  • 인터넷의 발달로 사용자들은 인터넷에서 필요한 정보를 습득할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 생활에 필요한 여러 가지 활동들을 할 수 있게 되었다. 특히 주목받는 부분은 구매 활동이다. 따라서 수많은 기업들이 사람들의 구매 활동에 관련된 전자상거래에 투자하고 있고, 현재 Amazon.com 등과 같은 세계적인 사이트들이 서비스를 실시하고 있다. 또한, 전자상거래 사이트들은 사용자들의 구매 활동을 도와주기 위해 추천 시스템의 도입을 추진하고 있다. 추천 시스템은 사용자들로부터 얻어진 정보를 학습하여 이용 가능한 상품 중에서 고객이 좋아할 만한 것은 추천해 주는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 추천 시스템에서 사용되는 주요한 방법인 협력적 여과방법에서 초기 rating 행렬의 희소성 문제를 해결하기 위하여 Singular Value decompositon의 적용 방법을 제안하고 있다.

Error Free Butcher Algorithms for Linear Electrical Circuits

  • In this paper, an error-free Butcher algorithm is introduced to study the singular system of a linear electrical circuit for time invariant and time varying cases. The discrete solutions obtained using Runge-Kutta (RK)-Butcher algorithms are compared with the exact solutions of the electrical circuit problem and are found to be very accurate. Stability regions for the single term Walsh series (STWS) method and the RK-Butcher algorithm are presented. Error graphs for inductor currents and capacitor voltages are presented in a graphical form to show the efficiency of the RK-Butcher algorithm. This RK-Butcher algorithm can be easily implemented in a digital computer for any singular system of electrical circuits.

Suppression of IEEE 802.11a Interference in TH-UWB Systems Using Singular Value Decomposition in Wireless Multipath Channels

  • Narrow-band interference (NBI) from the coexisting narrow-band services affects the performance of ultra wideband (UWB) systems considerably due to the high power of these narrow-band signals with respect to the UWB signals. Specifically, IEEE 802.11a systems which operate around 5 GHz and overlap the band of UWB signals may interfere with UWB systems significantly. In this paper, we suggest a novel NBI suppression technique based on singular value decomposition (SVD) algorithm in time hopping UWB (TH-UWB) systems. SVD is used to approximate the interference which then is subtracted from the received signals. The algorithm precision and closed-form bit error rate (BER) expression are derived in the wireless multipath channel. Comparing with the conventional suppression methods such as a notch filter and a RAKE receiver, the proposed method is simple and robust and especially suitable for UWB systems.

  • We provide a semilocal convergence result for approximating a solution of a singular system with constant rank derivatives, using Newton's method in an Euclidean space setting. Our approach uses more precise estimates and a combination of two Lipschitz-type conditions leading to the following advantages over earlier works [13], [16], [17], [29]: tighter bounds on the distances involved, and a more precise information on the location of the solution. Numerical examples are also provided in this study.

Precise Braking Torque Control for Momentum Flywheels Based on a Singular Perturbation Analysis

  • Momentum flywheels are widely applied for the generation of small and precise torque for the attitude control and inertial stabilization of satellites and space stations. Due to its inherited system nonlinearity, the tracking performance of the flywheel torque/speed in dynamic/plug braking operations is limited when a conventional controller is employed. To take advantage of the well-separated two-time-scale quantities of a flywheel driving system, the singular perturbation technique is adopted to improve the torque tracking performance. In addition, the composite control law, which combines slow- and fast- dynamic portions, is derived for flywheel driving systems. Furthermore, a novel control strategy for plug braking dynamics, which considers couplings between the Buck converter and the three-phase inverter load, is designed with easy implementation. Finally, experimental results are presented to demonstrate the correctness of the analysis and the superiority of the proposed methods.

Robust singular perturbation control for 3D path following of underactuated AUVs

  • This paper presents a novel control scheme for the three-dimensional (3D) path following of underactuated Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUVs) subject to unknown internal and external disturbances, in term of the time scale decomposition method. As illustration, two-time scale motions are first artificially forced into the closed-loop control system, by appropriately selecting the control gain of the integrator. Using the singular perturbation theory, the integrator is considered as a fast dynamical control law that designed to shape the space configuration of fast variable. And then the stabilizing controller is designed in the reduced model independently, based on the time scale decomposition method, leading to a relatively simple control law. The stability of the resultant closed-loop system is demonstrated by constructing a composite Lyapunov function. Finally, simulation results are provided to prove the efficacy of the proposed controller for path following of underactuated AUVs under internal and external disturbances.

DWT/RDWT/SVD에 기반한 특이벡터를 사용한 블라인드 워터마킹 방안 (A Blind Watermarking Scheme Using Singular Vector Based On DWT/RDWT/SVD)

  • 우리는 컨텐츠 복제방지를 위하여 기존의 SVD와 DWT/RDWT를 결합한 워터마킹 시스템에 특이벡터를 추가로 사용하는 방안을 제안하였다. 우리는 SVD를 사용하는 워터마킹 시스템에 존재하는 오류긍정문제(false-positive problem)를 극복하기 위하여 기존의 SVD기반 알고리즘과 같이 특이값에 워트마크를 임베딩할 뿐만 아니라, 커버이미지의 첫 번째 좌/우 특이벡터를 워터마크 이미지의 첫번째 좌/우 특이벡터와 교체하였다. 제안 방안은 오류긍정문제 (false-positive problem)가 발생하지 않는 워터마킹 시스템을 구현할 수 있었으며, 기존의 오류긍정문제가 없는 시스템과 비교하여 우수한 충실성과 강인성을 보여 주었을 뿐만 아니라, 오류긍정문제가 발생하는 시스템에 비해서도 크게 성능차이가 나지 않음을 보여 주었다.

  • Besides asymptotic method, the method of orthogonal polynomials has been used to obtain the solution of the Fredholm integral equation. The principal (singular) part of the kerne1 which corresponds to the selected domain of parameter variation is isolated. The unknown and known functions are expanded in a Chebyshev polynomial and an infinite a1gebraic system is obtained.

Systems Thinking Perspective on the Sustainable Growth Strategy of Hedge Funds Market

  • This study explores hedge fund characteristics that affect hedge fund performance, namely, fund size, fund age, and performance fee. Previous studies have examined relationships between hedge fund characteristics and fund performance using singular and static thinking to report inconsistent findings without providing full understanding of the causal relationships among variables. To identify that comprehensive causal relationships between hedge fund characteristics and hedge fund performance, this research applies the system dynamics perspective, which allowed demonstration of the interactions within the overall system beyond the singular causal relationships between hedge fund characteristics and performance found in existing traditional research. This study contributes to existing literature in the following ways. First, it overcomes the limitations of singular research methodologies by looking at the integrated system of hedge fund characteristics and fund performance from a bird's eye view based on their dynamic feedback relationships. Second, policy suggestions in terms of regulation and education are presented as growth strategies for the sustainable development of the Korean hedge fund market.

해부학적 계측점을 이용한 PC-기반3차원 치과수술 시스템 (3-Dimensional Dental Surgery System based on PC using anatomical landmarks)

  • 본 논문에서는 PC기반의 치과 수술 시스템을 설계하였다. 이 시스템은 수술 후의 3차원 영상을 예측할 수 있다. 따라서 환자는 수술 후에 CT를 다시 촬영하지 않아도 되며 방사선에 노출시킬 필용가 없다. 수술 전, 후의 두부(Cephalometry) X-ray 정보와 수술 전의 CT 데이터로부터 수술 후의 환자의 두개골을 예측한다. X-ray 필름과 수술 전의 CT를 해부학적 불변 계측점(anatomical landmarks) 방법을 기반으로 한 특이값 분해(SVD: singular value decomposition) 로 레지스트레이션(registration)을 하였으며, 이를 표면 재구성 영상화 시스템으로 설계하였다. 설계된 시스템의 유용성을 검증하기 위하여 건조 두개골 모델 실험과 실제 임상환자에 대한 임상실험을 시행하였으며 유의수준 0.05에서 유의차가 없는 것으로 나타났다.
