  • Due to a rapid change of business environment, many firms are eager to find the competitiveness by information technology adoption and diffusion. In this exploratory study, we examined the applicability of a previously proposed model to evaluate IT competitiveness based on the innovativeness and verified it's propriety with empirical data. As suggested by previous studies, the proposed model considers a variety of corporate and market characteristics concerned with IT adoption, and it consists of several internal and external impacting factors, which have influence on technology diffusion and its performance. For the empirical analysis, the survey data of domestic ERP adoption cases were adopted from 128 small and medium-sized enterprises(: SMEs) in IT and electrical engineering industry, and analyzed by partial least squares(: PLS) - a popular structural modeling and multivariate projection technique to latent variables. The results indicated positive supports for the research model of external and internal IT adoption factors' influences on innovativeness' performances. However, there are a couple of limitations not to show the reliability of selected measurement items and the generality of model proposed in this exploratory study.

  • This paper aims to examine the role of government's support in facilitating small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)' green dynamic capabilities and green SCM practices in a global market. It also investigates whether government support, green dynamic capabilities, and green SCM practices affect export competitiveness. To develop those hypotheses, prior studies and in-depth interviews were conducted and data was collected from Korean manufacturing companies that export abroad and then developed the structural equation model. The hypotheses test results revealed that green dynamic capabilities through government support positively affect export competitiveness and green SCM practices through green dynamic capabilities have positive effects on export competitiveness. Finally, this study is valuable in that it directly and indirectly confirmed the effect of eco-friendly government support on export competitiveness.

  • A Smart factories are systems that enable quick response to customer demands, reduce defect rates, and maximize productivity. They have evolved from manual labor-intensive processes to automation and now to cyber-physical systems with the help of information and communication technology. However, many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are still unable to implement even the initial stages of smart factories due to various environmental and economic constraints. Additionally, there is a lack of awareness and understanding of the concept of smart factories. To address this issue, the Cooperation-based Smart Factory Construction Support Project was launched. This project is a differentiated support project that provides customized programs based on the size and level of the company. Research has been conducted to analyze the impact of this project on participating and non-participating companies. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of the support policy and suggest efficient measures for improvement. Furthermore, the research aims to provide direction for future support projects to enhance the manufacturing competitiveness of SMEs. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the overall manufacturing industry and drive innovation.

  • The express courier business in Korea has been recognized as one of promising business sectors with the annual growth rate of over 10 percent since 2001. As such many domestic and foreign companies have been established and are fiercely competing to extend their own market share. The severe competition has forced them to focus on achieving cost competitiveness and high level of customer service. Small and medium-sized enterprises( SMEs) with relatively poor network infrastructure in particular are facing tougher challenges to cost reduction and efficiency improvement in their logistics networks. Strategic alliances among SMEs may be an effective way to cope with these challenges. Therefore this study proposes an integer programming model for compromised network design and its solution procedure based on maxmin and maxsum criteria for strategic alliances. The applicability and efficiency of the proposed model are demonstrated through an illustrative numerical example.

  • The South Korean government is actively assisting the supply of the smart factory solutions to SMEs (Small & Medium-sized Enterprises) according to its manufacturing innovation 3.0 policy for the smart manufacturing as the 4th industrial revolution era unfolds. This study analyzed the impacts of the smart factory solutions, which have been supplied by the government, on the companies performances. The effects of the level of smart factory and the operation capabilities for the smart factory solutions on company performances, and the mediating effects of manufacturing capabilities have been analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. The data for this survey-based study were collected from the SMEs which implemented the smart factory solutions since 2015. The results show that the level of smart factory solutions adopted and operation capabilities for the smart factories do not have direct effects on the company performances, but their mediating effects on the manufacturing capabilities matter and the manufacturing capabilities effect directly on the company performances. In addition significant factors boosting the operation capability for the smart factory and the levels of the smart factory solutions are identified. Finally, the policy direction for enhancing the smart factory effects is presented, and the future research directions along with the limitations are suggested.

  • The role of Islamic spirituality in the relationship between organizational justice (OJ) and job satisfaction is investigated in this study (JS). The three components of OJ in this study are distributive, procedural, and interactional justice. Islamic spirituality (IS) is founded on piety values, and IS was used as a moderating factor in this study to alter the link between OJ and JS among Malaysian employees of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Four hundred sets of the questionnaire were issued using a simple random selection procedure, yielding 276 completed responses, suggesting a 69 percent response rate. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis (MLRA) was used to test the proposed relationships. The findings of the study demonstrate that the three OJ aspects have a considerable impact on employee JS, indicating the significance of these elements in ensuring that employees are satisfied with their jobs. IS, on the other hand, had no effect on the link between the OJ dimensions and JS. This research has added to the existing body of knowledge by giving further empirical evidence on the impact of OJ aspects on employee JS in SMEs, notably in Malaysia.
