that affect on construction project performance. The objectives include identifying the factors affecting the performance of Sudanese construction projects, and to determine the critical factors. The literature review has been done to gather the information about the causes and their factors that affect on the performance of construction projects from the previous researches. The research methodology was conducted to gather the data by questionnaire which was examined to be reliable and valid according to statistical tests. The (34) factors were identified as factors affect on construction projects and the (10) factors were the critical factors which may lead to poor performance of Sudanese construction projects. This study has some conclusions such as the instrument for measuring the critical factors on the performance is reliable and valid, so the project management stage performance is 64.2%.
