In this paper, commercial CFD program FLUENT v5.3 is used for simulation of MCFC stack. Besides using conservation equations included in FLUENT by default, mass change, mole fraction change and heat added or removed due to electrochemical reactions and water gas shift reaction are considered by adding several equations using user defined function. The stacks calculated are 6 and 25 kW class coflow stack which are composed of 20 and 40 unit cells respectively. Simulation results showed that pressure drop took place in the direction of gas flow, and the pressure drop of cathode side is more larger than that of anode side. And the velocity of cathode gas decreased along with the gas flow direction, but the velocity of anode gas increased because of the mass and volume changes by the chemical reactions in each electrodes. Simulated temperature profile of the stack tended to increase along with the gas flow direction and it showed similar results with the experimental data. Water gas shift reaction was endothermic at the gas inlet side but it was exothermic at the outlet side of electrode respectively. Therefore water gas shift reaction played a role in increasing temperature difference between inlet and outlet side of stack. This results suggests that the simulation of large scale commercial stacks need to consider water gas shift reaction.
Objective: This study was done to observe the effects on the thermal changes and side effects of Bee Venom acupuncture. The objectives are as follows; If there are remarkable local thermal changes between pre and post Bee Venom acupuncture therapy on D.I.T.I. or not. If there are those, we examine how long it' s changes are maintained, what is the adequate interval on Bee Venom acupuncture therapy, and what the reactions in a local or whole body are on that therapy. Methods: To study the local thermal changes in Bee Venom acupuncture therapy, D.I.T.I. was used. Determination of this analysis periods are pre and post-therapy(5 minutes, 1 hour, 1day,2days, 3days, 5days and 7days later). The study group was divided into two groups. One was BV group(N=19), another was NS(Normal Saline) group. The Bee Venom acupuncture was injected by 0.2ml divided into 0.05ml at the Fengmen(風門:12), Feishu(肺兪:B13), Fufen(附分:B41), Pohu(魄戶: B42) 4 points. Then, in order to analyze the clinical form, we have observed responses of 23 students whenever we checked the thermal changes of their after performing. Results: The following results were obtained. 1. In BV group, there was a significant dermatothermal difference between pre and post therapy. That difference was most remarkable in post-therapy 1 hour to lday, and was not remarkable in post-therapy 5-7days later. 2. There was no significant dermatothermal changes at NS group, but BV group had remarkable changes between operated and non operated area in post-therapy 1hour, 1day, 2days. But there was none 7 days later. 3. Among the physical reactions after Bee Venom acupuncture therapy, operated-area pain, itching, pain on moving and fatigue sign most appeared until post-therapy 3days. Itching and fatigue sign appeared until post-therapy 7days. 4. In comparison the dermatothermal changes with the physical reactions, the decrease of { CT = (Rt Temperature -Lt. Temperature) / Rt. $Temperature{\times}100$} and the disappearance of physical reactions were about the same.

During the industrial preparation and the storage of foods, the side chain of some protein-bound amino acids can react chemically each other or with other molecules present in the food. The following reactions have been described : destruction of amino acids, racemization, protein-protein interactions, reactions of proteins with reducing sugars, oxidizing agents, or polyphenols. Apart from total destruction, the main reacitons are the forming of Maillard reactions products(e.g. fructoselysine) and the crosslinking with other amino acids in the same or in another protein molecule(e.g. lysinoalanine). The most often involved amino acid is lysine because of its free functional ${\varepsilon}-amino$ acid group. Generally derivatives of amino acids or crosslinks in polypeptides influence the bioavailability and the overall digestibility of the protein. This work reviews the technological, analytical, nutritional, and physiological problems related to the formation of fructoselysine and lysinolalnine in human foods, and evaluates the possible health risk for humans. A summary of the available information is of help in considering whether or not the presence of fructoselysine/lysinoalanine in foods represents a danger to man. The reduction in protein quality through these reactions is not a problem for the general population, but it is extremely important in infant foods, since infants are often nourished with a limited number of food product(e.g. formular foods) which are sensitive to the Mailard reaction.
Erythema multiforme (EM) is an inflammatory immune-mediated mucosal disease. EM is classified as EM minor or EM major, depending on the severity of symptoms. Most patients with minor or major forms of EM have oral lesions. EM can occur as a result of adverse drug reactions but this is difficult to establish. Several indicators have been developed that can be used as a criterion of evaluation to ensure objectivity in identifying the causality of adverse drug reactions. The Naranjo algorithm was used in the evaluation to ensure objectivity in identifying the causality of adverse drug reactions. There were two cases of patients suspected of having EM induced by drugs. They were both assessed using the Naranjo algorithm to confirm the causality of the disease.
Rubbers, such as natural rubber, polybutadiene, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile-butadiene rubber, chlorinated rubber and EPDM, have been continuously improved in response to a heavy demand and a new property requirement from industry. One of the best ways to realize the improvement is the modification of rubbers through chemical reactions, which produce materials with novel properties. In this review, chemical modification reactions of rubbers that contain carbon-carbon double bond units either in their main backbone or as a side group were briefly summarized. The chemical reactions introduce functional groups or functional polymer chains to polymer backbone, which transform a classical rubber to a highly functional material. Especially, we focused on a controlled/"living" radical polymerization techniques, with which a revolutionary broadening of the spectrum of the materials with well defined molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, chain end-functionality and architectures become possible.

Vinyl acetate monomer can be polymerized through bulk, solution, emulsion, and suspension polymerization processes. However, in the preparation of PVA from bulk or solution polymerization, there are several technical limitations for obtaining high yield and high molecular weight simultaneously. Thus, the improvement of polymerization method is necessary to prepare the PVA with high yield and high molecular weight because that the difficulty in control of high viscosity and in removal of the heat of polymerization, which might lead to side reactions like branching. The liquid phase oxidation of p-xylene has been carried out with oxygen-enriched gas, and the manganese component was precipitated probably via over-oxidation to $Mn^{4+}$. The precipitation increased with rising oxygen concentration in the reaction gas and occurred mainly in the later part of the oxidation. The activity of the reaction decreased, and the blackening of the product and side reactions to carbon dioxide increased with the degree of precipitation. Precipitation can be decreased with the addition of metal ions, such as cerium, chromium and iron.
Twelve new N-piperoyl amino acids were synthesized by acylation of amino acids with piperoylchloride in order to develop the new central nervous depressants. Silylation of the carboxylic group of amino acids not only precluded side reactions but-also facilitated acylation at room temperature without catalysts. The acute toxicity of all the synthesized compounds were lower than that of piperine itself, whereas they showed strong protective effect against the strychnine-induced mortality.
Objectives This study aims to report inflammatory reactions of Pharmacopuncture lubricants (CF and JsD) when administered on GB21, GB20, and TE23 in clinical trials. Methods Follow-up studies were made on each patient's clinical observation and specific managemen. Results 1. Inflammation induced by pharmacopuncture lubricants were limited to local area of administration. 2. Intensity of inflammation was depended on the patient's condition. 3. Inflammation caused pain, skin flare, and discomfort on the patient. Inflammation subsided when dissipating technique was rendered with the conventional acupuncture needle. Conclusions It appears that prolonged usage of pharmacopuncture lubricant on the specific point can induce inflammation, thus using alternative pharmacopuncture is recommended.

Strong oxidizing biocides are commonly used to control biofilm formation in alkaline papermaking systems. However, paper streams contain many substances that react with or consume oxidizers (e.g., fiber and starch, Therefore, to achieve effective microbiological control, the oxidizer must be overfed to overcome the effect of these substances. When dosed in this manner, the oxidizer can cause many unwanted reactions and adverse side effects, including the consumption of costly papermaking additives increased corrosion rates, and reduced felt life. Some oxidizers also contribute to the formation of halogenated organic compounds. When used for biofilm control, strong oxidizers can cause more problems than they remedy. A patented biocide that effectively controls biofilm without the adverse side effects associated with strong oxidizing biocides is available from Hercules. $Spectrum^{(R)}$ XD3899 Ammonium Bromide Technology, which can be described as a mild oxidizer, is currently used on more than 300 machines globally and has resulted in numerous production and/or machine efficiency records since its introduction in 2001.
