Conclusion: The results of this study suggests to adjustment of the level III, that which has high activity level of multifidus and gluteus maximus affecting trunk stability during bridging exercise using a sling.
Objectives : A ruptured disc is a condition in which part or all of the nucleus pulposus is forced through a weakened part of the disc, resulting in back pain and leg pain caused by nerve root irritation. In this report, we investigated the effect of oriental medicine treatment in parallel with sling exercise therapy on ruptured intervertebral lumbar disc patients. Methods : The patients who have ruptured disc were treated by oriental medicine treatment in parallel with sling exercise therapy. The patients' symptoms were assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS) and revised oswestry disability questionnaire(RODQ) every week. Results : In all cases, chief complain such as lumbago, radicular pain and paresthesia were improved after above treatment. VAS score and RODQ score of all cases were decreased. Conclusions : There were usually thought to need operation in ruptured disc. But conservative treatment such as oriental medicine treatment in parallel with sling exercise therapy is helpful to improve the symptoms of the ruptured intervertebral lumbar disc except the emergency state.

PURPOSE: This examined the effects of a sling exercise based on music on the cognition, physical performance of patients with dementia. METHODS: Thirty subjects with dementia volunteered to participate in this study. All subjects were allocated randomly to either the experimental group or control group, with 15 subjects in each group. All subjects underwent the exercise program for an average of 60 minutes per day for 16 weeks. The experimental group performed sling exercise based on music, and the control group performed the general exercise program. Assessments were made using the Korean version of mini-mental state examination (MMSE-K), 10 m walk test (10MWT), Tinetti mobility test (TMT), and Katz's Index of Independence in activity daily living (KIIADL) to detect changes in the cognitive level and physical performance before and after the 16-week training period. A paired t-test was conducted to compare the within-group change before and after the intervention. An independent t-test was performed to compare the between-group difference. The statistical significance level was set to α=.05 for all variables. RESULTS: The experimental group showed significant within-group changes in the MMSE-K, 10MWT, TMT, and KIIADL (p<.05). The control group showed a significant change in only the KIIADL (p<.05). A significant difference was observed between the experimental group and the control group regarding the change in MMSE-K and KIIADL after the interventions (p<.05). CONCLUSION: A music-based sling exercise program effectively improves cognition, physical performance, and ADL in patients with dementia. Further studies with a wider range of subjects and scientific equipment will be needed to strengthen the results of this study.

Background: Patellofemoral pain is one of the common diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Many previous studies have recommended the application of exercise therapy to patellofemoral pain patients for treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of coordinative locomotor training (CLT) and sling exercise combined program on knee pain and functional movement in patellofemoral pain patient. Methods: In this study, single-subject design (A-B-A') was conducted for 6 weeks. A repeted-measure analysis was conducted to assess results of the anterior knee pain scale (AKPS), Clarke's test (CT), eccentric step down test (ESDT). During the intervention (B), the CLT and sling exercise combined program was conducted three times a week for 4 weeks. Results: From baseline period A to intervention period B, the AKPS, CT, ESDT were improved from 61 to 48 (27%), from 8.33 to 3 (64%), from 7.67 to 3,58 (53%). From baseline period A to baseline period A', the AKPS, CT, ESDT were improved from 70.67 to 48 (47%), from 0.67 to 3 (92%), from 1.33 to 3,58 (83%). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, we recommend the application of CLT and sling exercise combined program to improve the pain and functional movement in patellofemoral pain patients.
The purpose of this study is to see how the sling lumbar stabilization exercise affects muscle body type and subjective pain degree of 17 middle-age men who are diagnosed with sacroiliac joint syndrome and investigate the effectiveness. The subjects of this study are patients who have been diagnosed with sacroiliac joint syndrome through tests like X-ray in S Orthopedics in C City and have had chronic lumbar pain for more than 6 months and the before and after results about subjective pain degree through three dimension Moire Muscle Body Type Tester and subjective pain degree through VAS Pain Awareness after sling lumbar stabilization exercise 3 times a week, 30 minutes a time, total 24 times for 8 weeks have revealed the following: The change of muscle body type has been comprehensively improved in the statistics before and after the exercise and the subjective pain degree has also comprehensively decreased in the statistics. Therefore, sling lumbar stabilization exercise is proved to give positive affect to muscle body type and pain improvement of the patients with sacroiliac joint syndrome.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sling exercise convergence with passive vibration on balance and gait in stroke patients. One time 35 minutes three times a week for six weeks. The sling exercise experimental group and the control group were divided into eight members. Balance and gait were measured. There was a significant difference between the eyes open standing and the eyes closed standing in the comparison between the experimental group and the control group. The experimental and control groups showed significant differences in the groups of eyes open standing and eyes closed standing, limits of stability and gait speed before and after intervention. Vibration sling exercise may help to improve the balance and gait of stroke patients. In the future, many patients, various frequencies, and effective exercise periods are needed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of a sling suspension exercise with abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM) on the thickness of abdominal muscles. Method: Twenty healthy young women volunteered for this study, and they were randomly assigned to either the control group or experimental group. Subjects of both groups performed the ADIM in standard method. And subjects of the experimental group underwent a structured sling exercises additionally, which consists of bridging exercise on supine, elbow support and trunk control exercise on prone, and trunk flexion exercises. The exercises were performed thirty minutes per day, 3 times a week for a 4-week period. Thickness of abdominal muscles (transverse abdominis; TrA, internal obliques; IO and external obliques; EO) was measured by using real-time ultrasonography. Results: After the intervention, subjects of the experimental group appeared to be significantly increased for the thickness of the TrA (p<.05). However, significant difference weren't found for the IO and EO (p>.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that sling suspension exercise with the ADIM may be favorably used to augment trunk stabilizing effort by increasing TrA thickness. Further studies need in this field.
Objective : Microvascular decompression (MVD) for hemifacial spasm (HFS) involving the vertebral artery (VA) can be technically challenging. We investigated the therapeutic effects of a bioglue-coated Teflon sling technique on the VA during MVD in 42 cases. Methods : A bioglue-coated Teflon sling was crafted by the surgeon and applied to patients in whom neurovascular compression was caused by the VA. The radiologic data, intra-operative findings with detailed introduction of the procedure, and the clinical outcomes of each patient were reviewed and analyzed. Results : The 42 patients included in the analysis consisted of 22 females and 20 males, with an average follow-up duration of 76 months (range 24-132 months). Intraoperative investigation revealed that an artery other than the VA was responsible for the neurovascular compression in all cases : posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) in 23 patients (54.7%) and anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) in 11 patients (26.2%). All patients became symptom-free after MVD. Neither recurrence nor postoperative neurological deficit was noted during the 2-year follow-up, except in one patient who developed permanent deafness. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak occurred in three patients, and one required dural repair. Conclusion : Transposition of the VA using a bioglue-coated Teflon sling is a safe and effective surgical technique for HFS involving the VA. A future prospective study to compare clinical outcomes between groups with and without use of this novel technique is required.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of 6 weeks of sling exercises on female patients 20 years of age with low back pain according to flexibility, balance, muscle strength and pelvic tilt. Method : The 20 female patients who complained of back pain were divided into two groups. The experimental group exercised for 40 minutes, 3 times a week for 6 weeks. The control group did not. Both groups were measure for flexibility, balance, muscular strength, and pelvic tilt angle. Result : Curvature of the experimental flexibility, stretch, balance, muscle strength of the trunk forward, backward, left rotation, right rotation for the sling exercise group had significant differences. However, pelvic tilt did not show a significant difference. Control of the stretch of the flexibility, balance, and muscle strength of the trunk posterior showed significant differences for the sling exercise group. Conclusion : Although significant differences were found in flexibility, balance, muscular strength, there was no difference in pelvic tilt. When selecting subjects, we believe patients with regular patterns of pain will be more effective for statistical analysis of the changes in pelvic tilt.
Background: Bridging exercises are used to enhance the functional stability of the lumbopelvic region in clinical settings. Although most of the studies on bridging exercises have compared the complete activation of the trunk muscles, some recent studies have examined the functional stability of the trunk and the lumbopelvic region and assessed the appropriate recruitment of the local and global muscles during different task levels. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in muscle thickness in the transverse abdominis (TrA), internal oblique (IO), and external oblique (EO) muscles during a common bridging exercise on an unstable surface and to determine whether these changes differ based on the surface used. Methods: Twenty-five healthy young adults (8 males, 17 females) were recruited. The subjects were randomly assigned to either the exercise progression with a sling bridge group or the ball bridging exercise progression group, each with three stages of increasing difficulty. Each position was measured three times with an ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system, and the mean values were recorded for analysis. Results: No significant differences were observed between the TrA, IO, or EO muscle thickness ratios between the sling and ball exercise groups (p > 0.05). There were also no significant differences in the EO muscle thickness ratios between the tasks irrespective of whether the sling or ball was used. However, the TrA and IO thickness ratios in both groups were significantly greater during stages 2 and 3 compared to stage 1. Conclusion: The results suggest that the use of slings and balls during bridging exercises is effective in activating the deep abdominal muscles.
