에너지 방법을 이용한 삼차원 절삭력의 이론적 여측에 관한 연구 (A study on the Theoretical of Three Dimensional Cutting Force Used Energy Method)

  • The purpose of this paper is to predict the cutting force, utilizing new model of double cutting edge which has normal rake angle and tool inclination angle. Changing side, back rake angle and side cutting edge angle in the new model. Three dimensional cutting force was obtained by the use of .eta. /c=i proposed by Stabler and energy method for three dimen- sional cutting force. Theoretical results has been calculated with development of optimization algorism which can be put into three dimensional theory, using the method of least square with orthogonal cutting data. IT is proved that three dimensional cutting force is to be predicted accurately only if orthogonal cutting force by equalizing theoretical result and experimental result has been calculated.

STS 304 선삭시의 공구마멸 특성 (Tool-Wear Characteristics in Turning of STS 304)

  • The effect of tool geometry on the tool wear in turning the austenitic stainless steel, STS 304 was investigated. The wear of TiN-TiCN-TiC-TiAlN coated tungsten carbide tool was the smallest, showing larger wear in the order of Si-Al-O-N ceramic, TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiN- TiCN- TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiC-TiN cermet and M20 tungsten carbide tools at the same cutting conditions. The S-type tool of M20 with the larger side cutting edge angle showed the smallest tool wear in all tests due to preventing the groove wear of the side cutting edge. The wear of the S-type tool with the rake angle of $15^{\circ}$ became smaller than with that of $-5^{\circ}$, but the tool with the nose radius of 0.8mm did not perform much better with increasing the rake angle.

  • Recently, the development of CNC machine tools seems to bring about progressional high speed, precision and automation in cutting processing, but is unlikely to avoid the generation of burr arising from plastic deformation, which may result in deterioration of improvement in the precision and productivty of products. In this study, Experiment has been carried out to prevent and decrease the grinding burr under various working conditions ; working speed, side cutting edge, back rake angle, disengage angel.

Analysis of 3-D Cutting Process with Single Point Tool

  • This study presents a procedure for analyzing chip-tool friction and shear processes in 3-D cutting with a single point tool. The edge of a single point tool including a circular nose is modified to an equivalent straight edge, thereby reducing the 3-D cutting with a single point tool to the equivalent of oblique cutting. Then, by transforming the conventional coordinate systems and using the measurements of three cutting force components, the force components on the rake face and shear plane of the equivalent oblique cutting system can be obtained. As a result, the chip-tool friction and shear characteristics of 3-D cutting with a single point tool can be assessed.

  • STD11 is one of difficult-to-cut materials and its cutting characteristic data is not built enough. A bad cutting condition of it leads to low productivity of die and mould, so it is necessary to evaluate the machining characteristics of STD11. In this paper, the relations of the geometry of ball-end mill and mechanics of machining with it are studied. The helix angle of ball-end mill varies according to a location of elemental cutting edge in the cutting process are difficult to calculate accurately. To calculate instantaneous cutting forces, it is supposed that the tangential, radial and axial cutting force coefficients are functions of elemental cutting edge location. Elemental cutting forces in the x,y and z direction are calculated by coordinate transformation. The total cutting forces are calculated by integrating the elemental cutting forces of engaged cutting edge elements. This model is verified by slot and side cutting experiments of STD11 workpiece which was heat-treated to HRC45.

  • 본 연구에서는 절삭가공시 생성되는 칩의 형상해석의 일환으로 2차원 절삭시 칩은 절삭날에 수직한 방향으로 공구경사면을 흘러간다는 기본적인 전제조건과 Kluft 등의 칩흐름각 예측에 대한 제안중 노으즈반경(nose radius) 및 기울임각의 영향을 중 첩시키고, 또한 절삭날에 연하여 미변형 칩두께(undeformed chip thickness)가 달라지 는 경우 칩흐름의 세기는 이에 비례한다는 Baart등의 가정을 도입하여 칩흐름각에 대 한 새로운 해석을 시도하였다.

초듀랄류민(A2024-T3)의 절삭거동에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Cutting Behavior of Super Duralumin(A2024-T3))

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the cutting behaviour of super duralumin (A2024-T3) with sintered carbide tool(P20). The cutting test was carried out under different conditions such as cutting speed, cutting depth and rake angle, etc. The specific cutting force Kc and Kt of vertical and radial forces decreases as cutting speed increases, especially the decrease rate of Kt becomes larger than of Kc as cutting speed increases. Kc and Kt in small cutting depth are much affected by work-hardening of surface layer. The chip width and shear angle become layer as cutting depth increases, especially chip width at feed of 0.1mm almost approaches cutting width. Relation between the friction coefficient of chip side and tool rake angle side can make the modelization studying the built-up edge size. The shear angle model equation of super duralumin generally agree with theory of Ernst-Merchant.

  • Machinability in metal cutting processes depends on cutting input conditions such as cutting velocity, feed rate, depth of cut, types of work material and tool shape factors. In this study, to assess chip breaking characteristics of a turning process, an equivalent oblique cutting system to this has been established. And the equivalent effective rake angle was determined using side rake angle, back rake angle and side cutting edge angle of the tool. A non-dimensional parameter, Chip breaking index(CB), was used to assess Chip breaking characteristics of chip in conjunction with the equivalent effective rake angle. In case of positive rake angles of the equivalent effective rake, the back rake angle has little effect on the chip breaking characteristics however, in case of negative ones, the side rake angle has some effect on Chip breaking characteristics.

  • The austenitic STS 304 stainless steel was turned to clarify the effects of tool geometry on the tool wear. The wear of TiN-TiCN-TiC-TiAlN coated tungsten carbide tool was the smallest, exhibiting larger wear in the order of Si-Al-O-N ceramic, TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiN-TiCN-TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiC-TiN cermet and M20 tungsten carbide tools at the same cutting conditions. The S-type tool of M20 with large approach angle showed the longest tool life of all tools used in this tests due to preventing the groove wear of the side cutting edge. The wear of the S-type tool with the rake angle of 15$^{\circ}$became smaller than with that of -5$^{\circ}$, but the tool with the nose radius of 0.8mm did not perform much better with increasing the rake angle.
