  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of body-shape perception and periodontal diseases in female adolescents based on the sixth 3rd-year(2015) data of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The subjects in this study were 211 female teenagers who were at the western ages of 12 to 18. As a result of analyzing, it's found that the body-shape perception of the female teens were linked to age, sleep hours, BMI, weight control and toothbrushing frequency, and whether they had periodontal diseases or not was found to be under the influence of age, smoking, sleep hours, stress, BMI and toothbrushing frequency. When the relationship between their body-shape perception and peridontal diseases was analyzed by controlling the confounders, the adolescents who considered their own bodies to be obese suffered from 3.18-fold more periodontal diseases(OR=3.18, 95% CI: 1.21, 8.38) than the teenagers who considered their body shape to be average. In the future, oral health care should be provided in consideration of the mental health of female adolescents to prevent periodontal diseases.

  • The present study aims to provide efficient regimen by means of the Oriental medicine tool to measure Yangseng developed to fit the situation of Korea. For this purpose, the elderly people aged older than 65 were selected and their level of Yangseng was compared and analyzed depending on their perception of health. From the study, following conclusions could be drawn: 1. The total subject of study were 763 consisting mostly of the illiterate and spoused with disease but without leisure activities. 2. Most of the subjects were found to have little confidence with their health. With regard to their level of Yangseng, higher points were rated in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, diet, mind yangseng, sleep, seasonal yangseng, exercise and sex life in order. 3. By socio-demographic characters for the group with confidence in health, there were more male than female, with spouse, disease and leisure activities currently. In the group without confidence in health, there were more female, without spouse and leisure activity but with disease presently. 4. As for the level of Yangseng in the group with confidence in health, higher points were recorded in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, mind yangseng, diet, sleep, exercise and sex life in order. In case of the group without confidence in health, higher points were recorded in morality yangseng, followed by activities & rest, diet, mind yangseng, sleep, exercise and sex life in order. From the above outcomes, it would be necessary to motivate the subjects to have a renewed concept for health and efficient regimen. Continued and repeated eforts should be made to fill the gap in the study using the tool to measure Yangseng of the elderly people.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of aroma-inhalation on depression, sleep, mood, and smell in stroke patients and their caregivers. Method: This study employed one group pretest-posttest repeated design. Data were collected at three time points: baseline(pre-test), 10 days and 20 days after the intervention(Post-test1 and post-test2, respectively). The sample included a total of 23 subjects. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 program using repeated measure ANOVA. Results: Depression was not statistically significant difference among pre-test, post-test1 and post-test2. Sleep was improved after intervention $37.61{\pm}7.41$(pre-test), $41.22{\pm}8.26$ (post-test1), $44.33{\pm}7.67$(post-test2) (F=8.182. p=.001) Mood was significantly improved after intervention: $16.95{\pm}4.89$(pre-test), $14.89{\pm}6.31$(post-test1), $12.11{\pm}5.04$(post-test2). Smell including smell perception, discomfort due to smell and relation between age and smell was significantly improved after intervention: $2.63{\pm}1.20$ (pre-test). $2.00{\pm}1.16$(post-test1), $1.63{\pm}.96$(post-test2) (F=6.176. p=.006) in smell perception, $2.50{\pm}1.10$ (pre-test). $1.81{\pm}.91$(post-test1), $1.19{\pm}.40$(post-test2) (F=12.26. p=.000) in discomfort due to smell and $3.53{\pm}1.18$(pre-test). $2.59{\pm}1.46$(post-test1), $2.53{\pm}1.33$(post-test2) (F=4.148, p=.025) in relation between age and smell. Conclusion: The results suggest that aroma-inhalation may have an effect on sleep, mood and smell and can be effective nursing intervention to increase the relaxation in stroke patients and their caregivers.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the drinking, stress, and sleep on depression of Korean obese women. Methods: The data of this study were derived from the Sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VI-3), conducted from January to December 2015 by Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study subjects were 935 adult women between 20 and 70 years old (Body Mass Index${\geq}25$). The data were analyzed by the complex sampling design method applying the weights to the IBM SPSS 23.0 program. Results: The study result showed that the frequency of binge drinking, stress perception, sleeping time and depression of Korean obese women showed significant differences according to age group. In the 20-30's, the stress and sleeping time, the 40-50's were drinking at once, the frequency of drinking and stress, and the drinking and stress at 60-70's were significantly associated with an increased risk of depression in obese women. Conclusion: The intervention program for the management of depression in Korean obese women should include the strategies for managing stress and drinking, taking into account differences according to age.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the factors associated with postpartum depression and its influence on maternal identity of postpartum women. Methods: Research design was a cross sectional descriptive study with a total of 89 women within the six month postpartum period. Associations of eating habits, overall sleep quality and other factors with postpartum depression utilizing the Korean Beck Depression Inventory (K-BDI) were done. The influence of postpartum depression on maternal identity was analyzed. Variables yielding significant associations (p<.05) were included in an adjusted logistic regression and a stepwise multiple regression. Results: Mean scores of postpartum depression was $9.42{\pm}6.08$ and 31.5% (n=28) for mild depression, 11.2% (n=10) was moderate and 4.5% (n=4) was severe depression on the K-BDI scale. Perceived health status and overall sleep quality were predictors of postpartum depression. Postpartum depression and the husband's love were predictors of maternal identity. Conclusion: Awareness of poor health perception and sleep quality will be helpful to detect for postpartum depression. Strategies to increase maternal identity during the postpartum period would be tailored by level of depression.

  • Auditory hallucinations are cardinal feature of psychosis. But the mechanism of hallucinated speech is unknown. The hypothesis that these hallucinations arise from pathologically altered brain monitoring system underlying speech perception is influential. With the help of rapidly developing neuroimaging study technologies, many researchers have been finding new organic deficits in the hallucinated schizophrenic patient's brain. In this article, we reviewed the general appearance of hallucination, a computer simulation model of hallucination and several neuroimaging study findings on hallucinating schizophrenic patients. In conclusion, we presented the presumptive mechanism of hallucination based on the anatomical dysfunction of schizophrenia.
