  • Good estimation of the slopes of the mixture response function may be important as well as estimation of mean mixture response. It is possible to evaluate and compare several mixture designs with respect to the slope. A graphical method is proposed that allows us to evaluate a given design's support for the fitted model in terms of slope variance. We can plot variances of slopes along Cox direction according to existence of restriction of simplex region when comparing several different mixture designs.

  • In this paper, an estimation scheme with the IMM algorithm to estimate radome slope and target states is used to reduce the radome induced miss distance effectively in spatial active homing engagements of an anti-air missile. The filter algorithm in conjunction with proportional navigation guidance is tested by a series of simulation runs.

  • In this paper a class of multifactor designs for estimating the slope of second order response surface regression models with correlated errors is considered. General conditions for second order slope rotatability over all directions and also with respect to the maximum directional variance in case of k=2 have been derived assuming errors have a general correlated error structure. And we consider the measures for evaluating slope rotatability with correlated errors similar to in case of uncorrelated error structures.

  • This study determines the stream mean slope, stream slope and longitudinal stream profile based on the concept of informational entropy. Maximizing the entropy will make the probability distribution of longitudinal stream profile as uniform as possible while satisfying the constraints. Using this relationships the mean stream slope, stream slope and longitudinal stream profile formulas were derived. The parameters of the applied streams were estimated by the least square method using the geomorphological factors of Dalchon stream basin obtained from Chungcheong Buk-Do local stream consolidation scheme drawings. The comparative investigation was performed between the observed and simulated mean stream slope and longitudinal stream profile, and are in good agreement with the measured data. It is noted that this results can be used in the estimation of stream mean slope and longitudinal stream profile.

  • The tracked SUGVs(Small Unmanned Ground Vehicles) are frequently operated in the narrow slope such as stairs and trails. But due to the nature of the tracked vehicle which is steered using friction between the track and the ground and the limited field of view of driving cameras mounted on the lower position, it is not easy for SUGVs to trace narrow slopes. To properly trace inclined narrows, it is very important for SUGVs to keep it's heading direction to the slope. As a matter of factor, no roll value control of a SUGV can makes it's heading being located in the direction of the slope in general terrains. But, the problem is that we cannot directly control roll motion for SUGV. Instead we can control yaw motion. In this paper, a new slope driving method that enables the vehicle trace the narrow slopes with IMU sensor usually mounted in the SUGV is suggested which including an estimation technique of the desired yaw angle corresponding to zero roll angle. In addition, a fuzzy steering controller robust to changes in driving speed and the stair geometry is designed to simulate narrow slope driving with the suggested method. It is shown that the suggested method is quite effective through the simulation.

  • Vehicle dynamic states used in various advanced driving safety systems are influenced by road geometry. Among the road geometry information, the vehicle pitch angle influenced by road slope and acceleration-deceleration is essential parameter used in pose estimation including the navigation system, advanced adaptive cruise control and others on sag road. Although the road slope data is essential parameter, the method measuring the parameter is not commercialized. The digital map including the road geometry data and high-precision DGPS system such as DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) based RTK(Real-Time Kinematics) are used unusually. In this paper, low-cost cascade extended Kalman filter(CEKF) based road slope estimation method is proposed. It use cascade two EKFs. The EKFs use several measured vehicle states such as yaw rate, longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration and wheel speed of the rear tires and 3 D.O.F(Degree Of Freedom) vehicle dynamics model. The performance of proposed estimation algorithm is evaluated by simulation based on Carsim dynamics tool and T-car based experiment.

  • In Korea, most landslides occurr during the rainy season and have shallow failure planes parallel to the slope. For these types of rainfall-induced failures, the most important factor triggering slope unstability is decrease in the matric suction of unsaturated soils with increasing saturation depth by rainfall infiltration. For this reason, estimation of cumulative infiltration has a significance. In this study, infiltration rate and cumulative infiltration are estimated by using both Mein & Larson model based on Green-Ampt infiltration model and using modified Mein & Larson model to which unsteady rainfall is applied. According to the results, the modified model is more reasonable than Mein & Larson method itself in estimation of infiltration rate and saturation depth because of considering real pending condition.

  • Yield seismic coefficient plays an important role in the estimation of permanent displacement of a soil slope subjected to earthquake using Newmark's sliding block theory. However, yield seismic coefficients currently used in practices are not mechanically rigorous since most of them are estimated using limit equilibrium methods considering equilibrium condition only. Therefore, estimation of permanent displacement of a soil slope based on existing yield seismic coefficient may cause problems. Limit analysis estimating the range of mechanically rigorous solution is thought to be effective in evaluating the validity of existing yield seismic coefficient. In this study, a simple stability chart for yield seismic coefficient useful in practices is proposed by considering various slope conditions including stability number, slope inclination, strength parameters, etc.

  • We consider adaptive L-estimation of estimating slope parameter in regression model. The proposed estimator is simple extension of trimmed least squares estimator proposed by ruppert and carroll. The efficiency of the proposed estimator is especially well compared with usual least squares estimator, least absolute value estimator, and M-estimators designed for asymmetric distributions under asymmetric error distributions.

  • By applying slope estimator under the arbitrary error distributions proposed by Han(1993), if we define regression quantiles to give upper and lower trimming part and blocks of data, we show the proposed slope estimator has asymptotically efficient slope estimator when the number of regression quantiles to from blocks of data goes to sufficiently large.
