Single phase induction motor is directly used usual source, it can be a source of an appliance such as mechanical fan, refrigerator, washing machine, etc. Especially capacitor-run single phase induction motor is suitable to make more inexpensive and high efficient products because it is more high efficiency, and good to start than other single phase induction motors. Generally, voltage and current of capacitor-run single phase induction motor transfer to the part of positive phase and negative phase based on two motor theory. In this paper, we simulate the torque characteristics to capacitance variation from single phase induction motor's equivalent circuit. Through the test using the real motor, we compare and investigate the maximum torque of run state related with capacitance and the adequacy of the converted model.

In this paper we analyze the influence of source/drain (S/D) extension region design for minimizing short channel effects (SCEs) in 25 nm gate length single and double gate Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) and Germanium-on-Insulator (GOI) MOSFETs. A design methodology, by evaluatingm the ratio of the effective channel length to the natural length for the different devices (single or double gate FETs) and technology (SOI or GOI), is proposed to minimize short channel effects (SCEs). The optimization of non-overlapped gate-source/drain i.e. underlap channel architecture is extremely useful to limit the degradation in SCEs caused by the high permittivity channel materials like Germanium as compared to that exhibited in Silicon based devices. Subthreshold slope and Drain Induced Barrier Lowering results show that steeper S/D gradients along with wider spacer regions are needed to suppress SCEs in GOI single/double gate devices as compared to Silicon based MOSFETs. A design criterion is developed to evaluate the minimum spacer width associated with underlap channel design to limit SCEs in SOI/GOI MOSFETs.
This paper describes a new method to determine the 3D-shape of objects consisting of specular planar surfaces. This method exploits a light source which is made of a diffuse plane with a grid pattern encoded in an M-sequence and uses a single image of the light source reflected by the objects to acquiring orientations and positions of the surfaces of the objects. When grid lines of the light source are reflected by a specular planar surface and perspectively projected on an image plane, a set of lines vanishing at a point are obtained on the image plane. The orientation of the specular planar surface is determined by using the vanishing point, and the position is determined by using the correspondence between lines on the image and lines on the light source, which is obtained by employing a characteristic regularity of the M-sequence. Before the vanishing points are calculated, the lines on the image are classified and correlated with the surfaces of objects by using slopes and positions of the lines and the regularity of the M-sequence. This method requires only a single image.

In case of the conventional DC-AC inverter using two DC-DC converters with unipolar output capacitor voltages, for generating the AC output voltage, the output capacitor voltages of its each DC-DC converter must be higher than the DC input voltage. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a single-phase DC-AC inverter using two embedded Z-source converters with bipolar output capacitor voltages. The proposed inverter is composed of two embedded Z-source converters with common DC source and output AC load. The AC output voltage is obtained by the difference of the output capacitor voltages of each converter. Though the output capacitor voltage of converter is relatively low compared to the conventional method, it can be obtained the same AC output voltage. Moreover, by controlling asymmetrically the output capacitor voltage, the AC output voltage of the proposed system is higher than the DC input voltage. To verify the validity of the proposed system, a DSP(TMS320F28335) based single-phase embedded Z-source DC-AC inverter was made and the PSIM simulation was performed under the condition of the DC source 38V. As controlled symmetrically and asymmetrically the output capacitor voltages of each converter, the proposed inverter could produce the AC output voltage with sinusoidal waveform. Particularly, in case of asymmetric control, a higher AC output voltage was obtained. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed system was measured as 95% and 97% respectively in case of symmetric and asymmetric control.
This paper presents a modified Current Source Parallel Resonant Push-pull Inverter (CSPRPI) for single phase induction heating applications. One of the most important problems associated with current source parallel resonant inverters is achieving ZVS in transient intervals. This paper shows that a CSPRPI with the integral cycle control method has dynamic ZVS. According to this method, it is the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuit that tracks the switching frequency. The advantages of this technique are a higher efficiency, a smaller package size and a low EMI in comparison with similar topologies. Additionally, the proposed modification results in a low THD of the ac-line current. It has been measured as less than %2. To show the validity of the proposed method, a laboratory prototype is implemented with an operating frequency of 80 kHz and an output power of 400 W. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed single phase induction heating system.
We present a new technique for achieving source separation when given only a single charmel recording. The main idea is based on exploiting the inherent time structure of sound sources by learning a priori sets of time-domain basis functions that encode the sources in a statistically efficient manner. We derive a learning algorithm using a maximum likelihood approach given the observed single charmel data and sets of basis functions. For each time point we infer the source parameters and their contribution factors. This inference is possible due to the prior knowledge of the basis functions and the associated coefficient densities. A flexible model for density estimation allows accurate modeling of the observation, and our experimental results exhibit a high level of separation performance for simulated mixtures as well as real environment recordings employing mixtures of two different sources. We show separation results of two music signals as well as the separation of two voice signals.
In the single-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive, the required DC source is generally supplied by the circuit consisting of bridge rectifier and large filter capacitor connected with DC line terminal. Due to the large capacity of the capacitor, the charged time of capacitor is very short from the AC source. Lead to the bridge rectifiers draws pulsating current from the AC source side, which results in reduction of power factor and low system efficiency. Therefore a novel single-phase SRM drive system is presented in this paper, which includes drive circuit realizing reduction of torque ripple and improvement of power factor with a novel switching topology. The proposed drive circuit consists of one switching part and diode, which can separate the output of AC/DC rectifier from the large capacitor and supply power to SRM alternately, in order to realize the torque ripple reduction and power factor improvement through the switching scheme. In addition, the validity of the proposed method is tested by some simulations and experiments.
This paper deals with a single-phase impedance-source dynamic voltage restorer (Impedance-DVR) to mitigate voltage sag/swell for the critical loads. The proposed system is composed of passive filter and impedance-source topology inverter. As an ESS(Energy Storage System) of the proposed system is employed the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC). To calculate and control the compensation voltage, single-phase $^id-^iq$ theory in dq rotating reference frame and PI controller are used. Simulation results under voltage sag and swell are presented to show the performance.
A new family of single-phase Z-source ac-ac converter(SZAC) based on single-phase matrix converter (SPMC) is proposed in this paper. Compared to conventional Z-source ac-ac converter, the proposed SZAC has unique feature: providing a wide range of output ac voltage with buck/boost in-phase (maintaining phase angle) and buck/boost out-of-phase (reversing phase angle) operation. A new commutation strategy is used to eliminate voltage spikes on switches. The operating principle of the proposed SZAC is presented. Analysis and experimental results are also presented.

This paper proposes a novel single-phase ac-ac converter topology based on the Z-source concept. The converter provides buck-boost function and plays the role of frequency changer. Compared to the traditional ac-dc-ac converter, it uses fewer devices, realizes direct ac-ac power conversion, and has a simpler circuit structure, so as to have higher efficiency and better circuit characteristics. Compared to the traditional matrix converter, it provides a wider voltage regulation range. The circuit topology, operating principle, control method and simulation results are given in this paper, and the rationality and feasibility is verified.
