A mixture of multivariate canonical fundamental skew t-distribution (CFUST) has been of interest in various fields. In particular, interest in the unsupervised learning society is noteworthy. However, fitting the model via EM algorithm suffers from significant processing time. The main cause is due to the calculation of many multivariate t-cdfs (cumulative distribution functions) in E-step. In this article, we provide an approximate, but fast calculation method for the in univariate fashion, which is the product of successively conditional univariate t-cdfs with Taylor's first order approximation. By replacing all multivariate t-cdfs in E-step with the proposed approximate versions, we obtain the admissible results of fitting the model, where it gives 85% reduction time for the 5 dimensional skewness case of the Australian Institution Sport data set. For this approach, discussions about rough properties, advantages and limits are also presented.

The G-Euler process has been proposed to overcome the difficulties of the calculation of the exponential function of the Jacobian. It is an explicit method that uses the exponential function of the scalar skew-symmetric matrix. We define the moving shapes of true solutions and the moving shapes of numerical solutions. It is discussed whether the moving shape of the numerical solution matches the moving shape of the true solution. The match rates of these two kinds of moving shapes are sequentially calculated by the G-Euler process without using the true solution. It is shown that the closer the minimum match rate is to 100%, the more closely the numerical solutions follow the true solutions to the end. The minimum match rate indicates the reliability of the numerical solution calculated by the G-Euler process. The graphs of the Lorenz system in Perko [1] are different from those drawn by the G-Euler process. By the way, there is no basis for claiming that the Perko's graphs are reliable.
This paper presents a newly suggested calculation method in which an arbitrary quadrilateral element with curved sides is transformed to a normal rectangular one by mapping of coordinates, then the two-dimensional spline is adopted to approach the displacement function of this element. Finally the solution can be obtained by the least-energy principle. Thereby, the application field of Spline Finite Element Method will be extended.

Structural analysis for materials containing regularly spaced in-homogeneities is usually executed by using averaged material properties. For the homogenization process, a unit cell is defined and loaded somehow, and its response is investigated to evaluate the properties. The imposed loading conditions should accord to the behavior of unit cell immersed in the macroscopic structure in order to guarantee the accuracy of the effective properties. Each unit cell shows periodic variation of strain if the material is loaded uniformly, and in this study, direct implementation of this characteristic behavior is attempted on FE models of unit cell. Conventional finite element analysis tool can be used without any modification, and the boundary of unit cell is constrained in a way that the periodicity is satisfied. The proposed method is applicable to skew arrayed in-homogeneity problems. The flexibility matrix relating tonsorial stress and strain components in skewed rectilinear coordinate system is transformed so that the required engineering constants can be evaluated. Effective properties are computed for the materials with square and skew arrayed circular holes, and its accuracy is examined.

Rotating machines are using gears to change the rotary motion into the linear motion, on the other hand, linear motors have a accurate position control and excellent dynamic characteristics because of generating a thrust force directly. But the important problem, one of the linear motor is a high thrust force ripple. Thrust force ripple has a bad effect on the position accuracy and the dynamic characteristics, so it is necessary to reduce the thrust force ripple. Cogging is one of the cause that affect thrust force ripple. Cogging has some connection with the GCD between pole pitch and teeth pitch It is proposed method to reduce a thrust ripple of the linear motor that chamfering, skew, and so on. In this paper, the module phase set shift(MPSS) is used to reduce a thrust force ripple that has a similar effect to skew. And propose a method that reduce a thrust force ripple more by use of chamfering.
In this paper, using consistent couple stress theory and Hamilton's principle, the free vibration analysis of Euler-Bernoulli nano-beams made of bi-directional functionally graded materials (BDFGMs) with small scale effects are investigated. To the best of the researchers' knowledge, in the literature, there is no study carried out into consistent couple-stress theory for free vibration analysis of BDFGM nanostructures with arbitrary functions. In addition, in order to obtain small scale effects, the consistent couple-stress theory is also applied. These models can degenerate into the classical models if the material length scale parameter is taken to be zero. In this theory, the couple-tensor is skew-symmetric by adopting the skew-symmetric part of the rotation gradients as the curvature tensor. The material properties except Poisson's ratio are assumed to be graded in both axial and thickness directions, which it can vary according to an arbitrary function. The governing equations are obtained using the concept of Hamilton principle. Generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to solve the governing equations for various boundary conditions to obtain the natural frequencies of BDFG nano-beam. At the end, some numerical results are presented to study the effects of material length scale parameter, and inhomogeneity constant on natural frequency.

This paper introduces a method that can get information for the movement of a spreader and skew in order to drive ALS(Automatic Landing System) in the crane used at the harbor. Some methods that use 3D laser scanner sensor or laser range finder to obtain the information in ALS are used presently. But these have some defects respectively in economical efficiency and performance. Therefore, to recover these defects, we propose a method acquiring the information for the movement of a spreader and skew using CCD camera for image processing and laser range finder

The well-conditioned observer design method is extended for two-output systems where observer gains are not determined uniquely with respect to the desired observer poles. Similar to the previous results, this design method makes off-diagonal elements of the observer upper-left submatrix skew-symmetric and simulataneously, places the eigenvalues of the observer matrix widely separated by selecting upper two rows of the observer gain. The proposed design method is evaluated in a spindle-drive example where the load speed is estimated based on motor speed and the armature current.
In the present study, the discrete singular convolution (DSC) method is developed for buckling analysis of columns and thin plates having different geometries. Regularized Shannon's delta (RSD) kernel is selected as singular convolution to illustrate the present algorithm. In the proposed approach, the derivatives in both the governing equations and the boundary conditions are discretized by the method of DSC. The results obtained by DSC method were compared with those obtained by the other numerical and analytical methods.

MLS (Mobile Laser Scanning) which is a scanning method done by moving the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is widely employed to capture indoor PCD (Point Cloud Data) for floor plan generation in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. The movement and rotation of LiDAR in the scanning phase cause deformation (i.e. skew) of PCD and impose a significant impact on quality of output. Thus, a de-skewing method is required to increase the accuracy of geometric representation. De-skewing methods which use position and pose information of LiDAR collected by IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) have been mainly developed to refine the PCD. However, the existing methods have limitations on de-skewing PCD without IMU. In this study, a novel algorithm for de-skewing 2D PCD captured from MLS without IMU is presented. The algorithm de-skews PCD using scan matching between points captured from adjacent scan positions. Based on the comparison of the deskewed floor plan with the benchmark derived from TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanning), the performance of proposed algorithm is verified by reducing the average mismatched area 49.82%. The result of this study shows that the accurate floor plan is generated by the de-skewing algorithm without IMU.
