누에 이면교잡에 의한 형질발현의 잡종강세와 약세 (Degrees of Heterosis and Inbreeding Depression of Quantitative Characters in Silkworm by Diallel Corsses)

  • 7개 누에 품종으로 이면교잡하여 42개의 조합의 F1, F2세대에 대한 양적형질의 잡종강세와 약세현상을 검정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 잡종강세가 대체로 높은 형질은 견사량이 F1, F2세대의 I·II집단에서 15.57-38.69%, 단견중과 견층중은 F1, F2세대의 I·II집단에서 각각 11.29-21.65%, 7.44-23.73%로 정의 유의인데 반하여 5령경과와 연감율은 F1, F2세대의 I·II집단에서 각각 -0.57--6.62%, -1.74--6.06%의 부로 유의하였다. 단견중, 견층중, 견사장, 견사량 등의 수량적 형질은 F1세대가 F2세대보다 또 교배 I집단이 교배 II집단보다 높은 강세를 보였다. 큰 친에 대한 Heterobeltiosis는 단견중이 F1세대의 I·II집단에서, 견사량이 F1세대의 I집단에서 각각 정으로 유의하였고, 5령경과, 견층비율, 연감율은 F1, F2세대의 I·II집단에서 각각 부로 유의하였다. Inbreeding depression현상은 견층비율과 연감율이 교배 I·II에서 유의하였다.

Microstructure of the Silk Spinning Nozzles in the Lynx Spider, Oxyopes licenti (Araneae: Oxyopidae)

  • The lynx spiders are free wandering spiders with long spines on their legs. They do not build web, but hunt small insects on plants. In spite of the facts that the wandering spiders do not produce webs for prey-catching, they also have silk apparatuses even though the functions are not fully defined. This paper describes the microstructural organization of the silk-spinning nozzles and its silk glands of the lynx spider, Oxyopes licenti, revealed by the field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The silkspinning nozzles of this spider were identified as three groups: ampullate, pyriform and aciniform glands. Each group of silk gland feed silk into one of the three pairs of spinnerets. Two pairs of major ampullate glands send secretory ductules to the anterior spinnerets, and another two pair of minor ampullate glands supply the middle spinnerets. In addition, the pyriform glands feed silk into the anterior spinnerets (25-30 pairs in females and 24-40 pairs in males), and the aciniform glands send ductules to the middle (9-12 pairs in females and 7-11 pairs in males) and the posterior spinnerets (16-20 pairs in females and 16-17 pairs in males). Among these, the ampullate one is the most predominate gland in both sexes. However the flagelliform and the aggregate glands which had the functions of cocoon production or adhesive thread production in other webbuilding spiders were not observed at both sexes of this spider.

Effect of Feeding Different Maturity Leaves and Intermixing of the Leaves on Commercial Characters of Bivoltine Hybrid Silkworm (Bombyx mori L.)

  • The study evaluated the influence of feeding different maturity leaves i.e., tender, medium, coarse and mixed leaves of three different maturity during late larval stages of new bivoltine race $(CSR_{3} {\times} CSR_{6})$. The data were compared with shoot feeding and control batches in which conventional feeding method was followed. The most of the larval and cocoon characters were recorded significantly higher in tender leaves fed batches followed by T4 batch (2 times tender and 1 time coarse leaves). Lowest melting percentage (1.494%) was recorded in T4 and highest (4.69%) was recorded in coarse leaf (T3) fed batches. Significantly higher post cocoon parameters viz., average filament length, non-breakable filament length, renditta and raw silk percentage were recorded in tender loaves fed batches.

  • A new silkworm variety, Chunsujam, for spring rearing season is F$_1$ hybrid between Japanese race Jam145 bred by 8459/8711 and Chinese race Jam146 by 8544/M8626. Jam145, Japanese parent of the Chunsujam, showed high GCA in pupation rate and Jam146, Chinese parent, showed high GCA in pupation rate and single cocoon weight. In the local adaptability test performed at 8 local areas in spring of 1999, Chunsujam was 5% higher in larval weight, 3% in single cocoon weight, and 4% in cocoon yield from 10,000 of the 3rd molted larvae, respectively, than the check variety Baegokjam.

  • 농약으로 오염된 뽕을 누에에게 급여했을 때 누에의 사육성적과 견질에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 살충제를 사용하여 실험한 결과 다음과 같은 몇가지 결과를 얻었다. 1. 1,000배액의 살충제를 뽕잎에 살포한 후 25일 자연 방치하였다가 급여하여도 감잠비율이 증가하였다. 2. 농약오염뽕의 누에첨식사육결과 사육성적에 미치는 영향은 살충제별로 차이가 있다. 3. Lebaycid의 첨식구에서는 탈항잠이 출현하였다. 4. 농약오염뽕의 누에첨식사육은 불정형견과 이상견사의 원인이 된다.

Effect of Hydrocortisone on the Economic Parameters of the Domestic Silkworm, Bombyx mori L.

  • The effect of topical application with hydrocortisone on economic parameters was analysed following treatment of last larval stadium. The treated larvae showed a significant increase in larval weight at higher concentrations along with other enhanced larval, cocoon and adult parameters. This suggests that hydrocortisone can be used effectively for commercial silkworm rearing. The larvas period was significantly increased in all the treated groups with increased female cocoon weights, its shell weights and male cocoon shell weight at 20$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml treated group. Filament length, weight and denier were increased significantly in all the treated groups. Moth emergence percentage, length of the ovariole, eggs per ovariole, fecundity and rind hatching percentage were unaffected when compared with that of the carrier control group. This suggests that hydrocortisone in addition to affecting larval growths also affect silk crop.

  • 세균성(細菌性) Sericinase를 생사(生絲)의 정련(精練)과 고치 해서(解舒)에 이용(利用)하고자 유용균(有用菌)을 분리(分離) 선별(選別)하였으며 이 균(菌)이 생성(生成)하는 Sericinase 의 여러 효소학적(酵素學的) 성질(性質)을 조사(調査)하여 생사정련(生絲精練)에 적용(適用)한 결과(結果)를 타정련법(他精練法)과 비교검토(比較檢討)하였다. 1. 생사정련작용(生絲精練作用)과 견제교작용(繭除膠作用)이 강(强)하며 견(絹) Fibroin에 대(對)해서는 전연(全然) 작용(作用)하지 아니하는 Sericinase를 생성(生成)하는 세균(細菌) 일주(一走)를 분리(分離) 선별(選別)하였다. 2. 본(本)균주(菌株)에 의(依)해 생성(生成)된 Sericinasedml 최적작용(最適作用) pH는 7.5에 위치(位置)하였으며 최적작용(最適作用) 온도는 $50^{\circ}C$였다. 이 온도(溫度)에서는 견섬유(絹纖維)의 modification 등(等)은 일어나지 않을 것으로 믿어지며 3. 본(本) 효소(酵素)는 free incubation에 있어서는 $Ca^{++}$이 효소실활(酵素失活)을 촉진(促進)하며 기질(基質)에 사용(使用)할 때는 Ca-oxalate 일 경우(境遇) 효소작용(酵素作用)을 촉진(促進)하므로 작잠등(?蠶等)으 해서(解舒)에 유용(有用)할 것으로 믿어지며 4. 본(本) 효소(酵素)는 견사(絹絲) 중(中)의 Sericin을 거의 완전(完全)하게 분해(分解)하는 것으로 믿어지며 5. 본(本) 효소(酵素)를 사용(使用)하여 졍련(精練)한 견(絹)을 조사(調査)한 바그 생사표면(生絲表面)의 상태(狀態), Fibroin의 손상(損傷), 촉감(觸感), 정련효과(精練效果) 등(等)이 타(他) 정련법(精練法) 즉(卽) 석감법, Alkali법(法), Alkali 석(石) 감법보다 우수(優秀)하였으며, 고급정련볍(高級精練法)에만 이용(利用)하는 papain이나 pancreatin과 같은 효과(效果)를 얻을 수 있으리라 기대(期待)된다.

Antioxidant potential of silk protein sericin against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in skin fibroblasts

  • The antioxidant potential of silk protein sericin from the non-mulberry tropical tasar silkworm Antheraea mylitta cocoon has been assessed and compared with that of the mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori. Skin fibroblast cell line (AH927) challenged with hydrogen peroxide served as the positive control for the experiment. Our results showed that the sericin obtained from tasar cocoons offers protection against oxidative stress and cell viability is restored to that of control on pre-incubation with the sericin. Fibroblasts pre-incubated with non-mulberry sericin had significantly lower levels of catalase; lactate dehydrogenase and malondialdehyde activity when compared to untreated ones. This report indicates that the silk protein sericin from the non-mulberry tropical tasar silkworm, A. mylitta can serve as a valuable antioxidant.

동물성 섬유에 대한 Lac 추출물의 염색성 (Dyeabilities of Lac Extract onto the Silk and Wool Fabrics)

  • Coocus laccae(Laccifer lacca Kerr), usually known as Lac, is a kind of cocoon which is parasitic on the tree around India and China. It contains the laconic acid of red colored dyes and has been used for cosmetic or natural dyeing prior to the introduction of New World cochineal. Nevertheless, the characterization of lac has not been studied, very little informed. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of dyeing conditions fur Lac extract, such as pH of dye bath, concentration of Lac exact dyeing temperature and time, to find out the optimum conditions. The results were as follow. 1. The highest K/S values of the silk and wool was shown at PH 3 and PH 4. 2. K/S values of the silk came to nearly the adsorption equilibrium state at 40$^{\circ}C$ and the curve of wool showed a dramatic increase with the increase of temperature. 3. Dyed silk and wool fabrics showed good light fastness without using mordants.
