  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a plan to improve the level of acceptance of related technologies and the transition to smart factories of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises by using 'technology readiness' and 'integrated technology acceptance model'. To this end, the research hypothesis was verified by collecting questionnaire data from 130 small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Korea and conducting path analysis.   • ERP system has been spreaded from large companies to many small and medium sized companies, and it is recognized as a basic system for optimum and efficient work process. The focus is moving from manufacturing companies to various specialized companies. Once ERP system was introduced to those specialized companies, there was attempt to customize an ordinary system which used in manufacturing companies, but it was hard to take effect due to the lack of experience and an inadequate analysis of work process. Some of foreign ERP packages are possible to be constructed for some companies. However, they are originally aim at a large enterprise and it is also very difficult to construct and maintain. For this reason, small and midium sized companies are having a difficulty to construct ERP system. This study deals with the construction of ERP system for small and medium sized design engineering company and introduction of the crucial points throughout the construction and requirements for composition module and customization of each main module. Based on the findings of this study, the specialized non-manufacturing companies are expected to have efficient and practical application of ERP system when they select and customize the ERP package of manufacturing companies.

  • A smart factory is recognized as a very important requirement for the survival and growth of a company, and it can be said to be an important factor in improving productivity and strengthening competitiveness of a company. In particular, many small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Korea are making efforts to meet the needs of various markets through smart factories. Building and utilizing smart factories is very important for improving and innovating the production environment of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies.   • To promote the efficiency of production process of small and medium sized company, government conducts production information business that collects and analyzes information of production field automatically and helps process' controlling and supervising by supporting costs of purchase, installment, etc. of hard-software and network related to middle and small sized company intending e-Manufacturing of production field with computer and information & communication network. As a result, the number of middle and small sized companies that introduce and manage production information system is increased. Therefore, the purposes of this research are to arrange contents of production information system introduced to solve current problems of middle and small sized companies and analyze effects of small and middle sized companies' introduction through example companies.

  • In this paper, it is indicated that, currently, foundation of small and medium businesses is generally increasing in number, but the establishment of manufacturing companies is very slow. This is because of many factors interfering with promotion of the opening of small and medium businesses such as endless bakruptcies of the businesses and uncertain perspective. Therefore, it will be expected to encourage people to start business and activate establishment of small and medium sized manufacturing companies by improving tax support systems and providing tax support information services for founed companies and foundation supporting companies.

  • At present, more than 80% export made by Korean small-medium sized companies is OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturing). But OEM export of made-in korea products has been facing limitations from 1990s. Some leading companies among those small-medium sized companies which have been fulfilling OEM export are transferring their exporting strategies to Own Brand or ODM(Original Development/Design Manufacturing) and some of their strategies successful. However, most of small-medium sized OEM exporting companies are still groping for some ways to upgrading to Own Brand or ODM exporting strategies. Therefore, this article deals with how the leading ODM exporting companies have been transferred from OEM to ODM exporting strategies. It also discusses the primary factors of success and barrier and how to develop the ODM exporting strategies based on investigating literature and interviews with the leading ODM exporting companies.

  • Small & medium companies in Korea have a high frequency of industrial injuries. And among them, manufacturing companies are most severe on side of the frequence rate of injuries. In this study, the measures to improve the safety management system of small & medium sized manufacturing companies in 4 city of Kyungpook are sampled in accordance with the type of industrial and the scale. The current status of management system are also investigated by the questions and answers from safety manager of those companies. The results obtained by this study were the improvement of main factors(safety education & training, safety device, working environment, safety consciousness) for industrial accident prevention.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of quality management system requirements, which are techniques for management innovation to secure competitiveness of small and medium-sized manufacturers, on management performance as economic uncertainties increase and non-face-to-face culture spread. To this end, a survey was conducted on small and medium-sized manufacturing companies that maintain ISO certification. As a result of the study, first, it was found that planning had a positive effect on management performance among the requirements of the quality management system. Second, it was found that improvement among the requirements of the quality management system had a positive effect on management performance. Third, in the relationship between the requirements of the quality management system and management performance, leadership was found to have a complete mediating effect on planning. This means that the CEO plays a large role in establishing strategies for companies to gain a competitive advantage and will contribute to establishing all measures.

  • The smart factory is an important system that can reduce defects, maximize productivity, and respond to customer needs, from the labor-intensive era of traditional small and medium-sized manufacturing companies through the automation era to CPS using ICT. However, small and medium-sized manufacturers often fall short of the basic stage due to economic and environmental constraints, and there are many companies that do not even recognize the concept of a smart factory. In this situation, to expand the smart factory of small and medium-sized enterprises, the project to support the establishment of a smart factory for the win-win between large and small enterprises. The win-win smart factory construction support project provides a customized differentiation program support project according to the size and level of the company for all domestic manufacturing SMEs regardless of whether or not they are dealing with Samsung. In this study, we analyze the construction status and introduction performance of companies participating in the win-win smart factory support project to find out whether they have been helpful in management and to find efficient ways to improve support policies, and to suggest the direction of continuous support projects to improve the manufacturing competitiveness of SMEs in the future.

  • Numerous small and medium-sized manufacturing companies have implemented or plan to introduce ERP for their own survival in the highly competitive global market. Despite of increasing number of companies implementing ERP, there has been few research on evaluation of ERP performance in small and medium manufacturers. Thus, in this paper, the impact of ERP implementation on the organizational performance based on Balanced Score Card is investigated and also critical success factors are discovered. The results of analysis show positive relationships between the ERP implementation and organizational performance. This paper suggests some practical implication on the ERP implementation to the practitioners.
