  • This paper presents a new speed and position sensorless control method of permanent magnet synchronous motors based on the sliding mode observer. Since the parameter of the dynamic equation such as machine inertia or viscosity friction coefficient are not well known and these values can be easily changed generally during normal operation, there are many restrictions in the actual implementation. The proposed adaptive sliding mode observer applies adaptive scheme so that observer may overcome the problem caused by using the dynamic equation. Furthermore, using the Lyapunov Function, the adaptive sliding mode observer can estimate rotor speed as well as stator resistance. The feasibility of the Proposed observer is verified cia the experiments.

  • Based on the sliding mode control theory, a decentralized controller design method is developed for a large scale system with a poly topic model. In terms of LMIs, we derive sufficient conditions for the existence of the decentralized controller guaranteeing a stable sliding motion. We also give an LMI-based control design algorithm. Finally, the proposed method is applied to decentralized stabilization of double-inverted pendulums. Simulation results show that our method gives not only the robust stability but perfect rejection of norm-bounded uncertainties.

  • In this paper, a discrete-time sliding mode controller for linear time-varying systems with disturbances is proposed. The proposed method guarantees the systems state is globally uniformly ultimately bounded(G.U.U.B) under the existence of time-varying disturbances.

  • The sliding mode control in an effective method to eatablish robustness against parameter variation and disturbance. But. In sliding mode strategy, the control function is discontinuous on the hyperplane. However the discontinuous change in control structure caves the controller input to chaffer and gives non-zero steady state error. Consequently, a multiloop feedback control system supplemented by a complelmentary controller is used to improved the drive performence of a DC servo motor and reduce sensitivity to parameter variation, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances.

  • In this paper we present a new method to control system design using a sliding mode. The objective of this research is to develop the algorithm for the sliding mode control which is able to remove the chattering phenomena and to reduce the reaching phase. To accomplish this approach we introduce switching dynamics instead of switching logics to obtain the sliding mode. Consequently, we can obtain the new design approach which is much simpler than the VSS theory. And there do not exist chattering phenomena in this method because the obtained control input are continuous. Simultaneously we can reduce the reaching phase by a suitable choice of design factor. Numerical examples are discussed as illustration.

  • This paper proposes a sliding-mode-based direct power control (DPC) method in a three-phase boost rectifier without the use of a voltage sensor. This sliding-mode-based DPC is used to improve transient-state response characteristics. This DPC can eliminate voltage sensors by calculating a voltage using a sensorless method, thus considerably reducing cost. This DPC first presents an effective algorithm that does not significantly affect the previous performance and does not need a voltage sensor. Thereafter, the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear controller based on adaptive sliding-mode method which has a sliding surface vector including new boundary function is proposed and applied to a two-wheeled voiding mobile robot (WMR). This controller makes the welding point of WMR achieve tracking a reference point which is moving on a smooth curved welding path with a desired constant velocity. The mobile robot is considered in view of a kinematic model and a dynamic model in Cartesian coordinates. The proposed controller can overcome uncertainties and external disturbances by adaptive sliding-mode technique. To design the controller, the tracking error vector is defined, and then the new sliding is proposed to guarantee that the error vector converges to zero asymptotically. The stability of the dynamic system will be shown through the Lyapunov method. The simulations is shown to prove the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple method to control the servo system with sliding mode in the parameter variation and disturbances. We show the comparison between the conventional sliding line and the new sliding line and the proposed sliding mode control. The performance of the fast response and no overshoot by using the proposed sliding line is obtained.

  • This paper proposes an online gain tuning algorithm for a robust sliding mode speed controller of surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drives. The proposed controller is constructed by a fuzzy neural network control (FNNC) term and a sliding mode control (SMC) term. Based on a fuzzy neural network, the first term is designed to approximate the nonlinear factors while the second term is used to stabilize the system dynamics by employing an online tuning rule. Therefore, unlike conventional speed controllers, the proposed control scheme does not require any knowledge of the system parameters. As a result, it is very robust to system parameter variations. The stability evaluation of the proposed control system is fully described based on the Lyapunov theory and related lemmas. For comparison purposes, a conventional sliding mode control (SMC) scheme is also tested under the same conditions as the proposed control method. It can be seen from the experimental results that the proposed SMC scheme exhibits better control performance (i.e., faster and more robust dynamic behavior, and a smaller steady-state error) than the conventional SMC method.
