  • There are currently about 6000 bacterial species with validly published names, but scientists assume that these may be less than 1% of bacterial species present on the earth. Microbial resource is one of the most important bioresources in bioinderstry and provides us with high economic values. To find missing ones, the studies of metagenome, metabolome, and proteome about microbes have started recently in developed countries. We construct the information system that integrates information on microbial genome resources and manages the information to support efficient research of microbial genome application, and name this system 'Bio-Meta Information System (Bio-MIS)'. Bio-MIS consists of integrated microbial genome resources database, microbial genome resources input system, integrated microbial genome resources search engine, microbial resources on-line distribution system, portal service and management via internet. In the future, we will include public database connection and implement useful bioinformatics software for analyzing microbial genome resources.   • GUMF (Global User Management Framework) that is proposed in this research can be applied to next generation network such as BcN (Broadband convergence Network), it is QoS guaranteed security framework for user that can solve present Internet's security vulnerability. GUMF offers anonymity for user of service and use the user's real-name or ID for management of service and it is technology that can realize secure QoS. GUMF needs management framework, UMS (User Management System), VNC (Virtual Network Controller) etc. UMS consists of root UMS in country dimension and Local UMS in each site dimension. VNC is network security equipment including VPN, QoS and security functions etc., and it achieves the QoSS (Quality of Security Service) and CLS(Communication Level Switching) functions. GUMF can offer safety in bandwidth consumption attacks such as worm propagation and DoS/DDoS, IP spoofing attack, and current most attack such as abusing of private information because it can offer the different QoS guaranteed network according to user's grades. User's grades are divided by 4 levels from Level 0 to Level 3, and user's security service level is decided according to level of the private information. Level 3 users that offer bio-information can receive secure network service that privacy is guaranteed. Therefore, GUMF that is proposed in this research can offer profit model to ISP and NSP, and can be utilized by strategy for secure u-Korea realization.

  • Korean Astronomical Data Center (KADC, http://kadc.kao.re.kr) in Korea Astronomy Observatory (KAO) has constructed an archive of Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO) 1.8m telescope data. The archive is consisted of photometric (1KCCD, 2KCCD) and spectroscopic data of 400GB amount for the period of 1997 to 2002,and the first web service is made of the data from 1997 to 2001. In the search page, primary search criterion of object name or coordinates is used. Users can also refine the search criteria using parameters such as observation date, observer(s), data type, and/or instrument. The data identified from the search can be uploaded to the FTP site for further downloading in FITS format. This archive is the first DB of astronomical data made in Korea.

Analysis on Topic Trends and Topic Modeling of KSHSM Journal Papers using Text Mining (텍스트마이닝을 활용한 보건의료산업학회지의 토픽 모델링 및 토픽트렌드 분석)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze representative topics and topic trends of papers in Korean Society and Health Service Management(KSHSM) Journal. Methods : We collected English abstracts and key words of 516 papers in KSHSM Journal from 2007 to 2017. We utilized Python web scraping programs for collecting the papers from Korea Citation Index web site, and RStudio software for topic analysis based on latent Dirichlet allocation algorithm. Results : 9 topics were decided as the best number of topics by perplexity analysis and the resultant 9 topics for all the papers were extracted using Gibbs sampling method. We could refine 9 topics to 5 topics by deep consideration of meanings of each topics and analysis of intertopic distance map. In topic trends analysis from 2007 to 2017, we could verify 'Health Management' and 'Hospital Service' were two representative topics, and 'Hospital Service' was prevalent topic by 2011, but the ratio of the two topics became to be similar from 2012. Conclusions : We discovered 5 topics were the best number of topics and the topic trends reflected the main issues of KSHSM Journal, such as name revision of the society in 2012.

Internet Governance & Politics of Expertise (인터넷 거버넌스와 전문성의 정치)

  • ICANN has been governing the Domain Name System(DNS) "technically" since 1998. The architecture is called Internet Governance, and it brings about many different discourses; "What does that govern?", "Who delegate its role to ICANN?"," How could the regime ensure fairness?" etc. This article will analyze on Internet Governance by applying the government approach of Foucault, and try to compare two parts, the 'core' and the 'edge' of Internet Governance for method. Whereas the 'core' of it refers the site that be governed by the formal contract directly, the 'edge' as the rest of it means informal friendly relations with ICANN. The 'core' rule was stemmed from technological community such as IAB or IETF historically. They had invented new world and its population to integrate the technical order as protocol and the semiotic order as language, that be based on new government mode. On the other hand, ".KR" domain, one of the 'edges', has been evolved into more heterogeneous system, through contest and conflict between traditional state and Internet Governance. The governed object of ".KR" domain is situated in the crossing of each other the 'protocol user', the 'language-semiotic user' and the' geographical resident'. Here the 'geographical resident' rule was weird for DNS, so that shows the internal lack of Internet Governance. It needs to move to the concept of 'Hangeul(Korean-language) user' rather than the 'geographical resident'.

Computerization for Management of Street Tree Using CAD (CAD를 이용한 가로수 관리 전산화에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to computerize street tree management using a CAD program in order to manage the drawing record of street trees systematically and concurrently. The configuration of this program is composed of Reference Data, Data Inquiry, and Cost Assessment. The Reference Data includes characteristics of trees, monthly managements records, damage by blight and insects and usage of pesticides. The Data Inquiry includes an individual search of the tree index, simple searches and multiple searches. The Cost Assessment includes two main components, the data input with labor cost, manure ocst and pesticide cost and the assesment of management cost for prevention of blight and insects, pruning and fertilization. The results of this study are as follows: 1) When there are practices such as transplanting and removing of street trees it is immediately updated with the various situation. By creating an in progress a tree management system, up to the date information can be given to the manager for decision making. 2) To identify individual tree at the site or in drawing, the street name and numbers were used instead of coordinates. Tree tags are attached to the street trees individually. It can make DB management simple and easy. 3) By doing simple or multiple search with constructed DB, data can be provided quickly. 4) The result of this type of search are useful in the assessment of management cost very useful in regards to items such as the pruning, pesticides scattering and fertilization. 5) By using the AutoCAD software and existing PC without purchasing new equipment, the cost of system implementation can be minimized.

The Hyperthermic Effect of Nitric Oxide in Central Nervous System

  • The precise mechanism of set-point regulation in hypothalamus was not elucidated. Nitric oxide synthases(NOS) were detected in hypothalamus, however, the roles of NO in hypothalamus was not fully studied. So, we tested the effects of NO on body temperature because preoptic-anterior hypothalamus was known as the presumptive primary fever-producing site. NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP, 4 nmol, i.c.v.) elicited marked febrile response, and this febrile response was completely blocked by indomethacin (a cyclooxygenase inhibitor). But, ODQ (selective guanylate cyclase inhibitor, $50\;{\mu}g,$ i.c.v.) did not inhibit fever induced by SNP. The cyclic GMP analogue dibutyryl-cGMP $(100\;{\mu}g,\;i.c.v.)$ induced significant pyreses, which is blocked by indomethacin. $N^G-nitro-L-arginine$ methyl ester (L-NAME, non selective NOS inhibitor) inhibited fever induced by $interleukin-1{\beta}\;(IL-1{\bata},\;10\;ng,\;i.c.v.),$ one of endogenous pyrogens. These results indicate that NO may have an important role, not related to stimulation of soluble guanylate cyclase, in the signal pathway of thermoregulation in hypothalamus.

Unrecorded species of Korean protozoans discovered through the project of 'Discovery of Korean Indigenous Species' II

  • Through the 'Discovery of Korean Indigenous Species' project hosted by the National Institute of Biological Resources (NIBR), new or unrecorded species of various protozoans inhabiting the Korean Peninsula have been discovered. Samples were collected from marine, freshwater, and soil habitats in South Korea and all species were identified and reviewed by experts working on the respective taxonomic group. This study includes 17 unrecorded Korean protozoan species discovered through this project, which belong to four phyla: Amoebozoa Lühe, 1913, Cercozoa Cavalier-Smith, 1998, Euglenozoa Cavalier-Smith, 1981, and Ciliophora Doflein, 1901. Among them, three families (Rhogostomidae Dumack et al., 2017, Parauronematidae Small and Lynn, 1985, and Cyclidiidae Ehrenberg, 1838) and three genera (Rhogostoma Belar, 1921, Parauronema Thompson, 1967, and Cyclidium Müller, 1773) were reported for the first time in Korea. Unlike the previous paper of 2017, this study provides a comprehensive taxonomic account of each species (e.g., species name, collection site, synonyms, specimen vouchers, diagnoses, and figures). Additionally, all the species were assigned Korean names.

Design of Miarigogae-park (미아리고개공원 설계)

  • In 1994, Songbuk-gu Office of Seoul held a design competition for Miarigogae-Park, Miarigogae has a special sense of place. It was a place where bararians had crossed the boundary to this country during the Manchu war of 1636. It was a public cemetery where only Koreans had been buried under the rule of Japanese imperialism. It was a place where national patriots had been kidnapped to the North during the Korean War. It's sorrows have been sung in the name of song-'Danjangeui-Miarigogae'(one of the most popular song in Korea). It's sense of place has been kept in every Korean people's mind in the form on 'non-physical image'. Even though, the site itself was a small space - only 1000㎡, the meaning of park-making was very significant. It meant that it would create a physical 'setting' to express the sense of place which has been existed only in our mind as a form of 'non-physical image'. In the winning scheme proposed by the author, the sense of place of Miarigogae was expressed in the form of 'castle walls' which could be easily come into everyone's mind as an image of war. The scope of work also included a crossing bridge and symbolic features. It was meaningful that a landscape architect won the competition including on those items which were not usually handled in pure landscape architectural offices. The purpose of this paper was to articulate the concept of the winning entry in detail and to describe how the concept actualized in reality.
