In this paper, we propose a post-processing method to reduce the blocking artifacts. We perform the post-processing only in the spatial domain so that it is readily applicable to real-time video decoder. Many approaches proposed so far for deblocking deal with only The luminance signal. but here we propose processing the chrominance signals as well since the low bit rare application where the blocking artifacts are most problematic suffers significantly from the color misalignment caused by blocking artifacts occurring to chrominance data as well. The proposed method is composed of low pass filtering in two steps considering the edge direction. The first step is the IIR low pass filtering in the diagonal direction, and the second step is another IIR low pass filtering in horizontal and vertical directions.
This paper presents two algorithms based on the concept of the frequency domain adaptive filter(FDAF). First the frequency domain recursive least squares(FRLS) algorithm with the overlap-save filtering technique is introduced. This minimizes the sum of exponentially weighted square errors in the frequency domain. To eliminate discrepancies between the linear convolution and the circular convolution, the overlap-save method is utilized. Second, the sliding method of data blocks is studied Co overcome processing delays and complexity roads of the FRLS algorithm. The size of the extended data block is twice as long as the filter tap length. It is possible to slide the data block variously by the adjustable hopping index. By selecting the hopping index appropriately, we can take a trade-off between the convergence rate and the computational complexity. When the input signal is highly correlated and the length of the target FIR filter is huge, the FRLS algorithm based on the block processing technique has good performances in the convergence rate and the computational complexity.
This paper proposes a loose part monitoring system (LPMS) design with a signal processing method based on fuzzy logic. Considering fuzzy characteristics of metallic impact waveform due to not only interferences from various types of noises in an operating nuclear power plant but also complex wave propagation paths within a monitored mechanical structure, the proposed LPMS design incorporates the comprehensive relation among impact signal features in the fuzzy rule bases for the purposes of alarm discrimination and impact diagnosis improvement. The impact signal features for the fuzzy rule bases include the rising time, the falling time, and the peak voltage values of the impact signal envelopes. Fuzzy inference results based on the fuzzy membership values of these impact signal features determine the confidence level data for each signal feature. The total integrated confidence level data is used for alarm discrimination and impact diagnosis purposes. Through the perpormance test of the proposed LPMS with mock-up structures and instrumentation facility, test results show that the system is effective in diagnosis of the loose part impact event(i.e., the evaluation of possible impacted area and degree of impact magnitude) as well as in suppressing false alarm generation.
A new open-loop signal processing technique of digital phase tracking is known to have a Potential to solve the problems in the open-loop processor such as limited dynamic range, dependence on the optical intensity fluctuations, and dependence on gain fluctuations of signal path. But new problems with digital phase tracking must be solved before it can be a useful signal processing method. In this paper, barriers to the success of the digital phase tracking such as harmonics content, phase difference, amplitude variations of the phase modulation(PM) signal, bandwidth limit of the signal path, and the implementation of the mixer, are pointed out and their effects on the performance of the signal processor are analyzed to calculate the requirements of the signal processor for $1{\mu}rad$-grade FOG.

Several developed countries have been developing their own satellite navigation systems, such as Europe's Galileo, China's BEIDOU, and Japan's QZSS, to cope with clock errors and signal vulnerabilities of GPS. In addition, modernization of Loran, eLoran, for GPS backup has been conducted. In Korea, a dependent navigation system has been required and for GPS backup, the need for utilization of time synchronization infrastructure through the modernization of Loran has been raised. Loran signal uses 100Khz groundwave. A significant factor limiting the ranging accuracy of the Loran signal is the ASF arising from the fact that the groundwave signal is likely to propagate over paths of varying conductivity and topography. Thus, an ASF compensation method is very important for Loran and eLoran navigation. This paper introduces the propagation delay model and then compares and analyzes the estimations from the propagation delay model and measured ASFs.
This paper proposes a method that enables us to implement the recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm at, high throughput rate using fewer processing elements (PEs). It is known that the pipeline processing can provide a high throughput rate. But, pipelining is effective only when enough number of PEs are available. The proposed method achieves high throughput rate using a few PEs. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulations on programmable digital signal processors (in the following, DSP processors).

A post-processing technique for the measurement signal of a solenoid-type sensor is introduced. The solenoid-type sensor nondestructively evaluates an external tendon of prestressed concrete using the total flux leakage (TFL) method. The TFL solenoid sensor consists of primary and secondary coils. AC electricity, with the shape of a sinusoidal function, is input in the primary coil. The signal proportional to the differential of the input is induced in the secondary coil. Because the amplitude of the induced signal is proportional to the cross-sectional area of the tendon, sectional loss of the tendon caused by ruptures or corrosion can be identified by the induced signal. Therefore, it is important to extract amplitude information from the measurement signal of the TFL sensor. Previously, the amplitude was extracted using local maxima, which is the simplest way to obtain amplitude information. However, because the sampling rate is dramatically decreased by amplitude extraction using the local maxima, the previous method places many restrictions on the direction of TFL sensor development, such as applying additional signal processing and/or artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, the proposed method uses amplitude demodulation to obtain the signal amplitude from the TFL sensor, and the sampling rate of the amplitude information is same to the raw TFL sensor data. The proposed method using amplitude demodulation provides ample freedom for development by eliminating restrictions on the first coil input frequency of the TFL sensor and the speed of applying the sensor to external tension. It also maintains a high measurement sampling rate, providing advantages for utilizing additional signal processing or artificial intelligence. The proposed method was validated through experiments, and the advantages were verified through comparison with the previous method. For example, in this study the amplitudes extracted by amplitude demodulation provided a sampling rate 100 times greater than those of the previous method. There may be differences depending on the given situation and specific equipment settings; however, in most cases, extracting amplitude information using amplitude demodulation yields more satisfactory results than previous methods.

Low frequency noise components causes the baseline drift in the ECG signals. In this paper, a morphological operation and smoothing spline technique are used for ECG signal processing in order to accomplish baseline correction. Removing the baseline drift from ECG signal using morphology operation, the feature of original signal may be distorted. To resolve this distortion problem, we applied a smoothing spline operation after morphology operation. In order to compare with existing morphology operation method for baseline correction, we apply proposed method to ECG data in MIT/BIH database. Compared to other existing method, our proposed method achieved low data distortion on the original signal.

The abnormal combustion in the running engine results to knocking which increases the pressure and temperature in the cylinder, thereby decreasing the generated power by reducing the thermal efficiency. When the temperature and pressure in the cylinder increased rapidly by knocking, abnormal combustion takes place and the engine power is decreased. To investigate the knocking phenomenon, accelerometers are installed in the cylinder head to monitor and diagnose the vibration signal. As method of signal analysis, the time-frequency analysis method was adapted for acquisition of vibration signal and analyzes engine combustion in the short time. In this experiment, after analyzing time data which is stored in the signal recorder in one unit work (4 strokes: 2 revolutions), the signal with frequency and Wavelet methods with extracted one engine combustion data was also analyzed. Then, normal condition with no knocking signal is analyzed at this time. Hereafter, the experiments made a standard for distinguishing normal and abnormal condition to be carried out in acquisition of vibration signal at all cylinders and extracting knocking signal. In addition, analyzing methods can be diverse with Symmetry Dot Patterns (SDP), Time Synchronous Average (TSA), Wigner-Ville Distribution (WVD), Wigner-Ville Spectrum (WVS) and Mean Instantaneous Power (MIP) in the cold test [2]. With signal processing of vibration from engine knocking sensor, the authors adapted a part of engine /rotor vibration analysis and monitoring system for marine vessels to prevent several problems due to engine knocking

In fine-particle injection processing, hard fine particles, such as silicon carbide or aluminum oxide, are injected - using high-pressure air, and a small amount of material is removed by applying an impact to the workpiece by spraying at high speeds. In this study, a two-axis stage device capable of sequence control was developed to spray various shapes, such as circles and squares, on the surface during the micro-particle jetting process to understand the surface-shape micro-particle-processing characteristics. In the experimental device, two stepper motors were used for the linear movement of the two degree-of-freedom mechanism. The signal output from the microcontroller is - converted into a signal with a current sufficient to drive the stepper motor. The stepper motor rotates precisely in synchronization with the pulse-signal input from the outside, eliminating the need for a separate rotation-angle sensor. The major factors of the processing conditions are fine particles (silicon carbide, aluminum oxide), injection pressure, nozzle diameter, feed rate, and number of injection cycles. They were identified using the ANOVA technique on the design of the experimental method. Based on this, the surface roughness of the spraying surface, surface depth of the spraying surface, and radius of the corner of the spraying surface were measured, and depending on the characteristics, the required spraying conditions were studied.
