정수 슬러지 발생량 조사 및 슬러지 처리시설의 공정평가 (Research of Sludge Quantity and Evaluation of Sludge Handling Facilities in Water Treatment Plants)

  • Sludge quantity has increased at "A"water treatment plant due to deterioration of raw water quality and GAC installation. Increased sludge resulted in overloading on sludge handling facilities. The object of this study is to survey sludge quantity and capacity of sludge handling facilities at "A"water treatment plant. Measured quantity of sedimentation sludge considerably exceeded the design capacity of sludge holding basin. Sludge holding basin was properly designed, but low concentration of sludge discharged from sedimentation basin caused production of large volume of the sludge. Timer operated control system for sludge withdrawal unit and leakage through a control valve were suspected to cause the low concentration. Augmentation of the control system by a turbidity meter and addition of a new control valve successfully reduced the sludge volume enough to satisfy the design capacity of sludge holding basin. Unlike sedimentation sludge, measured quantity of washwater was considerably less than the design capacity of washwater basin because it was over-designed.

침전 슬러지와 가축분의 유기산화 및 발효유기산이 탈질반응에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Organic Acids Fermented from the Settled Sludge and Animal Organic Wastes on the Denitrification)

  • Fermentation efficiencies of organic wastes from the variety of sources were evaluated based on the production of total volatile acids(TVA) in batch reactor. Mixing and pH were not significant factors in producing TVA from the organic wastes. After a 10-day fermentation, final TVA concentrations in piggery, cattle, poultry, and primary settled sludge of domestic wastewater were 8,900, 2,900, 7,370 and 1,630 mg/L, respectively. The pH of organic wastes was decreased from neutral to 5.7. The ratio of TVA to $NH_4{^+}-N$ produced from the animal waste ranged from 11.5 to 30.1, whereas, that in the primary settled sludge of domestic wastewater, was 5.4. Possibility of fermented organic wastes as the electron donors for denitrification in the activated sludge was investigated. In both acclimated and nonacclimated activated sludge, higher denitrification rates were obtained with fermented piggery sludge added than with either methanol or acetate added. The fermented organic acids derived from the primary settled sludge gave the higher denitrification rate ($4.2mg\;NO_3-N/g\;vss{\cdot}hr$) in the acclimated activated sludge. Denitrification rate was $1.5mg\;NO_3-N/g\;vss{\cdot}hr$ in the nonacclimated sludge with the fermented acids from the primary settled sludge of domestic wastewater added.

하수의 독성평가를 위한 표준독성시험법과 온도증가 단기독성평가법의 비교 평가 (Evaluation and Comparison with Standard 48 hr Acute Bioassay and High Temperature Rapid Toxicity Test for Sewage Toxicity Test)

  • Ceriodaphnia dubia를 이용한 새로운 독성시험법인 온도증가 단기독성평가법(ToxTemp, ToxCity test based on TEMPerature control)을 이용하여 농약성분에 대한 민감도를 조사하였다. BPMC, Diazinon, Fenitrothion등 하수의 생물학적 처리에 독성을 나타낼 수 있는 물질들에 대하여 기존의 실험방법인 표준 48시간 독성시험법과 비교했을 때 온도증가법은 $1{\sim}1.5$시간의 짧은 접촉시간에도 농약의 독성을 잘 감지할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 중금속, 독성 유기화합물 그리고 농약성분을 비교, 평가했을 때 온도증가법은 1.25시간의 짱은 접촉시간 내에 48시간독성법의 결과와 높은 상관관계를 유지하며 독성을 감지하였다. 염색공단 폐수와 하수 등 실폐수에서의 독성평가능을 검토하기 위하여 활성슬러지를 이용한 질산화율, 산소이용율(OUR)과 C. dubia를 이용한 표준 48시간 독성시험법, 온도증가법을 비교하였다. 그 결과 OUR을 이용한 평가에서는 비교적 높은 질산화율 저해도를 보인 원수에 대해서도 독성민감도가 낮아 현장적용에 한계를 나타낸 반면 C. dubia를 이용한 표준 48시간 독성시험법과 온도증가법은 각기 다른 수준의 독성에 대해 민감하게 차이를 보였으며, 이 두 방법은 질산화율 저해도와 좋은 상관관계를 보였다. 온도증가법은 표준 48시간 독성시험법에 비해 1.5% 정도 민감도가 떨어지지만 현장에서의 신속한 감지가 가능하다는 점에서 현장에서의 질산화 독성진단에 대한 적용가능성이 높음을 보여주었다.
