A large number of the set-nets are set in Namhaedo coast of Korea. The floats of these set-nets are not only small even in case of large floats but also they scarcely have distinguishable marks such as light buoys or flags, so that they are very hard to be recognized by naked eyes and thus became probable obstacles to navigation for the passing ships and the fishing vessels. In order to research the capability of detecting such nets with Radar, the author investigated a maximum detectable range of the ordinarly large floatsand of a floating corner reflectors of various size and shape by Radar. The results obtained are as follows; 1. A maximum detectable range of large floats at a close range can be calculated by the Radar equation in sufficient accuracy. 2. Large floats of the large set-nets are also detectable by Radar even though it's detectable range boundary was within 0.2-0.65 miles. And the Radar picture of large floats was easier to be found with somewhat higher setting of the gain control on shorter range scale of the 1 mile. 3. Floating corner reflector rather suitable for set-net floats of "S" type reflector proposed in this paper, of which the dimension must be above 17cm in diameter to be detectable by Radar at 2 miles.t 2 miles.

Recently, the increasing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has led to its increased use in various fields in the shipbuilding and marine industries. For example, typical scenarios for AI include production management, analyses of ships on a voyage, and motion prediction. Therefore, this study was conducted to predict a response amplitude operator (RAO) through AI technology. It used a neural network based on one of the types of AI methods. The data used in the neural network consisted of the properties of the vessel and RAO values, based on simulating the in-house code. The learning model consisted of an input layer, hidden layer, and output layer. The input layer comprised eight neurons, the hidden layer comprised the variables, and the output layer comprised 20 neurons. The RAO predicted with the neural network and an RAO created with the in-house code were compared. The accuracy was assessed and reviewed based on the root mean square error (RMSE), standard deviation (SD), random number change, correlation coefficient, and scatter plot. Finally, the optimal model was selected, and the conclusion was drawn. The ultimate goals of this study were to reduce the difficulty in the modeling work required to obtain the RAO, to reduce the difficulty in using commercial tools, and to enable an assessment of the stability of medium/small vessels in waves.

The incidence of blindness after aneurysm surgery is very rare. We experienced a case of unilateral blindness after internal carotid artery[ICA] aneurysm wrapping. A 43-year-old male immediately developed ipsilateral ocular pain and visual loss in his left eye after the treatment of a lateral ICA aneurysm by wrapping with muscle pieces. He had also multiple aneurysms, which were multilobulated anterior communicating artery [A-com], middle cerebral artery[MCA] and posterior communicating artery [P-com] aneurysms. Coilings were done for a part of A-com artery aneurysm and P-com artery aneurysm on admission. The remaining A-com artery aneurysm was clipped and ICA aneurysm was wrapped with temporal muscle piece. A retrobulbar optic neuropathy might have resulted from either direct injury or damage to small dural vessels of the posterior optic nerve. Actually, the optico-carotid space was tight and the optic nerve was compressed by swollen muscle piece. Despite releasing of compression of the optic nerve on second day, his visual loss was irreversible.

According to growing the leisure boat market, safety-related and weather information have been required by different users with different electronic devices. NAVTEX messages transmitting worldwide from local stations are a kind of useful service, even for non mandatory carriage requirement vessel, such as small or fishing vessels. However, it is not easy for all users to recognize intuitively. This paper is to implement the NAVTEX message on tablet PC, indicating warning positions of message on Android-based google map.

Henoch-$Sch{\ddot{o}}nlein$ purpura (HSP) is the most common vasculitis in children, mainly affecting the small vessels of the skin, joints, gastrointestinal tract, and kidneys. Although most cases of HSP resolve spontaneously without sequelae, serious nephrological and intestinal problems may occur in some cases. We experienced a case of HSP complicated by simultaneous intussusception and nephritis in a 14-year-old boy who developed a sudden abdominal pain and gross hematuria on the 11th day after onset of the disease. Imaging studies revealed intussusception that required emergency laparotomy. Despite treatment with steroid and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, nephritis and nephrosis progressed for 4 weeks, and renal biopsy was performed to confirm the diagnosis. Cyclosporin A therapy was started, and remission of proteinuria was achieved after 5 months. However, the nephritis recurred and worsened to end-stage renal failure during 15 years of follow-up.

Over the past several years, a number of centers have reported favorable results of anatomical repair for the congenitally corrected transpositions. However, there have been subsequent problems related mainly to the results of atrial switch procedures in patients who had small atriums because of venoatrial obstructions or supraventricular arrhythmias, especially in patients with apicocaval juxtaposition. Cavopulmonary shunt may be a useful addition to the double switch operation in certain circumstances as a means of avoiding potential atrial complications. Herein, we describe the successful anatomical repair of congenitally corrected transposition of the great artery with pulmonary atresia, ventricular septal defect, and cavo apical juxtaposition with this modification.

Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a necrotizing vasculitis involving the small vessels without granulomatous inflammation. Most MPA initially presents with renal involvement without pulmonary involvement. Isolated and initially presenting alveolar hemorrhage is very rare. The patient was a 39-year-old female with a progressive cough, dyspnea, and blood-tinged sputum for the previous 5 days. We determined that her condition was MPA though VATS lung biopsy and renal biopsy. After 2 months of steroid therapy, the chest lesions had improved. We report here a rare case of MPA with isolated and initial involvement of the lung with a review of the literature.

According to the recent statistics of marine casualties in Korea, fishing boats are more likely to be ended in the casualties, and small fishing boats especially cause much more accidents in sinking and capsizing than any other big vessels. These casualties were mainly produced from the ignorance on the lack of own ship stability. From this view, this study aims to analyze the characteristics of stability on the crab trap fishing boat receiving transverse wave by means of carrying out the water tank test. The rolling angle of the model ship was affected largely with the displacement and the wave period of it, and the trends were shown that the magnitude of the angle was proportional to the displacement, but inversely to the wave period. And the wave height had effect on the rolling angle just in the specific range of the wave period. The force of steady wind didn't have influence on the rolling variation significantly.

Henoch-$Sch{\ddot{o}}nlein$ purpura(HSP) is one of the most common vasculitic diseases of childhood, referred to as a leukocytoclastic vasculitis affecting small vessels. Although HSP related gastrointestinal symptoms are seen in up to 80% of patients during acute illness, these symptoms are usually transient. However, some patients with HSP have gastrointestinal major surgical complications such as intussusception, bowel infarction, necrosis, stricture, and perforation. We experienced a rare case of HSP-related ileal perforation developed after corticosteroid treatment. We report a case with HSP-related intestinal perforation and assess the effect of corticosteroid on the outcome of abdominal pain in children with HSP.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to seek some alternative to overcome difficult shipping situations for overcapacity pursuing economy of scale, which is widely spread in world shipping. Research design, data, and methodology - The research method to be adopted is first to review evolution of larger ships in terms of theoretical overview, and shipping market is examined, and it is studied some problems and solutions in relation to larger ship as field research aspects. Results - Supply and demand of shipping market is flexible and unpredictable nature of market. Sometime fierce competition has spread out the market, and shipowner may deploy mega ship in terms of economy of scale, etc., to overcome the difficult market situations. Both carrier and shipper have their own positions in this matter concerned. However, it causes some problems in the market including port matters, etc. Therefore, it is asked to solve this problems of larger ship employed in the markets, throughout shipping alliances, etc. Conclusions - Over tonnage done by larger ship has caused some problems in the shipping markets, forming monopolistic market by small number of larger shipping companies, destroying oligopolistic nature of shipping business, therefore, the answer is strategic alliance to collaborate each other.
