Interference of Acoustic Signals Due to Internal Waves in Shallow Water

  • To investigate internal waves (IW) effect on acoustic wave propagation, m analysis is conducted on mode travel time and model simulation. Based on the thermistor string data, it can be shown that the thermocline depth variation may cause travel time difference as much as 4-10 ms between mode 1 and 2 over range 10 km. This travel time difference causes interference among modes and thus fluctuation from range-independent stratified ocean structure. In real situations, however, there exist additionally spatial variation of IW. Model simulation with all modes and simple IW shows clear responses of acoustic signals to IW, amplitude and phase fluctuation.

  • This paper is intended to research the speed response of switched reluctance motor (SRM) using sliding mode control method when load is changing. The simulation compare only control by PI controller with control by PI controller and sliding mode controller. It compare with speed response using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

  • In this paper, the nonlinear model of axial electro-magnetic suspension(EMS) system is presented. The characteristic of attracyion force is analyzed by FEM. Some simulation is given to compare the sliding mode control based on the input-output linearization with the classical linear control using Taylor approximation. Real result of regulating control, transient response comparison, and robustness control with disturbance using the sliding mode method is presented.

  • This paper presents a discrete-time sliding mode control method for linear time-invariant systems with matched uncertainties. In this paper, we suggest a method of adding a command generator using input shaping filter to a discrete-time sliding mode controller. We design the number of steps required to reach the sliding layer and the magnitude of a control input, respectively using the shaping filter. Therefore we can minimize the excitation of the resonance mode and increase the tracking performance of a system. Simulation results are included to show its effectiveness.

  • Nonlinear pulse width modulation (PWM) controlled system is considered to achieve control performance of thruster controlled spacecraft. The actual PWM controlled motions occur, very closely, around the average model trajectory. Furthermore nonlinear PWM controller design can be directly applied to thruster controlled spacecraft to determine thruster on-time. Sliding mode control for attitude tracking of three-axis thruster-controlled spacecraft is presented. Simulation results are shown which use modified Rodrigues parameters and sliding mode control law to achieve attitude tracking of a three-axis spacecraft with thrusters.

  • By noticing that most waveguide devices were connected to power source through coaxial line, three dimentional finite element analysis using TEM mode incident was tried. When tEM mode was used, being dissimilar to TE$_{10}$ mode incident, analysis model of TEM mode incident has almost the same geometry with real products. Therefore, the degree of trust about analysis result is improved. Reflection coefficients of coaxial line, W/G adaptor, magnetron obtained by simulation was compared with experimental results.

  • In this paper, we present a model reference sliding mode control for the system with input/output disturbance. The proposed model reference sliding mode control makes always the error remain on the surface in finite time. Therefore the system is insensitive to external disturbance. Simulation results are included to illustrate the effectiveness of proposed scheme.

  • This paper introduces a new design approach for robust sliding-mode control of a class of mismatched uncertainties. For this, we propose a design method of sliding-mode surface using eigenstructure assignment to be insensitive to perturbation in sliding-mode systems, and also find a formula which is shown bounds of mismatched uncertainties for stability of the system. Simulation results are given to illustrate the approach proposed in this paper.

  • Broadband network based on the Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) concept are becoming the target technology for the emerging Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network(B-ISDN). Since B-ISDN is very complex and requites a great amount of investment, optimum design and performance analysis of such systems are very important. Simulation can be widely used to analyze and examine the broadband network behavior. However, for the complicated system like broadband networks it is extremely difficult and time-consuming to develop a complete model for simulation. In this paper, an object-oriented modeling approach for the broadband network simulation is presented for the effective and efficient modeling. Object-oriented approaches can provide a good structuring capability for complicated simulation models and facilitate the development of reusable and extensible simulation models. We have developed an object-oriented model which consists of object model and behavior model. In the object mode., the components of the broadband network and both constant bit rate(CBR) and variable bit rate(VBR) traffic types of call level, burst level, and cell level are modeled as object classes. In the behavior model, the dynamic features for each object class are represented using the state transition diagram. It has been shown by illustration that objectoriented modeling is an effective tool for modeling the complicated B-ISDN.

  • The aim of this study was to develop and test a model of an auto-sensing hydraulic breaker that can automatically change its 4-step impact mode according to the rock strength using SimulationX. The auto-sensing hydraulic breaker with a 4-step variable impact mode has the advantage of obtaining optimal impact energy and impact frequency under various rock conditions compared to an auto-sensing hydraulic breaker with a 2-step variable impact mode, which has already been developed overseas. Several steps were necessary to conduct this study. First, the operation principle of the auto-sensing hydraulic breaker with the 2-step variable impact mode was analyzed. Based on the findings, an analysis model of the auto-sensing hydraulic breaker with the 4-step variable impact mode was developed (and compared with the 2-step variable impact mode) Finally, an analysis of the results established that the stepwise variable of the impact mode was implemented according to the rock strength and the difference of each impact mode was confirmed. This study is expected to contribute to the development of auto-sensing hydraulic breakers that are superior to those developed by advanced companies in foreign countries.
