Purpose: To develop efficient PL response system, SMEs should decide which component of PL response system is important and implemented with priority under limited resources. To accomplish this goal, we propose strategic priority components of PL response system for SME manufacturer. Methods: We categorize the components of PL response system based on prior research results - System, Organization, Training, Technology, Cost, and Awareness. AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) is applied to extract important components of PL response system, which is used in assigning the priority of component. To analyze effects of each components, performance sensitivity analysis is applied. Results: The survey analysis results show Technology is the most important components. Organization and Cost component are follows. As the importance of Technology is changed, we can find Organization, Cost is second and third important components. Conclusion: Our research shows Technology which is related to make a safe product with systematic process, is a basic enabler of PL response system. Also, building a PL team and securing a budget for PL activity should be carry out with limited resources.
IT technologies are closely related to our daily life, and we are experiencing the emergence of new IT devices every day. The ongoing rapid progress of IT technology results in the increasing demand of experienced software & hardware engineers, and leads to the short life cycle of lab kits. However, the normally small to medium sized manufacturers of lab kits usually cannot even afford to support timely update and upgrade of their own kits. In this paper, we propose a way of effectively running an IT course by building a Raspberry Pi based kit. Raspberry Pi has features that allow us to not only timely update/upgrade the kit, but also expose students to various IT fields.

Electric vehicles are widely produced from many car manufacturers around the world instead of internal combustion engine vehicle in order to respond a variety of environmental regulations. Also, they are applying for modular design method to develop plenty of the vehicles. And, both of these two issues will be an important trend to lead the future global automobile industries for a long time. In this paper, new brake architecture concept is proposed in order to respond to such a situation. First, physical interfaces between brake system like caliper, disc and other counter-parts are established for modular assembly. Second, we analyze effective factors of brake system for electric vehicles which need to reflect vehicle specifications such as total vehicle weight. Here, we consider ideal brake force by critical deceleration. Third, we simulate accumulated regenerative brake energy for two main driving modes to confirm to effectiveness for a variety of Electric Vehicle. Finally, we hope that it contributes to implement brake architecture for the development of Electric Vehicle platform through such a study.

The automobile industry has been rapidly developing and the manufacturers in Korea as well as auto makers in other advanced countries are putting every ounce of their energies in securing their competitive edges in technology and in marketing. To that purpose, each company focuses on (i) reducing costs and (ii) improving productivity. We believe that the improved productivity can be capitalized by a set of various factors including improved organization-internal environment and employees' job satisfaction. The present research aims to identify how the internal elements contribute and lead to improved productivity. The present paper is a report of an empirical survey performed to 161 employees working in small and medium-sized firms in the automobile industry. After testing reliability and validity of the collected data, we have performed structural equation analysis using Amos of SPSS and tested a set of research hypotheses and models. The reported results will clarify the factors that influence productivity and job satisfaction and also shed light on the directions for strategic polices to keep up with the ever changing climate of the industry.

At present, in the case of small and medium window manufacturers in South Korea, glazing and window frame manufacturers are divided into separate businesses. However, in the fenestration energy consumption efficiency rating system and the energy-saving design criteria for buildings, the coefficient of overall heat transmission standard for windows is defined by window sets, which integrate glazing and window frames. At most construction sites, windows are constructed by installing separately supplied glass and frames. Research that can integrate the reality and the system is therefore necessary. The present study first investigated and analyzed the on-site situation of the fenestration energy consumption efficiency rating system. According to the results, while overall understanding of the fenestration energy consumption efficiency rating system was high, satisfaction with it was low, and the general practice at construction sites was to use windows assembled on site rather than integrated window systems manufactured at factories, thus making it difficult to confirm that the current rating system was well applied on site. Consequently, the reality of industrial sites must be reviewed and a realistic alternative to the fenestration energy consumption efficiency rating system must be presented instead of focusing on theory.

This study empirically verified the effect of strategic orientation on information technology(IT) competency and corporate performance for organizational members engaged in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In the research model proposed in this study, strategic orientation affects corporate performance, and IT competency is used as a mediating variable in this process. For this study, a survey was conducted on organizational members working in small and medium-sized manufacturers located in Ulsan Metropolitan City. A total of 320 questionnaires were distributed, and 277 copies were used in this study. The collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 24.0. The research results are as follows: First, customer orientation, market orientation, and technology orientation of strategic orientation were found to have a positive (+) effect on both information technology knowledge and information technology operation of IT competency. And it was found that both customer orientation and technology orientation of strategic orientation only affects the information technology infrastructure of IT competency. Second, it was found that customer orientation and technology orientation of strategic orientation had a positive (+) effect on corporate performance, but market orientation had no effect on corporate performance. Third, it was found that information technology knowledge, information technology operation, and information technology infrastructure of IT competency had a positive (+) effect on corporate performance. Fourth, as a result of examining the mediating effect of information technology competency between strategic orientation and corporate performance, information technology knowledge, information technology operation, and information technology infrastructure of IT capability were found to have a partial mediating effect between customer orientation and technology orientation of strategic orientation and corporate performance. These research results suggest that in today's fourth industrial revolution era, customer-oriented and technology-oriented management strategies should be established to improve the competitive advantage and performance of small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in the supply chain with large enterprises, and at the same time information technology capabilities such as information technology knowledge, information technology operation, and information technology infrastructure should be strengthened.
Purpose: In this study, since the operation principle of the CCFL Exit light is the same as that of general lighting equipment, the characteristics of the CCFL Exit light were analyzed by deriving test items that can affect the characteristics of the light source from the KS standard, which is the standard for lamp ballast performance certification of general lighting equipment. Method: The samples used in the experiment were performed on products of two manufacturers for each size, such as large, medium, and small, and the test items were power factor, crest factor, and current harmonic distortion. Result: As a result of the experiment, the power factor showed a value between 0.4 and 0.6 in all samples, which was smaller than the 0.9 value set by KS. The crest factor ranged from 3.6 to 3.7 for large, 4.4 to 4.7 for medium, and 3.5 to 3.7 for small. It showed a value more than two times higher than the KS standard of 1.7. Current total harmonic distortion ranged from 81% to 110%, and considering that the KS standard was less than 20%, it could be confirmed that all samples had a value significantly exceeding the KS standard. Conclusion: The crest factor and current total harmonic distortion may affect the temperature rise of the light source and the burnout of the device. When developing an exit light, if this item is developed within the scope of the KS standard, the quality improvement and maintenance of the exit light will be greatly improved.

With the recent development of manufacturing technology and the diversification of consumer needs, not only the process and quality control of production have become more complicated but also the kinds of information that manufacturing facilities provide the user about process have been diversified. Therefore the importance of big data analysis also has been raised. However, most small and medium enterprises (SMEs) lack the systematic infrastructure of big data management and analysis. In particular, due to the nature of domestic manufacturing companies that rely on foreign manufacturers for most of their manufacturing facilities, the need for their own data analysis and manufacturing support applications is increasing and research has been conducted in Korea. This study proposes integrated analysis platform for process and quality analysis, considering manufacturing big data database (DB) and data characteristics. The platform is implemented in two versions, Web and C/S, to enhance accessibility which perform template based quality analysis and real-time monitoring. The user can upload data from their local PC or DB and run analysis by combining single analysis module in template in a way they want since the platform is not optimized for a particular manufacturing process. Also Java and R are used as the development language for ease of system supplementation. It is expected that the platform will be available at a low price and evolve the ability of quality analysis in SMEs.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the types and functions of brand labels on clothing. We surveyed the materials and manufacturing methods for brand labels by visiting the label stores and label manufacturers. 200 pieces of children's wear were surveyed. The label attributes that were studied were: the number of labels, the location of the labels, the attachment system for the labels, the color of the labels, the materials used to make the labels, manufacturing methods, and the size of the labels. From this investigation a brand label was classified into a main label and a point label. The main results were: 1. Materials such as fabrics, nonwovens, leather, suede, rubber, PVC, silicone, and metals are used for brand labels. The manufacturing methods for brand labels are weaving, printing, high frequency, heating, and molding. 2. More than 54% of clothes have more than two brand labels attached. This percentage exceeds the attaching of only one brand label in rate. An inside brand label is located at a certain place. This inside label uses only fabric material reflecting inherent brand color and design. The outside brand label is located at several places with consideration of the clothes design. This label uses various materials, colors, and characters matching with the clothes. As for the size, an inside label is mainly medium in size, whereas an outside label is small. 3. A brand label is classified into a main label (first label) and a point label (second label), which are defined as follows. A main label indicates the brand name and is located inside at a certain place using an inherent brand design and a fabric material. A point label is an additional label to express brand image and is located outside at various places for decoration using various characters and design and materials.

Product liability (PL), which began enforcement in 2002, refers to the legal responsibility of the manufacturers or sellers (wholesales or retailers) for the property damage or bodily harm caused by their product. With a strong enforcement of the Product Liability (PL) Act, companies are required to structure and operate a response system to defend or prevent product accidents efficiently, but small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are unable to respond more aggressively due to limitation of management resources. In this manner, it is important to develop response strategies for SMEs to efficiently cope with the PL Act. In this paper, the PEST (Political, Economic, Social, and Technological) analysis is performed to reveal the impact of the PL Act on SMEs in macro-economic point of view. To formulate SME's PL response strategy, SWOT analysis is performed to categorize each factors from PEST analysis and AHP is applied to identify the intensities of SWOT factors. The prioritized SWOT factor, results of PEST-SWOT-AHP analysis, are used to formulate SME's PL response strategies. The study results are briefly summarized as follows. To reduce product defects, it is necessary for SMEs to formulate PL response strategies for each phase of the product life cycle by continuously collecting and analyzing PL cases in the same industry or for similar products. In addition, SMEs should invest more technological effort to ensure product safety. Further, SMEs should spread PL awareness to all staff members by training internal PL experts. Moreover, a SME should enroll in PL insurance and spread this information to its customers so that they become aware that the company is proactively conforming to the PL law.
