Silica hybrid silver nanoparticles showing the strong antimicrobial activity, in which nano-silver is bound to silica molecules, has been synthesized using ${\gamma}-irradiation$ at room temperature. The present study relates to an antimicrobial composition for coating fiber products comprising silica hybrid silver nanoparticles. In this study, we describe antimicrobial fiber products coated with the silica hybrid silver nanoparticles and a method of antimicrobially treating fiber products by coating the fiber products with the silica hybrid silver nanoparticles. The antimicrobial fiber products exhibited excellent antimicrobial effects. In detailed practice, when the present composition comprising nanosized silica-silver was applied to a cloth (fabric) in a concentration of $6.4mg\;yard^{-1}$, the viable cell number decreased to less than 10 cells before and after laundering, resulting in a reduction of 99.9% or greater in the viable cell number. The present composition displays long-lasting potent disinfecting effects on bacteria. Also, we investigated the toxicity of silica hybrid silver nanoparticles in rats. The skin of rats was treated with a 30 ppm nanoparticles solution ($2ml\;Kg^{-1}$) for 8 days. No toxicity was detected in the treatment. These results suggest that the fiber products coated with the silica hybrid silver nanoparticles can be used to inhibit the growth of various microorganisms.
The Bupyeong Silver mine which is located approximately 35km west of Seoul is currently the leading silver producer in Korea. The deposits occur as stockwork deposits hosted in Jurassic pyroclastic rocks. Occurrences of ore deposits and mineral paragenesis suggest a division of mineralization into four stages: Stage I, deposition of iron oxide and base metal sulfides; Stage II, deposition of tin oxide and silverm inerals; stage III, deposition of native silver and other silver minerals; Stage IV, formation of pyrite bearing siderite veinlets, Silver minerals in ore are native silver, argentite, freibergite, pyrargyrite, canfieldite, polybasite, dyscrasite and Ag-Fe-S mineral. The most important silver mineral is native silver among them. Chemical composition of important silver minerals were determined by electron probe microanalyser. Assay, size and modal analyses for floatation products were carried out. In floatation products, relative proportion of native silver for total important silver minerals have following ranges: feed, 64.7 to 74.74 wt.%; A-cleaner concentrate, 80.58 to 98.79 wt.%; and final tailing, 28.12 to 72. 57 wt. %. Average degree of liberation for native silver in feed and A-cleaner concentrate are 60.49% and 77.57% respectively. Negative relationship can be recognized between native silver and argentite in their abundance and behavior in floatation precesses.
Out of the OECD countries, Korea is showing the fastest growth of elderly population. Taking into account the rate of increase of the elderly and average lifespan, we can deduct that the future society will be an elderly society . Therefore, the market in Korea targeted to this group will quickly increase into a large market. Leading nations already into the elderly society , have actively pursued studies into silver generation product design and compared to these countries, Korea is far behind them. There is an immediate need for a detailed overall study on the design of products used daily by the elderly, This study has based its focused on the elderly society and silver generation products and was accompanied by thorough interview research method through questionnaires. The result showed that the Korean elderly were very aware about silver generation industry. However, they Pointed out that there are many Problems regarding silver generation products. Therefore, a need for a new design reflecting more of the lifestyle of the elderly is required. Also, there is an immediate need for development of more comfortable products and a well-structured system that enables easy access to these products.
The purpose of this study was to develop an understanding of older consumers' lifestyle, and to provide the basic information for developing silver commodities and, in turn, to stimulate the silver industry which has received attention as a next-generation industry. The study divided elderly consumers into four lifestyle categories and analyzed the difference in demographic characteristics among these categories as well as differences in demand for silver products. Data were collected with questionnaire and analyzed with frequency analysis, factor analysis, K-means cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and a $x^2$ test using SPSS 15.0. Four different lifestyles categories were identified among elderly consumers : conservative and stability oriented (22 persons, 33.3% of the sample), progressive and relation oriented (22 persons, 15.0%), reality adapted (52 persons, 35.4%), and traditional (24 persons, 16.4%). The demand for silver products demands was significantly different among elderly consumers in the four different lifestyle groups.

Currently, Korea is on the verge of entering into an ultra-aged society and the associated market size is growing. In this regard, customer-centered design that understands the consumer needs of the new silver generation, which is emerging as a new consumer group, and reflects them in products is the key to the success of the high-value-added fashion industry. Therefore, this study reviewed the changes in physical, biological, social, and psychological characteristics of the new silver generation, through a review of related books and previous studies, and secured the direction for clothing product development for the new silver generation. The literature review was supplemented by group interviews to accurately identify the needs of silver consumers. In addition, the study conducted case analysis through web searches of fashion magazines, newspaper articles, brand web sites, and trend information sites to investigate the market trends of one-mile wear products that have emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the characteristics of one-mile wear brands, and products for new silver women, including size specification analysis and sewing techniques that minimize skin irritation while reflecting the consumer's characteristics. Based on the results of this study, a competitive design and product development were proposed from an economic and industrial perspective that can enhance the product value and maximize the marketing effect by developing consumer-oriented one-mile comfort wear products with aesthetic, practical, functional, and economic values that satisfy the characteristics and needs of new silver women.

We manufactured natural dyed Korean traditional paper (Hanji) for cultural properties conservation and storage with goldthread (Coptis chinensis) and silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$). Goldthread and silver nitrate are known to be an excellent antimicrobial activity. The effect of content of goldthread and silver nitrate on properties of dyed Hanji was investigated. Color strength of dyed Hanji decreased with increasing content of silver nitrate. After-mordanting with 3% silver nitrate improved lightfastness of dyed Hanji. Tannic acid treatment increased K/S value of dyed Hanji. As the amount of the increase in goldthread content was reduced silver nitrate content. Sim-mordanting method was used for simplifying manufacture process. Silver nitrate sim-mordanting method increased K/S value of goldthread than after-mordanting method.
In this research, a study on a shopping web site design for elderly users is performed in order for them to purchase silver products easily. Issues discussed in this study are the menu design in the product-searching stage, the method of image placement and the method of instruction offering in the product-selecting stage, and the way of payment in the purchasing stage of products. Firstly, the present conditions of domestic shopping web sites for silver products were investigated and the evaluation models were designed and developed. With these developed models, a test group of 61 elderly users were given a task of searching for and purchasing a blood pressure gauge (sphygmomanameter). Afterwards, a comprehensive survey and an in-depth interview on their preferences concerning the web site design proposed. Based on the results of the preference study, a convenient and comfortable shopping web site design for elderly users is proposed when they purchase silver products through internet.
Launched by Samsung in 2003, nano-silver washing machines were a representative application of nanotechnology in commercial products until the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) decided to regulate companies that produce nano-silver products in 2006. A year later, however, the EPA reclassified the washing machines not as an application of nanotechnology but as an ion-generating machine. As shown by the EPA's equivocation on this issue, establishing a category for nano-silver material should be considered in the procedure of risk assessment and regulation. This paper analyzes the controversy over Samsung's nano-silver washing machines more in detail to study how the demarcation between silver ion and nano-silver can vary according to the risk perception of nanotechnology. In Korea and the US, the boundary between silver ion and nano-silver was malleable and mobilzed depending on the contexts. Based on an analysis of the recent history of nano-silver washing machines, this paper explores the influence of risk perception over the ontological perspectives on a certain material.

We demonstrate a facile route to synthesize silver chloride nanocubes and derivative nanomaterials. For the synthesis of silver chloride nanocubes, silver nitrate and hydrochloric acid were used as precursors in ethylene glycol, and poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) as a surfactant. Molar ratio of the two precursors greatly influenced the morphology and composition of the final products. As-synthesized silver chloride nanocubes showed size-dependent optical properties in the visible region of light, which is likely due to a small amount of silver clusters formed on the surface of silver chloride nanocubes. Moreover, we show for the first time that simple reduction of silver chloride nanocubes with different reducing reagents leads to the formation of delicate nanostructures such as cube-shaped silver-nanoparticle aggregates, and silver chloride nanocubes with truncated corners and with silver-nanograin decorated corners. Additionally, we quantitatively investigated for the first time the evolution of silver chloride nanocubes to silver chloride nanocubes decorated with silver nanoparticles upon exposure to e-beam. Our novel and facile synthesis of silver chloride related nanoparticles with delicately controlled morphologies could be an important basis for fabricating efficient photocatalysts and antibacterial materials.
In this paper, the recovery and nanoparticle synthesis of Ag from low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) by-products are studied. The effect of reaction behavior on Ag leaching conditions from the LTCC by-products is confirmed. The optimum leaching conditions are determined to be: 5 M $HNO_3$, a reaction temperature of $75^{\circ}C$, and a pulp density of 50 g/L at 60 min. For the selective recovery of Ag, the [Cl]/[Ag] equivalence ratio experiment is performed using added HCl; most of the Ag (more than 99%) is recovered. The XRD and MP-AES results confirm that the powder is AgCl and that impurities are at less than 1%. Ag nanoparticles are synthesized using a chemical reduction process for recycling, $NaBH_4$ and PVP are used as reducing agents and dispersion stabilizers. UV-vis and FE-SEM results show that AgCl powder is precipitated and that Ag nanoparticles are synthesized. Ag nanoparticles of 100% Ag are obtained under the chemical reaction conditions.
