Vehicle Stop and Go Cruise Control using a Vehicle Trajectory Prediction Method (차량 궤적 예측기법을 이용한 차량 정지/서행 순항 제어)

  • This paper proposes a vehicle trajectory prediction method for application to vehicle-to-vehicle distance control. This method is based on 2-dimensional kinematics and a Kalman filter has been used to estimate acceleration of the object vehicle. The simulation results using the proposed control method show that the relative distance characteristics can be improved via the trajectory prediction method compared to the customary vehicle stop and go cruise control systems which makes the vehicle remain at a safe distance from a preceding vehicle according to the driver's preference, automatically slow down and come to a full stop behind a preceding vehicle.

  • This paper presents vibration minimization of a PMLSM driven feed-slide by using optimized smooth velocity curve with finite jerk. First of all, the PMLSM was designed and made to reduce detent force. Next, a PMLSM driven feed-slide system was mathematically modeled as a 4-degree-of-freedom lumped parameter model. The key idea of our vibration minimization method is to find out the most appropriate smooth velocity(feedrate) curve with finite jerk. The validity of our proposed method has been verified by comparing computer simulation results of the feed-slide model with experimental ones.

  • In this paper the MMAE(Multiple Model Adaptive Estimation) algorithm using the MGEKF(Modified Gain Extended Kalman Filter) of which modes are set to be measurement biases is proposed to enhance the performance of target tracking with bearing only measurements. The state are composed of relative position, relative velocity and taregt acceleration. The mode probability is calculated from the bearing only measurements from the HMS(Hull-Mounted Sonar). The proposed algorithm is tested in a series of computer simulation runs.

  • This paper presents the circuit arrangement and effective control method of regenerative energy storage system for an electric vehicle using super-capacitors as the braking energy storage element. A bi-directional controlled current flow of the DC-DC converters with the capacitor bank is connected in parallel with battery, and is controlled so that the whole of the braking energy is effectively absorbed into the capacitors and released back to the electric motor upon acceleration. The converter needs the series-parallel switching circuit for making the best use of the series capacitors and for limiting the step-up ratio of the boost converter. The proposed methods are verified by computer simulation and experimental set-up. They are usefully applied to the electric vehicles such as green cars, electric motorcycles, bike, etc which are power- supplied by the electric batteries.

  • In this paper, a digital speed regulator system design method is developed for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). Firstly, an accurate approximate discrete-time model is proposed for a PMSM considering its inherent nonlinearities. Based on the discrete-time model, a digital acceleration observer as well as a digital speed regulator is designed. The exponential stability of the augmented control system is analyzed. The proposed digital speed regulator system is implemented by using a TMS320F28335 floating point DSP. Simulation and experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper compared with field weakening operation methods for the spindle motor of machine tool in which high speed drive is required. The maximum torque field weakening algorithm ensures the full utilization of the output torque capability of the machine over 1/Wr method. From simulation, the validity of the Max_Te method is confirmed. It is verified that the Max-Te algorithm provided the improved torque capability over 1/Wr method. So, It is applicable to provide high performance control involving fast acceleration and precise speed control for the adjustable speed drive system of spindle.

  • In this paper, a simulator is designed along with S/W package for crane controllers. Due to trolley's acceleration or deceleration, cranes inherently cause swing motion of the objects in transporting heavy objects. This swing not only deteriorates the crane handling safety but also increases the processing time. To overcome these drawbacks, the fuzzy rule-based simulator is developed with inhibitory swing at final action. The computer simulation shows that the swing at initial and final positions is removed fast with small position error. The proposed simulator can be used for handling object stablely and the study of effectiveness in unmanned operation of cranes.

  • This paper presents a cruise control system design using variable structure control (AVCS) is an important part of the intelligent vehicle and highway systems (IVHS). A vehicle desired acceleration profile has been designed based on the vehicle speed and distance control algorithm. Cruise control system has been designed using VSC theory for which we propose a moving switching surface(MSS). It has been shown that the proposed control system can provide satisfactory performance. Simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of this controller.

  • A linear quarter model of a vehicle suspension system is built and simulated. Especially the so-called sensitivity analysis is conducted in order to show its applicability to design problems, and sensitivity function is determined in the frequency domain. The change of frequency response function is predicted, which depends on the design parameter variation and the property is verified by computer simulation. Typical performance measures, namely, sprung mass acceleration, suspension deflection, and tire deflection are examined. The vehicle model is analyzed for ist performance sensitivity as a function of the system's feedback gains. The variable feedback gains are selected as the spring and damping coefficients. Frequency response, RMS response, and performance index of the performance evaluation variables are considered and three-dimensional and contour plots of response surfaces are formed to examine output sensitivity to suspension feedback. Performance trade-offs over the entire frequency spectrum are identified from the FRF, and that between ride quality and handling characteristics are examined from the RMS responses.

  • In this study, a shifting algorithm of CVT was suggested for the two(2) driving modes : (1) power mode and (2) economy mode. Shifting algorithm must be obtained to make the engine run on the optimum operating line for the desired performance of the vehicle. Optimum operating lines of the engine were obtained by connecting the shortest way of the iso-power lines for the power mode and by connecting the shortest way of the BSFC curves for the economy mode. Also dynamic model of CVT vehicle was derived considering the throttle and the brake operation. By using the shifting algorithm and the CVT vehicle model, numerical simulations were performed to estimate the performance of CVT. Simulation results showed that comparing the performance of the conventional 4-speed automatic transmission, acceleration performance of the CVT vehicle was almost same with the AT vehicle for the power mode and the fuel economy of CVT was 14% superior than that of AT for the economy mode.
