  • Interlocking signalling chart must have no error and ensures a high availability for train operation. Interlocking signalling chart creation needs expert who has much experience to avoid errors, which can provoke some accidents. The CAD system for interlocking signalling chart can replace the expert because it can create the signalling chart without any errors if the creation logic being correct. We have developed the CAD system, present the basic algorithm in this paper.

  • In this paper a protocol design for bus network communication between onboard signalling system and MMI(Man Machine Interface) will be presented and illustrated. Recently, many onboard signailling systems adopt hot standby for safety reasons. Hot standby is a method of redundancy in which the primary and secondary systems run simultaneously. It is convenient to use bus network(bus topology) in a hot standby system for communication between onboard signalling system and MMI. Because bus network is the simplest way to connect multiple clients such as onboard signalling system, MMI and etc. However, there are many problems when two clients want to transmit at the same time on the same bus. A effective protocol is necessary to solve that problems. We will describes protocol design which is useful when onboard signalling systems and MMIs are connected via RS485(Bus Network).

  • This paper describes the test techniques that are used for the implementation test of signalling link function in the signalling system No.7 recommended by 0703 in CCITT red book. The test scenarios are produced by means of the state transition diagrams which are based on the specification of CCITT recommendation 0703. This test scenarios consist of five independent tasks written in MC68000 assembly language and are scheduled to be executed in multitasking kernel. This test scenarios can also be used to test signalling link function implemented in the different environment.

  • Various types of B-ISDN bearer connection can take place according to access types of endpoint equipments in call and number of connectio between endpoints. In this paper, performance of application signalling protocol on three basic facilities of B-ISDN CS-2 signalling system, such as connection of point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multiconnection call, is evaluated and compared. For performacne evaluation, experimental model of B-ISDN application signalling protocol is implemented and respective message processing time of each process is measured. By applying message processing time to local exchange system, cal processing capacity of application signalling protocol on three basic connection types is evaluated by simulation method. In this paper, local exchange system is considered to have two ATM NNI links and four ATM UNI links.

  • This study analysed testing method for performance verification in the phase of signalling system development for application in the Light Rail Transit(LRT). The main focus in this study therefore includes development of vehicle location detection system by first GPS and analysis of performance verification method by field testing. The comprehensive testing method has been analysed for the signalling system for LRT high speed operation. The signalling system for LRT high speed operation deals with vehicle location identification through vehicle location information using the second GPS and decision for whether the high speed proceed signal and departure inhibition output is feasible or not and for signalling output to the corresponding vehicle.

  • The need to conversion between NAS and CEPT networks has led to the development of PCM standards conversion techniques, especially signalling conversion techniques. This paper contains a brief description and general overview of channel associated signalling(CAS) of 24-channel system and of 30-channel system. The line signalling conversion algorithm between two systems and the transition detection algorithm of call status is proposed. And this paper presents the effective inplementation techniques of these algorithm.

  • As the European Union has strengthened and computerized signalling systems have been widely used, the European common standards for the safety of railway signalling systems such as EN 50126, EN 50128, ENV 50129, EN 50159 began to be published from 1996 in CENELEC. At that time, a safety guideline, 'Safety Guidelines for Computerized Train Control and Protection Systems' was published in Japan. The Korean National Railroad also published a safety recommendation for the train control systems with taking into account the Korean railway conditions. Now the preparations for IEC/TC9 Standards are well underway and these standards correspond to CENELEC Standards referred above. These movements and activities are to cope with many technical and operational changes and to reflect the globalization trend of railway sectors along with the computerization of signalling devices. In this connection, this paper studies the globaliztion trend in the safety standards for railway signalling systems and discusses the counterplans for the trend.

  • In railway signalling system, there are several kinds of signal system such as signals, signs, marker. The signals allows train to go or not, the signs permit to communicate between railway men, and the marks indicate status of railway lines. In KNR, the application of the signal systems are defined in railway operational regulations, operational related regulation, Operation safety critical system manipulation manual, and so on. In this paper, we extracted regulations for signalling system operation from related regulations, reviewed compatibility and contradiction for signalling system operations. We tried to check logical integrity of informal signalling operation regulation using formal method.

  • As the efficient management of the integrated network has been an important issue, the ITU-TS develops Telecommunication Management Network (TMN)and suggests standards to associate signalling network management with TMN. in this paper, we propose a method to manage signalling network, which is based on the standards. We suggest the TMN version SIGN(T_SIGNOS structure as a new Signalling Network OS(SIGNOS) structure and define the managed object classes in signalling network, and develop the Managed Information Base(MIB) to store the managed information of the object classes.

  • Since 2003, the domestic ground signalling system of the Kyeongbu and Honam lines has been steadily improving with the introduction of the ATP system and application of the system to the train is actively being pursued for 2009 target. Therefore, new ground signalling systems are being installed to the trains and track conditions to control the train speed to a maximum of either 80km/h, 120km/h, 150km/h, or 160km/h. As well, considering safe breaking distance, block signalling has been installed and also the change over times of the track switching device has been adjusted according to the train speed. Since the new Tilting trains will be running faster than present trains, at speeds over 180 km/h, we anticipate that there will be problems with present signalling facilities. Therefore this paper attempts to examine the various problems with the interface between the ATP signalling system and the new Tilting trains and also it will propose the most effective operating plan based upon case studies of successful foreign operations.
