  • GPS type portable-alarm-system is composed of satellite receiving equipment, signal transmission equipment, etc. Time errors occur because of the processing methods of the satellite receiving equipment and signal generator, the positional error of GPS itself, etc. With the recent rise of train speed, it becomes very important to secure the stability of portable-alarm-system from time errors, The present study estimated errors caused by the structure of portable-alarm-system, GPS errors. etc., and verified them. In addition, it examined the effects of such errors on portable-alarm-system according to train speed.

  • A wireless acoustic emission (AE) system has been developed for continuous monitoring of rotating structures such as turbine rotors. The cable between preamplifier and signal processing unit of a conventional AE system was replaced by the frequency modulated telemetry. The detected signals were modulated and transmitted as an RF signals by the transmitting module, then received and demodulated by the receiving module. The distance between the transmitting and the receiving antennas could be separated up to 10cm within a reasonable signal-to-noise ratio. The simulated AE signals generated by pencil lead breaks from rotating structures were successfully detected using the developed wireless AE monitoring system.

  • In the indirect optical bio-telemetry, high frequency response and low minimum detectable optical power can be achieved by using photodiode with small light receiving area which minimizes junction capacitance. But, on the other hand, S/N ratio becomes low because the optical signal current is small. To solve such a problem, we attach plato-convex lens in front of photo diode, The results of comput- er simulation and experiments suggest promotion of light receiving efficiency and possibility of multi- telemetry system through directivity of convex lens in one room.

  • The land mobile antenna for two-way communication using geostationary satellite consists of a transmitting and receiving systems. The transmitting system plays the role of sending the signal to the satellite while the receiving system does the role of receiving signal from the satellite and tacking the target satellite. Especially, the land mobile antenna for satellite communication must be met with the international regulation such as antenna pattern, transmitting power and tracking error to protect the damage of the neighbor satellites. On the other hand, this paper thoroughly examined a receiving system to satisfy a stable satellite tracking performance and antenna pattern specified by the international regulation for Ku-band geostationary satellite.

  • An antenna tracking technique, referred to as "step track", is commonly used in communication applications. In this paper, an algorithm to improve the step-tracking technique for satellite tracking is proposed. We suggest a method by which the antenna scans the azimuth, detects the satellite signal without the position information, and points quickly to the direction receiving the signal of peak level. After reaching the peak level, the step-track system maintains enough signal levels to receive satellite broadcasting normally. Performance of the Tracking Algorithm proposed in this paper are verified with simulation.

  • In this paper, development of the Image Transmission and Receiving System(ITRS) for UAV is being introduced. ITRS can tranfer the imagery informations from UAV to the multiple sites at the same time. Analog video signal is encoded by using MPEG4 protocol at the Image Transmission System, and the encoded digital video data can be transmitted to the various locations where the Image Receiving System decodes and displays the received video data. The ITRS might be a very efficient method of sharing UAV's information at a low cost.

  • In this paper, we developed a DTV RF (Radio frequency) capture, analysis, and regeneration system adapting digital signal processing and high speed hard disk interfacing techniques and analyzed characteristics of captured RF signal. This system can be used in the various field of DTV transmission because this system can capture the receiving real DTV signals and analyze captured RF signals that contain the complex characteristics of the real-world RF environments and regenerate it in a laboratory without the performance degradation. The system can capture and replay the DTV RF signals in real-time on hard disk. Therefore, there is no limit for the amount of captured data with in the installed storage capacity. We can expect various possible applications for this system such as a tool for the development of the receiver performance analysis, design, and analysis for the DTV coverage areas, etc. This system can also be used as RF signal analyzer.

  • "Side scan sonar" using acoustic signal has been developed to survey cable laying, sunken bodie\ulcorner bottom and so on. It use the acoustic signals, which are emitted from two transducer arrays, to get gemetri\ulcorner target area. This system consists of transceiver board, towed body, and deck unit. The transceiver board, w\ulcorner watertight canister of the towed body, controls the transmitting and receiving of 400kHz acoustic signals from \ulcorner After receiving the scattered signals, it processes the filtering, AGF(Automatic Gain Control), TVG(Time Heterodyne. The deck unit is composed of the signal processing part, A/D converter, power supplier, and real\ulcorner And the towed body has been designed to satisfy the optimal hydrodynamic behavior during towing. The de\ulcorner theory of transceiving part and some results from field-experiments will be introduced here.

  • As the accidents of cargo and passenger carrying ships occur, the stress faced by the vessel users is increasing. The risk factors for accident deterioration in remote marine area are stronger than those in road accidents, and therefore the need for safety control is greatly emphasized. To overcome such issue, a lot of effort has been made in terms of conducting research and development of the passengers and freights location tracking system. However, the inner bulkhead structures are made of aluminum/steel which is a difficult material to transfer location information through. This study aims to measure the receiving rate of LoRaWAN signal inside the aluminum/steel bulkhead structures with variation in reception strength and distance. The test was taken place at platforms with 6T and 8T enclosures to reflect the same conditions found in fishery patrol boats. The receiving rate of through-the-wall communication at 10M distance turned out to be 86% in case of using two 6T enclosures, and 73% in case of using one 8T enclosure. The result showed that the receiving rate was more affected by the thickness rather than the number of enclosures.
