Aerodynamic Analysis of an Arbitrary Three-Dimensional Blended Wing Body Aircraft using Panel Method (패널법을 이용한 임의의 3차원 BWB 형상 항공기에 대한 공력해석)

  • A panel method based on potential flow theory is developed for the steady/unsteady aerodynamic analysis of arbitrary three-dimensional Blended Wing Body aircraft. The panel method uses the piecewise constant source and doublet singularities as a solution. This potential based panel method is founded on the Dirichlet boundary condition and coupled with the time-stepping method. The present method uses the time-stepping loop to simulate the unsteady motion of the aircraft. The present method can solve the three-dimensional flow over the complex bodies with less computing time and provide various aerodynamic derivatives to secure the stability of Blended Wing Body aircraft. That will do much for practical applications such as aerodynamic designs and analysis of aircraft configurations and flight simulation.

  • Forward osmotic pressure-free reverse osmosis (Δ𝜋=0 RO) was invented in 2013. The first patent (US 9,950,297 B2) was registered on April 18, 2018. The "Osmotic Pressure of Concentrated Solutions" in JACS (1908) by G.N. Lewis of MIT was used for the estimation. The Chang's RO system differs from conventional RO (C-RO) in that two-chamber system of osmotic pressure equalizer and a low-pressure RO system while C-RO is based on a single chamber. Chang claimed that all aqueous solutions, including salt water, regardless of its osmotic pressure can be separated into water and salt. The second patent (US 10.953.367B2, March 23, 2021) showed that a low-pressure reverse osmosis is possible for 3.0% input at Δ𝜋 of 10 to 12 bar. Singularity ZERO reverse osmosis from his third patent (Korea patent 10-22322755, US-PCT/KR202003595) for a 3.0% NaCl input, 50% more water recovery, use of 1/3 RO membrane area, and 1/5th of theoretical energy. These numbers come from Chang's laboratory experiments and theoretical analysis. Relative residence time (RRT) of feed and OE chambers makes Δ𝜋 to zero or negative by recycling enriched feed flow. The construction cost by S-ZERO was estimated to be around 50~60% of the current RO system.

  • SGBEM(Symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method)-FEM alternating method has been proposed by Nikishkov, Park and Atluri. In the proposed method, arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional crack problems can be solved by alternating between the crack solution in an infinite body and the finite element solution without a crack. In the previous study, the SGBEM-FEM alternating method was extended further in order to solve elastic-plastic crack problems and to obtain elastic-plastic stress fields. For the elastic-plastic analysis the algorithm developed by Nikishkov et al. is used after modification. In the algorithm, the initial stress method is used to obtain elastic-plastic stress and strain fields. In this paper, elastic-plastic J integrals for three-dimensional cracks are obtained using the method. For that purpose, accurate values of displacement gradients and stresses are necessary on an integration path. In order to improve the accuracy of stress near crack surfaces, coordinate transformation and partitioning of integration domain are used. The coordinate transformation produces a transformation Jacobian, which cancels the singularity of the integrand. Using the developed program, simple three-dimensional crack problems are solved and elastic and elastic-plastic J integrals are obtained. The obtained J integrals are compared with the values obtained using a handbook solution. It is noted that J integrals obtained from the alternating method are close to the values from the handbook.

Analysis of hair design formative factors in the women's one length hair style in the Imperial Japanese colonial period (일제 강점기 여성 단발의 헤어디자인 조형적 요소 분석)

  • This study is an attempt to analyze the changes and morphological analysis of the one length hair style of women in the Imperial Japanese colonial period, and the purpose of this study is to analyze the components of hair design such as shape, texture, and color based on the precedent and the book and to make possible various styles of one length hair style cut. From the results of this study, one length hair style showed the outline shape with no step height of cut length, natural hair texture and natural hair color in 1910s to 1920s. In the 1930s, the one length hair style showed a slight cut length step height and a slight discoloration using a diamond shape, a narrow wave of natural texture, hydrogen peroxide or oxygenated water. In the 1940s, one length hair style did not find any singularity to pursue brilliant beauty(美) in terms of form, texture, and color. This study may enable a deep and detailed follow up study on one length hair style, and will be a cornerstone for the development of basic data of hair beauty education and trend of new mode.

  • A Meshfree is a method used to establish algebraic equations of system for the whole problem domain without the use of a predefined mesh for the domain discretization. A point interpolation method is based on combining radial and polynomial basis functions. Involvement of radial basis functions overcomes possible singularity Furthermore, the interpolation function passes through all scattered points in an influence domain and thus shape functions are of delta function property. This makes the implementation of essential boundary conditions much easier than the meshfree methods based on the moving least-squares approximation. This study aims to investigate a stress analysis of structural element between a meshfree method and the finite element method. Examples on cantilever type plate, hollow cylinder and stress concentration problems show that the accuracy and convergence rate of the meshfree methods are high.

Study on the Surface Magnetic Domain Structure of Thin-Gauged 3% Si-Fe Strips using Scanning Electron Microscopy with Polarization Analysis

  • Scanning Electron Microscopy with Polarization Analysis (SEMPA) was used to image the surface magnetic domain structure of the 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick 3% Si-Fe sheet. The thin-gauged 3% Si-Fe strips with magnetic induction ($B_{10}$) from 1.98 to 1.57 Tesla were prepared via conventional metallurgical processes including melting, hot-and cold-rolling, intermediate annealing and final annealing. Using SEMPA, it was observed that the $B_{10}$ (1.98 T) Tesla sample was almost composed of 180$^{\circ}$ stripe domains which are parallel to rolling direction. On the other hand the 3% Si-Fe sheet with $B_{10}$ (1.57 T) Tesla was composed of large 180$^{\circ}$stripe domains that are slanted about 30$^{\circ}$to the rolling direction and complex magnetic domain structures like tree and zigzag pattern. The 180$^{\circ}$stripe domains, which covered a major part of the sample, had (110)<001> Goss texture parallel to the rolling direction. The domain walls between 180$^{\circ}$stripe domains were the conventional Bloch type walls. On the other hand, the 90$^{\circ}$domains, which covered minor part on edge of the sample, were observed in (200) grains. The domain walls between 90$^{\circ}$domains were the Neel type walls. In high magnification, the elliptical singularity at the Neel walls was clearly observed.

Determination of Excitation and Response Measurement Points for an Efficient Modal Testing (효율적 모우드시험을 위한 가진점과 응답측정점의 결정)

  • A method, which uses analytical or numerical modal analysis results, e.g. from finite element analysis, to select desirable response measurement and excitation points for an efficient modal testing is introduced. First, points of master degree of freedom(DOP) are determined so as to statistically minimize errors between responses of a full order model and those estimated from the reduced order model. Such master DOF's are selected as the response measurement points. Then a criterion named 'driving point model constant(DPMC)' related to the magnitudes of resonance peaks of the driving point freqency response functions used to select the point of excitation out of the master DOF's. In this work, the method is demonstrated through applications to modal testing on a one dimensional cantilever beam and an aluminum plate and the results are compared with those by another technique. also, the method is applied to a two dimensional structural component of a passenger car.

Comparative Affordance Analysis of Smart Docents for Exhibits (전시관 스마트 도슨트의 어포던스 비교분석)

  • In this study, the smart docent interface provided at 25 exhibition halls at domestic and foreign were compared and analyzed based on affordance. Heuristic evaluation techniques were adopted, centered on a small number of experienced people, and six research participants were selected based on Jacob Nielsen's guidelines that five to eight people per set of research can achieve sufficient results. As a result of comparative analysis of affordance, smart docent used in the Oriental showed a higher average value than smart docent used in the Western, but a lower value for sensory affordance alone. In addition, the categories were subdivided to derive the affordance values for each country, and a singularity was found that the sensory affordance of smart docents used in the United States represents the highest value compared to other countries. In conclusion, this study was able to compare the four affordances of smart docents used in domestic and foreign exhibition halls while presenting directions for future behavioral improvement, which could provide practical implication for smart docent interface design and exhibition hall service strategies.

Analysis of Sky-View-Factor based Dilution of Precision for Evaluation of GNSS Performance in Land Road Environment (육상교통환경 위성항법 성능 예측을 위한 Sky-View-Factor 기반 Dilution of Precision 분석)

  • The conventional indexes for describing the GNSS positioning performance such as satellite visibility, dilution of precision (DOP) and signal to noise ratio is very useful in open sky, however, they are not useful in the land road environment. In this paper new index is suggested for describing the GNSS positioning performance for the road environment. The new index is called Sky View based DOP (SVDOP). SVDOP is derived referring the Sky-View-Factor (SVF). The usefulness is analyzed by comparing the SVDOP and SVF in land road environment after the singularity points are selected and SVDOP is calculated.

Comparative Analysis of Container for High Performance Computing

  • In this paper, we propose the possibility of using containers in the HPC ecosystem and the criteria for selecting a proper PMI library. Although demand for container has been growing rapidly in the HPC ecosystem, Docker container which is the most widely used has a potential security problem and is not suitable for the HPC. Therefore, several HPC containers have appeared to solve this problem and the chance of performance differences also emerged. For this reason, we measured the performance difference between each HPC container and Docker container through NAS Parallel Benchmark experiment and checked the effect of the type of PMI library. As a result, the HPC container and the Docker container showed almost the same performance as native, or in some cases, rather better performance was observed. In the result of comparison between PMI libraries showed that PMIx was not superior to PMI-2 in all conditions.
