This paper presents an automatic Oriental ink-rendering technique that recreates the artistic style of Oriental paintings from a single image. In Oriental paintings are characterized by strokes with various thickness and disordered dispersion. In this study, a stroke drawing method was developed based on the canny edge detector and radial curvature that are suitable for lines with varied thickness even along a single stroke. A dispersion-shading method was likewise developed by applying a set of iterated dual-filtering, and intensity exaggeration methods. The dispersion-shading method is designed to increase the local shade details, to decrease the global shade. Unlike the existing watercolor-rendering and abstraction system the proposed dispersion-shading method achieves disordered shade details rather than simplification.

Researchers have developed virtual reality environments to provide audience with more visually immersive experiences than previously possible. One of the most popular solutions to build the immersive VR space is a multi-projection technique. However, utilization of multiple projectors requires large spaces, expensive cost, and accurate geometry calibration among projectors. This paper presents a novel omnidirectional projection system with a single projector and a single spherical mirror. We newly designed the simple and intuitive calibration system to define the shape of environment and the relative position of mirror/projector. For successful image projection, our optimized omnidirectional image generation step solves image distortion produced by the spherical mirror and a calibration problem produced by unknown parameters such as the shape of environment and the relative position between the mirror and the projector. Additionally, the focus correction is performed to improve the quality of the projection. The experiment results show that our method can generate the optimized image given a normal panoramic image for omnidirectional projection in a rectangular space.

Leakage would happen because of the damage of high temperature and high-pressure valve in nuclear power plant. condition based prevention maintenance is essential by using the suitable method based on local condition. Energy loss prevention can prevent from an accurate test, Local actually and ability. The methods of test for high energy fluid leakage at present are analysis of ${\Delta}$T, AE(Acoustic Emission) analysis, and thermal image. The result for test of AC (Main steam) system in YNG 2 Unit reveals that the AE occurred clearly in leakage situation, but thermal image didn't occur. It is identified that leakage is occurred when the orifice located front and back of valve operates. It shows that making a impatient judgment by using the single method if it is leakage is containing uncertainty. So I think that using the Multi-Measuring method is more sound judgment than Single-Measuring method.

The purpose of this study was to verify the possibility of fuel rod pattern analysis in a fresh fuel assembly using the Yonsei single-photon emission computed tomography (YSECT) system. The YSECT system consisted of three main parts: four trapezoidal-shaped bismuth germanate scintillator-based 64-channel detectors, a semiconductor-based multi-channel data acquisition system, and a rotary stage. In order to assess the performance of the prototype YSECT, tomographic images were obtained for three representative fuel rod patterns in the 6 × 6 array using two representative image-reconstruction algorithms. The fuel-rod patterns were then assessed using an in-house fuel rod pattern analysis algorithm. In the experimental results, the single-directional projection images for those three fuel-rod patterns well discriminated each fuel-rod location, showing a Gaussian-peak-shaped projection for a single 10 mm-diameter fuel rod with 12.1 mm full-width at half maximum. Finally, we successfully verified the possibility of the fuel rod pattern analysis for all three patterns of fresh fuel rods with the tomographic images obtained by the rotational YSECT system.

In this paper, we implemented a dual-resolution image database system for the fast naked-eye retrieval using interpolation. This system can solve two conventional problems : a blocking noise at zoom-out image in single high resolution method and a big storage to store in simple dual-resolution image database system. The proposed method makes a subsampled image by subsampling a original image, and then a interpolated image of it using interpolation. After that, a hybrid dual-resolution image database is composed based on the differential image between the interpolated image and the original image. Experimental results of simulating through 60 sample images shows that the proposed method is 0.011 second faster than simple high-resolution method in the retrieval time - one is 0.003 second, the other is 0.014 second, respectively. Also, that improves 14.7% more than simple dual-resolution method in the stored size - one is 19,821 byte, the other is 16,910 byte, respectively.
This paper describes stereo image compression algorithm using disparity and JPEG. because similar images are images with common features, similiar pixel distributions, and similar edge distributions. Fields such as medical imaging or satellite imaging often need to store large collections of similar images. that is, a conventional stereo system with a single left-right pair needs twice data as a monoscopic imaging system. as a result we need compression method compatible stereo image, in this paper after we use JPEG in basic compression method and stereo matching using adaptiv window, we get disparity information, we restored right image using by restored left image and disparity.
We investigate neural network image reconstruction for magnetic particle imaging. The network performance strongly depends on the convolution effects of the spectrum input data. The larger convolution effect appearing at a relatively smaller nanoparticle size obstructs the network training. The trained single-layer network reveals the weighting matrix consisting of a basis vector in the form of Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind. The weighting matrix corresponds to an inverse system matrix, where an incoherency of basis vectors due to low convolution effects, as well as a nonlinear activation function, plays a key role in retrieving the matrix elements. Test images are well reconstructed through trained networks having an inverse kernel matrix. We also confirm that a multi-layer network with one hidden layer improves the performance. Based on the results, a neural network architecture overcoming the low incoherence of the inverse kernel through the classification property is expected to become a better tool for image reconstruction.

In a multi-resolution image encoding system, the image is encoded into a single file as a layer of bit streams, and then it is transmitted layer by layer progressively to reduce the transmission time across a low bandwidth connection. This encoding scheme is also suitable for multiple decoders, each with different capabilities ranging from a handheld device to a PC. In our previous work, we proposed an edge adaptive hierarchical interpolation algorithm for multi-resolution image coding system. In this paper, we enhanced its compression efficiency by adding three major components. First, its prediction accuracy is improved using context adaptive error modeling as a feedback. Second, the conditional probability of prediction errors is sharpened by removing the sign redundancy among local prediction errors by applying sign flipping. Third, the conditional probability is sharpened further by reducing the number of distinct error symbols using error remapping function. Experimental results on benchmark data sets reveal that the enhanced algorithm achieves a better compression bit rate than our previous algorithm and other algorithms. It is shown that compression bit rate is much better for images that are rich in directional edges and textures. The enhanced algorithm also shows better rate-distortion performance and visual quality at the intermediate stages of progressive image transmission.

In this study, the crack detecting system with digital image processing techniques based on the mathematical morphology method was developed to detect cracks in concrete structures. In the developed system, the image combining technique of reconstructing multiple images as an entire single image considering efficient management of analysis results was applied as an additional module. The developed system was verified through a field test with the cracked concrete culvert and the crack width of 0.2 mm was able to be detected in the 40m span. In the image analysis, the difference between calculated crack width and actual crack width were less than 0.08mm. For image combination in the stitching test of pattern images, the stitched image was identical with the original picture of entire subject in the visual perception level.
In this paper, we have developed page level input system of the character reading aid for the blind. Input toys)ems arse consisted with 512 pixels line image sensor, optical lento, digital interface for the computer and its control software. Input buffer size of the computer memory that for the single scanning of printed matters Image is 64kB. Image patterns of the reading characters which stored in system memory are converted to tactile character patterns that would be output to the bimorph tactile sensor by software control.
