Cost-effective Single Board PDP Sustaining Driver with Dual Resonant Method

  • A new plasma display panel sustaining driver using single side sustaining technique with a dual resonant method is proposed in this paper. Since this circuit enables to keep device voltage stress same as the prior circuit, it can be a low cost circuit compared to a conventional driver. To integrate the sustaining function into one side with a single power source in the driver, a charge pump method is adopted to make negative sustaining voltage and to achieve dual resonant energy recovery on the sustaining modes.

  • 국내에서는 현재 샌드위치패널의 화재성능 평가를 위하여 KS F 2271(건축물의 내장재료 및 구조의 난연성 시험방법)을 사용하고 있다. 그 중 연기 및 연소독성가스에 대한 시험인 가스유해성 시험은, 건축 재료 및 내장재의 연소시 발생하는 가스의 유해성을 마우스의 평균 행동정지시간으로 측정하는 방법으로, 정량적인 방법이 아니므로 마우스의 상태나 시험조건에 따라 시험결과가 달라질 수 있다. ISO 5659-2 연소챔버 시험방법은 광학밀도를 정량적으로 측정할 수 있으며, FTIR을 이용한 유독가스 분석이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 ISO 5659-2 연소챔버 시험방법을 사용하여, 국내에서 일반적으로 사용되는 4종의 샌드위치패널 단열재의 광학밀도를 측정하여 각 시험체와 비교하였다. 또한, 시험체마다 3번의 시험 중 두 번째 시험시 FTIR 분석을 수행하여 HCl, $NO_2$ 등의 정량적 결과를 비교하였다.

하나의 큰 태양전지판에 적합한 전개시험장치 개발 (Development of Deployment Test Equipment Suitable for Single Large Solar Panel)

  • 본 논문에서는 하나의 큰 태양전지판 전개시험을 위해 새로운 전개시험장치를 제안하였다. 지상에서 전개시험을 수행하기 위해서는 궤도에서와 유사한 무중력 환경을 만들기 위해 중력 보상을 고려한 장치를 사용해야 한다. 기존에 주로 사용되는 전개시험장치를 시험하고자 하는 태양전지판 전개에 적용 가능한지 판단하기 위해 간단한 개념설계, 해석 그리고 시험 등을 통해 장단점을 분석하였다. 지상 시험의 문제점인 공기저항 문제를 해결하기 위해 더미 프레임을 제안하였으며 중력축과의 정렬 문제를 해결하기 위해 전개 장치에 자동조심 베어링 및 조절나사를 적용하였다. 그리고 테잎 스프링 힌지축의 변화를 보상하기 위해 반지름 방향 이동을 위한 수평 이동 베어링이 적용되었다. 이로부터 본 논문에서 전개하고자 하는 태양전지판에 특성화된 새로운 전개시험장치를 개발하고 검증함으로써 기존 전개시험장치의 문제점을 해결하였다.

  • We developed an a-Si TFT-LCD panel with integrated gate driver circuit using a standard 5-MASK process. To minimize the effect of the a-Si TFT current and LC's capacitance variation with temperature, we developed a new a-Si TFT circuit structure and minimized coupling capacitance by changing vertical architecture above gate driver circuit. Integration of gate driver circuit on glass substrate enables single chip and 3-side free panel structure in a-Si TFT-LCD of QVGA(240$^{\ast}$320) resolution. And using double ASG structure the dead space of TFT-LCD panel could be further decreased.

Experimental and analytical evaluation of a low-cost seismic retrofitting method for masonry-infilled non-ductile RC frames

  • This study evaluates the effectiveness of a newly developed retrofitting scheme for masonry-infilled non-ductile RC frames experimentally and by numerical simulation. The technique focuses on modifying the load path and yield mechanism of the infilled frame to enhance the ductility. A vertical gap between the column and the infill panel was strategically introduced so that no shear force is directly transferred to the column. Steel brackets and small vertical steel members were then provided to transfer the interactive forces between the RC frame and the masonry panel. Wire meshes and high-strength mortar were provided in areas with high stress concentration and in the panel to further reduce damage. Cyclic load tests on a large-scale specimen of a single-bay, single-story, masonry-infilled RC frame were carried out. Based on those tests, the retrofitting scheme provided significant improvement, especially in terms of ductility enhancement. All retrofitted specimens clearly exhibited much better performances than those stipulated in building standards for masonry-infilled structures. A macro-scale computer model based on a diagonal-strut concept was also developed for predicting the global behavior of the retrofitted masonry-infilled frames. This proposed model was effectively used to evaluate the global responses of the test specimens with acceptable accuracy, especially in terms of strength, stiffness and damage condition.

  • A new high-performance and low cost single switch energy recovery display driver for an AC plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed. Since it is composed of only one auxiliary power switch, two small inductors, and eight diodes compared with the conventional circuit consisting of four auxiliary power switches, two small inductors, eight power diodes, and two external capacitors, it features a much simpler structure and lower cost. Nevertheless, since the rootmean-square (RMS) value of the inductor current is very small, it also has very desirable advantages such as n low conduction loss and high efficiency. Furthermore, there are no serious voltage-drops caused by the large gas-discharge current with the aid of the discharge current compensation, which can also greatly reduce the current flowing through power switches and maintain the panel to light at n lower sustaining voltage. In addition, all main power switches are turned on under the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and thus, the proposed circuit has a improved EMI, increased reliability, and high efficiency. Therefore, the proposed circuit will be well suited to the wall hanging PDP TV. To confirm the validity of the proposed circuit, circuit operations, features,and design considerations are presented and verified experimentally on a 6-inch PDP, 50kHz-switching frequency, and sustaining voltage 141V based prototype.

바람에 기인하는 태양광추적구조물의 안정성 해석 (Stability Analysis on Solar Tracker Due to Wind)

  • A solar power generator is usually installed outdoors and it is exposed to extreme environments such as heavy fall of snow and high speed wind. Therefore, the solar tracker structure should be designed to have sufficient static and dynamic stiffness against such environmental conditions. In this paper, eigenvalue analysis of the solar tracker is carried out by varying the pose of the solar panel and unsteady flow analysis around a single tracker or multi-trackers arranged in a line is performed by varying the parameters such as wind directions, wind speeds and the pose of the solar panel to evaluate whether there exists an instability of resonance due to vortex shedding. Finite element eigenvalue analysis shows that natural frequencies and modes are almost not influenced by the pose of the solar panel and the finite element flow analysis shows that there does not exist periodic vortex shedding due to the flow around single tracker or multiple solar trackers in a line.

  • This paper presents a study of low frequencies volume velocity vibration control of a smart panel in order to reduce sound transmission. A distributed piezoelectric quadratically shaped polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer film is used as a uniform force actuator and an array of 4$\times$4 accelerometer is used as a volume velocity sensor for the implementation of a single-input single-output con rot system. The theoretical and experimental study of sensor-actuator frequency response function sho vs that this sensor-actuator arrangement provides a required strictly positive real frequency response function below about 900Hz. Direct velocity feedback could therefore be implemented with a limited gain which gives reductions of about 15㏈ in vibration level and about 8 ㏈ in acoustic power level at the (1, 1) mode of the smart Panel. It has been also shown that the shaping error of PVDF actuator could limit he stability and performance of the control system.

Viewing angle controllable in-plane switching liquid crystal display using one panel

  • We have proposed a novel viewing angle controllable display of in-plane switching (IPS) mode with single panel. One pixel of this device is divided to two regions, in which main pixel shows image and sub pixel for viewing angle control. In initial state, the liquid crystal of sub pixel is homogeneous aligned on substrate for wide viewing angle mode. On the other hand, after applying voltage, the liquid crystal of sub pixel tilts up for narrow viewing angle mode. The proposed device has advantage for the function for simple manufacturing process and good viewing angle control with single panel.
