  • Recently, due to the increasing concern of environmental factors and low carbon usage, the use of natural gas has been inclining steadily. In order to meet the growing demand of natural gas, government have established strategies to secure the sufficient amount of gas that is mainly used by industries, power generation and residential use by constructing additional receiving terminals for Liquid Natural Gas (LNG). In the process of selecting the optimal site for the terminals, the characteristics of the terminals are not considered where the decision making is done through internal meetings or outsourcing. In respect to site selection, researches are done to derive the factors that are considered for optimal site selection. However, there have not yet been researches in creating a systematic model for analyzing the optimal site selection. To this aim, the paper aims to propose a model for site selection of LNG receiving terminals that considers the characteristics of the terminal construction. Total of 47 factors considered in site selection is derived through interviews with experts and analyzing the previous cases of site selection by various firms. Furthermore, the derived 47 factors are used for the survey for the previous LNG terminals in PT, IC, TY, SC and BR areas where the survey data is analyzed by factor analysis and multiple regression models to depict the optimal site. By applying the model for site selection, practitioners are able to make decisions for site selection in a systematic approach for new candidates of sites.

  • In this study, TBM selection methods to meet soil and site conditions were presented. Factors and excavation equipment affecting TBM selection by soil and environmental condition were selected and classified. Weights between equipment and influencing factors selected were calculated by applying the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method. The results of the analysis influence factors, Ground condition was a major factor in objective factors and strength was a major factor in the hard condition of criteria factors and water pressure was a major factor in the soft ground condition of criteria factors. In Environment condition, existence of adjacent structures was evaluated more important than existence of feasible site. Lastly, Adequacy was verified through the deduction of results that coincide with input equipment by applying derived weights to actual site conditions.

  • The proposed site selection for transmission system construction is applied by KEPCO's regulation of the site selection criteria and it is confirmed through the deliberation of site selection committee and talking with local authority, by means of study on Present status and site survey, to verify impediment of national land use and development plan. Therefore, it is true that KEPCO has difficulty in timely completion of power facility construction because of civil appeals due to insufficiently evaluate resistance factor of stakeholder and stubborn resistance of inhabitants. This paper describes the PEES(power effect estimation system) which contributed to timely completion of transmission system construction to solve the above difficulty by utilizing IT(Information Technology) such as GIS(Geographic Information System) and LiDAR for the proposed site section. PIES evaluates project impacts on commencement of construction and finds out counter measures then makes public construction information after prediction and analysis of stakeholder's resistance factor.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an objective and rational methodology for the selection of proposed sites far the National Trust(NT), which is the new alterative proposal far the conservation of natural environments destroyed by injudicious land development and economic growth. That is to enforce many analysis for the effective estimation of rare ecological and landscape resources and to propose a model based on estimation and united indicators. Using the estimative model, we apply it to the selection of the proposed site in micro scale and simultaneously offer the basic methodology of effective and systematic land conservation in macro scale. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The results of analysis for the reliability of estimative items and indicators, presented no problem in that the coefficient of reliability was over 0.7. 2) The correlation measure of the estimative indicator indicated that 'succession'and 'regenerating restorability' were highly correlative in the item of plants. Another three items showed a tendency to be alike. 3) The results of factor analysis on the characteristics of indicators, classified plants into four categories including a stable factor. The item of animals was classified as a stable and rare factor. The item of landscape was classified as a physical and mental factor and the environment as a pollutional and conditional factor. 4) The model of estimation created through factor analysis was valid for the approval of the regression model because significant probability was 0.00. When we consider the NT proposed site as a complex body that is composed of diverse natural and manmade resources, certainly the synthetic methodology of estimation is needed. If these studies are carried out, NT sites will be selected more rationally and effectively than at present. Consequently, they have the potential to play a core role of natural ecosystem conservation in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to select appropriate location factors for wind power plant, provide detailed classification criteria, and find out appropriate sites for installing wind power plant in Gangwondo. In this study, the following 11 factors were extracted for site selection of wind power plant : wind resource, topography (valley angle, distance to the ridge), forest density, land use, preservation area, national park, Baekdu-Daegan, noise, shade, Transmission Line, and approaching roads. Each factor had relatively different level of importance so that AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique was used to calculated the weighted value per factor. For overlay analysis, classification criteria were prepared for each factor and each factor was classified into 3 grades : very appropriate, intermediate, poor. According to overlay analysis, the areas which received the highest grade (grade 5) was only in 0.16% of the total area of Gangwondo and had a tendency to exist along the mountain ridge over 600-meter elevation. Through analyzing the yearly average of wind power density, it was proved that the wind power density of areas with grade 4 or 5 had abundant wind resource over $400W/m^2$.

  • Purpose: In the case of mass disaster, the establishment of temporary medical facilities for the first aid and treatment is required for the stable accommodation of patients caused by the disaster. However, the criteria for decision making related to the deployment of field emergency medical facilities are not specified. So, The purpose of this study is to draw considerable factors needed for the deployment of field emergency medical facilities and to make proposal for site selection process of field emergency medical facilities on the basis of the factor. Methods: This study performs text mining of disaster-related laws, guidelines and documents to derive key factors affecting site selection, also proposes a decision making process and conducts virtual deployment to validate the process. Results: The key factors for the site selection derived as the size of the damage, the size of the DMAT inputs, the location of available place, and distance to the disaster base hospital. As a result of virtual deployment following proposed decision making process, It is confirmed that the site of field emergency medical facilities is changed depending on the type of disaster, even if the scope of the disaster damage was the same. Implications: The deployment of field emergency medical facilities requires a separate criteria for each type of disaster, not uniform, as a future research a quantitative approach of the criteria needs to be performed.

  • In the Past, The selection of individual method of construction was done by head of construction site or an experienced person very frequently. By doing this, The wrong selection of construction method without exact adjudication of construction site situation lead to increasing of cost and extension of construction term. Finally it will effect all over the construction process. Especially, In case of underground construction in the beginning, there are a lot of a variable factor and it also effect on the entire construction process and it need very careful process. The purpose of this study is to present the best suitable methodology for selection of construction method by considering potential risk of construction method and variables together with external condition for underground construction. The purpose of this study Is to select the most suitable construction method by analysing potential conditions(construction site situation and client request in designing ) To do this, We prepared arrangement rule to arrange the conditions for construction method. And thin make checklist of the analyzing construction method. Though above process, To expect the risk of individual construction method using above risk checklist and using Analytic Hierarchy process among Multiple-Criteria Decision making, the professional opinions is to be adapted. By doing this, it can lead and select the most suitable construction method considering the data which get from risk density test.
