  • A research project was conducted to assess the levels of noise exposed to "Noraebang" users and potential hazards to noise-induced hearing loss due to commercial Noraebang noise. A two-way, mixed-factors factorial design was employed for the experiment using independent variables of "noise source" (no- singer, 1-singer, and 2-singer conditions) and "music type" (Trot, Ballad, and Rock music) with 18 normal hearing subjects. Each singer group sang 5 popular songs of each music type in each signing condition, whereas background music was just played for the no-singer condition. For each music played/sung, equivalent continuous sound pressure levels and maximum sound pressure levels were measured for data analysis purposes. Pure-tone audiometry was applied for measuring subjects' hearing threshold levels before and after exposure to Noraebgang noise. The statistical analyses indicate that average continuous noise levels due to Noraebang leisure environment were very serious, especially when two people were singing (higher than 95 dBA). Furthermore, maximum noise levels often exceeded the OSHA's non-premissible 115 dBA level. Worse yet, hearing loss assessment implies that Noraebang facilities may pose a serious threat to noise-induced hearing loss, based on 6-8 dB loss at 125 Hz and 8 dB loss at 4000 Hz after about 1-hour Noraebang noise exposure.

  • A usual approach of lyric poetry education emphasizes musicality of prosody that takes the format of singing lyric poem or reciting that involves reading with one's eyes and contemplating through one's consciousness, both with are quite remote from reality. In order to achieve an effective education, traditional lyric poetry education should focus on the recitation format that involves natural respiration. The current study specified theoretically the A study of contents in traditional Korean lyric poetry recitation. recitation. method through understanding rhythm and prosody that are basic principles of recitation. The study also attempted creating contents through three-dimentional image built on a theoretical foundation of systemic poetry recitation method in order to amplify the impression and creation of the traditional Korean lyric poetry. This was done as an effort to manifest an aesthetic nature of traditional lyric poetry and also as an effort to advance one more step in public understanding and appreciation of traditional poetry.

  • As the scale factor of model propellers utilized in cavitation test is about 40, it is difficult to find out practical countermeasures against the small area erosions on the blade tip region throughout model erosion tests. In this study, a partial propeller blade model was used for the observation of cavitation pattern for the eroded propeller. A partial propeller blade model was manufactured from 0.7R to tip with expanded profile and with adjustable device of angle of attack. Reynold's number of a partial propeller blade model is 7 times larger than that of a model propeller. Also, anti-singing edge and application of countermeasures to partial propeller blade model which produced in large scale can be more practical than a model propeller. For the observation of cavitation at high Reynold's number, high speed cavitation tunnel was used. To find out the most severe erosive blade position during a revolution, cavitation observation tests were carried out at 5 blade angle positions.

  • The processes of informatization of the modern educational space are inextricably linked with the active introduction of innovative information technologies, which diversify the forms of education and upbringing. The use of these technologies in education due to their specific properties significantly enhances the clarity of learning, emotional impact on students, helps to deepen interdisciplinary links, intensifies students' work, and improves the organization of educational activities. Innovative information technologies offer new opportunities for the use of text, audio, graphic, and video information in lessons, enriching the methodological possibilities of the lesson. Today, the use of these technologies is becoming an integral part of the study of any subject. Using multimedia presentations, publications, and websites created by students in the learning process, they can develop learning skills. According to researchers, there are many multimedia programs for working with a computer in a music lesson, namely: a music player, a program for singing karaoke, a music constructor, music encyclopedias, and training programs. The introduction of innovative information technologies in the system of music education allows expanding learning opportunities.

  • The aim of this paper is to research phonological and morphological features in Korean Voices from Berlin. The Korean Voices from Berlin was recorded in 1917 at Berlin by 5 Korean prisoners engaged in World War I, some of them came from North Hamgyeong Province, the others came from Pyeongan Province, therefore these data show a North Korean regional dialect. The data are composed of three materials, counting numbers, reciting scriptures and singing folksongs. The results of this research are as follows. 1) The consonant system of Korean voices is similar to standard Korean. The 19 consonants are classified according to 5 manners of articulations and 5 points of articulations. 2) The liquid /l/ has three allophones, [ɾ] appeared in an onset position, [l] in a word medial coda position or preceded by [l], [ɹ] in a word final coda position. 3) The vowel system of Korean voices is similar to early 20th Korean's. It has 8 monophthongs, /a, ʌ, o, u, ɯ, i, e, ${\varepsilon}$/. 4) The 1 to 10 numbers in Korean voices are similar to Middle-Korean numerals. 5) The genitive particle '/ɯi/의' is pronounced [i], [ɯ], [${\varepsilon}$], especially [ɯ] is appeared in Sino Korean. 6) The /l/-deletion of conjugations are similar to Middle-Korean, /l/ deletion always occurred, if [+cor] consonants are followed.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure of Koreans in Arirang songs. Arirang is a representative song that strengthens the collective identity and social bond of Koreans. For Koreans who mainly eat rice, Arirang represents rice, life, and reason for its existence. Koreans have been singing Arirang together for a long time, overcoming pain, sadness, and hardships and consoling their minds and bodies. Arirang is a national music that is loved more and sung more often than the national anthem. The hill on the mountain is not a place to stay. The pass is a passing place. This gives us a lot of thought. We have various difficulties living in the world. The word Arirang means that Arirang is not one state. The end of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure is surely a joy. Arirang Pass (Arirang Gogae) is not a staying pass, but a crossing pass. Arirang, which contains joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure, is a soul song and a consolation medicine for mental and physical health. We suggest that Arirang song compared to standard care may have beneficial effects on anxiety, hope, pain, and depression in patients.

  • Public Performance in Copyright Law is a wider concept, which people generally think. It includes the presentation of a work to the public by acting, musical playing, singing, narrating as well as even the act of mechanical playing phonogram and cinematographic work. Article 29 in Korean Copyright Act is the restriction of an author's public performance right. It shall be permissible to perform publicly or broadcast a work already made public for nonprofit purposes and without charging any fees to audience, spectators, or third parties, provided that the performers concerned are not paid any remuneration for such performances. Commercial phonograms or cinematographic works may be played back for the public, if no fee is charged to the audience or spectators, except in cases as set forth by Presidential Decree. In recent year, public performance in libraries became a major issue of the Copyright Law. It is a claim that watching cinematographic works in libraries is one of the act that should apply public performance right, thus to use commercial cinematographic works before six months, which was published, need permission to copyright owners. But this claim is unfair because it can make impossible normal library service. Thus there is a need to revise the Copyright Law to understand the difference between act of viewing and public performance in libraries.

  • The in-country interest in vocalists is worthy of notice. However, the public, including experts, don't have sufficient information for their interest. In this situation, the popularity of Seth Riggs' books is surprising, because his major is vocal music, not popular music, although he is known as 'a great vocal trainer'. Therefore, we should analyze his vocalization methods and compare them with Bel Canto. His skills are (focused on) SLS (Speech-level singing). The unique styles he used are related to Bel Canto in vocal music, but with some differences. Nevertheless, both styles have something in common. For example, they are similar in that they continue to keep up with the times, so as to improve and evolve. Therefore, it is important for the selected passages to be investigated and presented, based on the individual body conditions and properties. Seth Riggs' vocalization method should be systematically examined too. This is because it has great influence on the public.
