흡착제에 의한 매립가스 중 휘발성 유기규소화합물(실록산) 제거특성 (Removal of Volatile Organic Silicon Compounds (Siloxanes) from Landfill Gas by Adsorbents)

  • 매립가스의 자원화를 저해하는 전처리 대상물질 중 하나인 유기규소화합물(실록산)에 대한 흡착제의 제거특성을 확인하기 위하여 실제 매립가스를 대상으로 야자계 활성탄, 석탄계 활성탄, 실리카겔, 탈황제, 슬러지탄화물, molecular sieve 13X의 여섯 가지 상용 흡착제 등을 사용한 흡착실험을 수행하였다. 흡착제별 실록산 제거특성을 확인한 결과, 야자계 활성탄은 흡착된 L2성분의 급격한 유출이 확인되었으나 전체적인 실록산 제거효율과 흡착특성을 고려할 때 가장 우수한 흡착제로 나타났다. 그러나 실록산의 제거효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있는 실리카겔의 경우에는 매립가스 중 D4와 D5 성분을 효과적으로 제거하였으나 L2성분은 흡착되지 않는 것으로 나타나 일부 실록산 성분의 제거효과만이 확인되었다. 한편, 야자계 활성탄을 직렬배열하였을 때, 처리된 매립가스의 실록산 함유정도와 농도변동의 주요인자인 L2성분을 비롯한 실록산 성분의 안정적인 제거가 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 실제 매립가스를 구성하고 있는 매우 다양한 성분들의 특성과 상호작용으로 흡착제의 실록산 제거특성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 효율적인 매립가스 자원화를 위해서는 흡착제와 대상물질 사이의 흡착특성과 함께 매립가스에 포함된 처리대상물질의 배출특성에 따른 전처리가 이루어져야 함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Silicone oil has organic and inorganic properties, and its skeleton is polysiloxane bonding that silicon is bonded hydrogen or organic group. Silicone compounds are very smooth and lubricant properties by low surface tension, low temperature dependence, and nonadhesive properties. Because of these properties, silicone compounds are used as many parts of chemicals, softener, smooth and libricant agents, water-repellent agent, and defoaming agent, etc. Emulsion was prepared with the inversion emulsification method which adopted the agent-in-oil method dissolving the polyoxyethylene(7) tridecyl ether(HLB 12.2) into methoxy terminated poly(dimethyl-co-methyl amino) siloxane and hydroxy terminated poly(dimethyl-co-methyl amino) siloxane in water. At this time, processed emulsion was almost microemulsion. When ratio of emulsifier increases, emulsion is stable bacuause microemulsion is solubilized by emulsion drop size and zeta-potential are decreased. But, when amount of electrolyte is increase, emulsion became unstable because emulsion drop size is increased.

  • [ $Febry-P{\acute{e}}rot$ ] 프린지 패턴 (fringe pattern)과 광발광성 (photoluminescence, PL)의 광학적 성질을 동시에 가지고 있는 다공성 실리콘을 이용하여 가스센서를 개발하였다. 다공성 실리콘 샘플은 p-type 실리콘 웨이퍼 (boron-doped, <100> orientation, resistivity $1{\sim}10{\Omega}$)를 이용하여 전기화학적 식각을 통하여 만들어 졌다. 다공성 실리콘 샘플들은 열적 산화 방법과 hydrosilylation 방법을 통하여 그 표면이 수소로 종결된 다공성 실리콘 (Si-H)과 산화된 다공성 실리콘(Si-OH), 두 가지 각각 다른 표면 성질을 갖는 다공성 실리콘을 제작 하였다. 준비된 두 가지 다른 다공성 실리콘 칩들은 메탄올, 아세톤, 헥산, 그리고 톨루엔의 증기에 노출 시켰을 때 Febry-P rot 프린지 패턴의 변화나 PL의 변화를 관측하여 다공성 실리콘을 이용한 VOCs (volatile organic compounds) 센서로서의 응용에 대하여 연구하였다. $Febry-P{\acute{e}}rot$ 프린지 패턴은 유기 물질의 증기압이 클수록 단파장으로 이동하는 폭이 컸고, 광 발광성은 극성도가 큰 물질일수록 소강현상이 크게 일어나는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • Silicon-containing ${\pi}$-conjugated compounds, especially silacyclopentadienes (siloles), have emerged as a new class of electroactive materials with good electron transport properties in OLEDs. 9,9'-spiro-9-silabifluorene compound as well as its starting material 2,2'-dibromobiphenyl have been synthesized with higher yields. Spirosilabifluorene is expected to be an efficient host material for the blue-light emitting diodes. 9,9'-spiro-9-silabifluorene, 1,1-dichloro-1-silafluorene, and 1,1-dimethyl-1-silafluorene were characterized by $^1H$-NMR, UV/Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy.

  • A series of trisilaalkanes has been prepared in high yields by the direct reaction of ${\alpha}$ -chloromethylsilanes with metallic silicon in the presence of copper catalyst using the stirred reactor equipped with a spiral band agitator at the carefully controlled temperature between $280^{\circ}C$ and $340^{\circ}C.$ Disilaalkane compounds were obtained as the minor products. Cadmium was found to be a good promotor for the reactions, while zinc was an inhibitor.

  • It has been investigated what kind of characteristic X-ray in electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA) is effective for the determination of compounds of Si series materials. After comparing the characteristic X-rays among the primary and secondary lines in $K_{\alpha}$ and $K_{\beta}$ obtained from the Si series standard samples, it was found that the secondary line of $K_{\alpha}$ exhibited the most informative spectrum although the intensity was considerably weak. As a result of analyzing the spectrum shapes of the Si series standard samples, the spectrum shape of the secondary line of $K_{\alpha}$ for SiC was different from those for other Si compounds. To grasp the characteristics of the shape, a line was perpendicularly drawn from the peak top to base line in order to divide a spectrum into two areas. The area ratio of right to left was defined to call as the asymmetry index here. As a result, the asymmetry index value of the SiC was greater than one, while those of other Si compounds were less than one. It was found from the EPMA analysis that identification of SiC became successful to distinguish from other Si compounds and this method was applicable for micro-sized compounds in a practical composite material.

  • The technology of $C_{60}$ fullerite films preparation by means of gas-phase deposition and structure of fullerite films are described. A three-channel flow plant was used to obtain fullerite films. The films were deposited in the flow of inert gas under reduced pressure onto a cooled silicon or sapphire substrate placed inside the reaction chamber of the plant. The plant allows one to obtain the films of pure fullerenes and to synthesise the films from fullerene compounds and doped fullerenes. The structure of two types of films were investigated by FE-SEM and SEM techniques: pure fullerite films onto silicon and sapphire substrates as well as compound films were studied by FE-SEM technique. All samples have shown columnar structure with high level of porosity. The synthesis of films composed of fullerene and its compounds for use in electronics is demonstrated to be promising. For example, experiments confirm the possibility to use fullerite films in sensor electronics to produce humidity and thermal sensors. It is also possible to use the sensitivity of these films to isotropic pressure. The experiments with $C_{60}$-Cu-J films have shown quite strong dependence of their resistance on pressure of different sort of medium-gas that could be used in gas-sensitive sensors. 전력용 변압기의 열화에 의해 생성된 부산물의 분석 (Analysis of Produced By-products Due to Oil/Paper Degradation on Power Transformers)

  • According to thermal degradation on power transformers, it is known that electrical, mechanical and chemical characteristics for power transformer's oil-paper are changed. In the chemical property, especially, when the kraft paper is aged, the cellulose polymer chains break down into shorter lengths. It causes decrease in both tensile strength and degree of polymerization of paper insulation. Also the paper breakdown is accompanied by an increase in the content of various furanic compounds within the dielectric liquid. It is known that furanic components in transformer oil come only from the decomposition of insulating paper rather than from the oil itself. Therefore the analysis of furanic degradation products provides a complementary technique to dissolved gas analysis for monitoring transformers when we evaluate the aging of insulating paper by the total concentration of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide dissolved in oil only. Recently, the analysis of furanic compounds by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) using IEC 61198 method for estimating degradation of paper insulation in power transformers has been used more conveniently for assessment of oil-paper. It is know that the main products which is produced by aging are 2-furfuryl alcohol, 2-furaldehyde(furfural), 2-furoic acid, 2-acetylfuran, 5-methyl-2-furaldehyde, and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde. For investigating the accelerated aging process of oil-paper samples we manufactured accelerating aging equipment and we estimated variation of insulations at $140^{\circ}C$ temp. during 500 hours. Typical transformer proportions of copper, silicon steel and iron have been added to oil-paper insulation during the aging process. The oil-paper insulation samples have been measured at intervals of 100 hours. Finally we have analyzed that 2-furoic acid and 2-acetylfuran products of furanic compounds were detected by HPLC, and their concentrations were increased with accelerated aging time.

Mechanical and thermodynamic stability, structural, electronics and magnetic properties of new ternary thorium-phosphide silicides ThSixP1-x: First-principles investigation and prospects for clean nuclear energy applications

  • Thorium compounds have attracted immense scientific and technological attention with regard to both fundamental and practical implications, owing to unique chemical and physical properties like high melting point, high density and thermal conductivity. Hereby, we investigate the mechanical and thermodynamic stability and report on the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of new silicon-doped cubic ternary thorium phosphides ThSixP1-x (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1). The first-principles density functional theory procedure was adopted within full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method. The exchange and correlation potential terms were treated within Generalized-Gradient-Approximation functional modified by Perdew-Burke-Ernzerrhof parameterizations. The proposed compounds showed mechanical and thermodynamic stable structure and hence can be synthesized experimentally. The calculated lattice parameters, bulk modulus, total energy, density of states, electronic band structure and spin magnetic moments of the compounds revealed considerable correlation to the Si substitution for P and the relative Si/P doping concentration. The electronic and magnetic properties of the doped compounds rendered them non-magnetic but metallic in nature. The main orbital contribution to the Fermi level arises from the hybridization of Th(6d+5f) and (Si+P)3p states. Reported results may have potential implications with regard to both fundamental point of view and technological prospects such as fuel materials for clean nuclear energy.
