Most high rise buildings have been constructed with steel structure systems with metal deck floors and concrete topping. Since the mass of the metal deck floor system is relatively thinner than that of the concrete floor system and due to the larger span compared to other floor systems, vibration serviceability problems are frequently occurred. Most of vibration problems are induced by the movement of humans. A walking load function was proposed for the better estimation of composite deck floor vibration based on site measurements in this paper.

Recently, research on the development of a composite slab system for shorting the construction period by simplifying the process by omitting the form work and the reinforcement placing is underway. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term behavior of a simplified slab system that replaces the form work and tensile reinforcement using structural deck-plate and replaces the temperature reinforcement using steel fiber reinforced concrete. In the conventional composite deck-plate slab method, w.w.f is generally used for crack control by drying shrinkage. But previous research results by various researchers were pointed out it is not effective to control the shrinkage and temperature cracking. In this study, the long-term cracking and structural behavior of steel fiber reinforced deck plate slab specimen with two continuous spans constructed under typical load conditions were evaluated. Experimental results showed that the number and width of long-term cracks decreased remarkably in the simplified slab specimen, and the deflection was also decreased compared with conventional RC slab specimen. However, in the continuous end of the slab where the negative moment is applied, it is analyzed that reinforced details are necessary to control the crack width in the service load and to recover deflection at load removal.

In this study, the flexural behavior of the RC Arch Deck under static loading was evaluated. Flexural test was carried out using an actual size RC Arch Deck with a length of 2.5 m, a center thickness of 100 mm and an end thickness of 160 mm. The test results showed that it's ultimate load was 1.74 times higher than the ultimate design load. On the other hand, it showed that the flexural behavior has different behaviors (i.e. different stiffness). This type of structural behavior indicates that it has inter-dependency between the deck and the supporting girder. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm the precise behavior by the static loading test of the RC Arch Deck, excluding the girder effect in the future study. The overall results showed that RC Arch Deck has excellent structural performance due to the structural advantages of the arch shape. In the future, the RC Arch Deck can be applied as a long span slab.

Cold-formed deck sections are used in many composite floor slab applications wherein the steel deck serves not only as the form for the concrete during construction but also as the principal tensile reinforcement for the bottom fiber of the composite slab. This paper provides the results of an experimental study performed for the composite slabs with the new shaped deck plates with the locking ribs, the dove tails, and the powerful embossment, which are the mechanical means to improve positive interlocking effect between the deck and the concrete. A total of 28 specimens are tested to investigate the composite effects between the concrete and metal deck plate. Important parameters in this are the span length, the thickness of the deck plate, support condition, and whether shear studs are placed at each support or not. The test results are summarized for the maximum load and failure behavior for the specimens.
The minimum thickness of long-span deck slab is proposed by checking the limit state according to the Korean highway bridge design code(limit state design). Both minimizing thickness and ensuring safety of deck slab are important design factors to increase a competitive price of the long span deck slabs. The required thicknesses for satisfying flexural capacity, preventing punching shear failure and limiting deflection were calculated by considering KL-510 load model which has increased total load compared to DB 24 from 432 kN to 510 kN. The results of the required thickness for various limit states were compared to propose the minimum thickness as a function of span length of deck slabs. The proposed minimum thickness is influenced by satisfying flexural capacity and limiting deflection. It turns out to be similar compared to the results of the previous study by ultimate strength design method even if the live load model was increased in total weights.

The natural frequency of a system is commonly used in evaluating the serviceability condition of a floor. However. the current equations recommended in many building codes do not consider the various material types of a slab system; thus. different results are observed. Likewise. the transformation of a slab section required to predict the natural frequency of a composite deck plate is complicated. due to the varying shapes of the deck plates. Therefore. a new and simplified method of transforming a composite slab into an equivalent concrete slab is proposed. he modified vibration prediction equation was proposed based on the current vibration prediction equation recommended by LRFD. Compared to other equations. it is the closest to those obtained from experiments. The modified equation provides about 14.3% more accurate results than that recommended by LRFD. Likewise. the applicability of the proposed equation to other types of composite deck plate floor system was validated.

As the requirement of high-rise buildings in big cities increases, steel structural system becomes more popular in spite of the relatively higher material cost compared to that of the concrete structural system. Most of the steel structure adopts metal deck floor system because of the easiness in construction. However, the metal deck floor system has a weakness on vibration which became very important factor in office buildings, hotels and residential buildings as the more sensitive machines being used. Therefore, most, of the building codes in many countries restrict the natural frequency of the each floor should be higher than or equal to 15 Hz. Floor vibration of the KEM deck composite floor system which has been , developed recently from the engineers and scientists in Korea was measured. Also, the simplified analytical derivation of natural frequency for each floor was studied according to the measured natural frequency for each different boundary condition of the floor. As the length of the slab gets bigger, the natural frequency of the slab becomes lower even though the structural designer still considers it as a one-way slab.

This study investigates the field application of surface insulation curing method, which combined double layer bubble sheet(DBS) and thick-curing-material(TCM) for cold weather concreting. According to the test, deck slab, curing only upper section with DBS and TCM, does not make big different temperature history with that, curing both upper and bottom section during daily average temperature 6.5t. It is concluded that combination of DBS and TCM in only upper section can be safely cured in early period of time during cold water concreting. The field test was carried out with this favourable data. The upper deck slab was insulated by combination of DBS and TCM, and the construction was surrounded by tent. in order to protect from outside wind. The test result shows that the lowest temperature of deck slab indicated 6$ ^{circ}C $. It demonstrated that this curing method can resist early frost and save construction cost in the side of management and saving labor cost, compared with previous method. In addition, the column specimen, combined both form and bubble board, exhibited favorable temperature history, due to internal hydration heat insulation effect.
Headed studs welded to steel beams and embedded within the concrete of deck slabs are vital components of modern composite floor systems, where safety and economy depend on the accurate predictions of the stud shear resistance. The multitude of existing deck profiles and the complex behavior of studs in deck slab ribs makes developing accurate and reliable mechanical or empirical design models challenging. The paper addresses this issue by presenting a machine learning (ML) model developed from the natural gradient boosting (NGBoost) algorithm capable of producing probabilistic predictions and a database of 464 push-out tests, which is considerably larger than the databases used for developing existing design models. The proposed model outperforms models based on other ML algorithms and existing descriptive equations, including those in EC4 and AISC 360, while offering probabilistic predictions unavailable from other models and producing higher shear resistances for many cases. The present study also showed that the stud shear resistance is insensitive to the concrete elastic modulus, stud welding type, location of slab reinforcement, and other parameters considered important by existing models. The NGBoost model was interpreted by evaluating the feature importance and dependence determined with the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) method. The model was calibrated via reliability analyses in accordance with the Eurocodes to ensure that its predictions meet the required reliability level and facilitate its use in design. An interactive open-source web application was created and deployed to the cloud to allow for convenient and rapid stud shear resistance predictions with the developed model.

Inchon International Airport Elevated Road Way is located between the Passenger Terminal Building and Transportaion Center which are Inchon International Airport core construction projects. The deck of the bridge is consists of 5-span or 6-span continuous pre-stressed concrete slab. Steel form has been used to enhance the quality of texture on concrete slab. Steel form has been used to enhance the quality of texture on concrete surface, lower surface of deck slab with the two way arch has been manufactured by highly professional manner in order to get an beautiful exterior architectural looks. The prestressed concrete deck slab is mass concrete structures with a high-specified concrete strength and a varying section in the range of 0.95-2.8m thickness. Therefore high risks of thermal cracking occurrence by heat of hydration highly are expected. To resolve such problem, we adopted type 1 cement and pipe cooking method at construction site through mass concrete specimen test and 3-dimensional analysis. For Pipe cooling we used 25mm diameter stainless pipes with wrinkles. Cooling pipe with spacing 50-60cm has been installed. And continuous pipe cooling with cooling water of 15$^{\circ}C$ was conducted for 2days. In present 8 span of all 29 spans construction has been completed. No thermal cracking heat hydration has been observed yet.
