CFD를 이용한 자동차 사이드 미러의 공력특성 연구 (A Study of Aerodynamic Characteristics of a Car's Side-view Mirror using CFD)

  • Aerodynamic characteristics, such as drag and lift, play an important role in automobile design under certain speed conditions. Such characteristics are essential to design an automobile since they are directly related to automobile's performance such as passenger safety and fuel consumption. There is a huge demand for the automobile to have safe performance at high speed. Reduction in drag is also important and it could lead to the solution of air flow induced noise and dust problems. The objective of this research is to find out the aerodynamic differences between conventional side mirror and a modified one using CFD. Although drag generated around a side mirror is only about 7% of the total drag when a car runs, it is very closely related to driver's field of vision and noise generation. CFD simulation of the flowfield around a car side-view mirror was performed using a commercial code; Gambit and FLUENT.

차량의 사각 지대 제거를 위한 측/후방 카메라 영상 정합 시스템 (A Side-and Rear-View Image Registration System for Eliminating Blind Spots)

  • 본 논문에서는 세 대의 카메라를 이용하여 사각지대를 효과적으로 제거하기 위한 파노라믹 비전 시스템(panoramic vision system)을 제안한다. 차량의 후방에는 광각 카메라를 사용하여 후방 거울(rear-view mirror)로부터 보이지 않는 사각지대를 제거하며, 나머지 두 대의 카메라는 측면 거울(side-view mirror)의 아래에 설치하여 측면 거울로 보지 못하는 사각지대를 제거한다. 좀 더 효과적인 사각지대 제거를 위해서 세 대의 카메라에서 얻어지는 영상을 정합하는 방법을 제공한다. 먼저, 후방 카메라에서 얻은 영상을 보정하고, 보정된 영상에서 focus-of-contraction(FOC)을 구한다. 그 뒤에 측방 카메라의 영상과 후방 카메라의 영상 사이의 호모그래피(homography)를 구한다. 그 다음으로 영상을 차도와 배경 영역으로 분리하고, 호모그래피를 사용하여 분리한 차도를 정합하고, 가상의 평면에 배경을 투영하여 최종정합을 완성한다. 마지막으로 정합된 영상을 보다 효과적으로 보여주기 위한 실린더 파노라마 영상, 가상의 Top-view 시스템, 그리고 차량의 다양한 정보와 함께 사각지대 영상을 보여주는 통합 정보 가시화 영상을 생성하여 제공한다.

  • This paper describes the analysis of flow and aeroacoustic field around a car-like body. The governing equations, 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, are solved with the iterative time marching scheme. The Chimera grid technique has been applied to efficiently simulate the flow around the side-view mirror, After the flow field analysis has been converged, the aerodynamic noise analysis of the side-view mirror has been performed by solving Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings equation. From the present numerical simulation, the A- and C-pillar vortex are evidently shown and the aerodynamic noise level induced by the side-view mirror is predicted to about 100dB.

Chimera 격자기법을 이용한 자동차 주위의 유동장 해석 (Analysis of the flow field around an automobile with Chimera grid technique)

  • This paper describes the analysis of flow field around an automobile. The governing equations of the 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the iterative time marching scheme. The Chimera grid technique has been applied to efficiently simulate the flow around the side-view mirror. To validate the capability of simulating the flow around a ground vehicle, the flows around the Ahmed body with 12.5$^{\circ}$ and 30$^{\circ}$ of slant angles are simulated and good agreements with experiment and other numerical results are achieved. To validate Chimera grid technique, the flow field around a cylinder was also calculated. The computed results are also well agreed with other numerical results and experiment. After code validations, the flow phenomena around the ground vehicle are evidently shown. The flow around the side-view mirror is also well simulated using the Chimera grid technique.

사각방지용 자동차 측면거울의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Sculptured surface mold by using CAM system)

  • In this paper based on geometric optics and geometric modeling aspheric surface of the side mirror mold with dead angle reduced have been designed and machined in a CNC machining center, Surface roughness of the mold was evaluat-ed by usin the surface shaping system. Surface generating simulation of a ball endmill process is investigated. Through the simulation based on the surface-shaping system 3-D engineered surfaces and properties of engineered surfaces are obtained, Computer simulation provides the effective working conditions through the prediction of geometric properties of engineered surfaces. The rear view mirror and room mirror play important role on the safe driving condition as a observation of environment but the rear view mirror can not provide complete information of driving environments due to the existence of the dead angle. The analysis on the shape of formed mirror shows that the proposed me? improves range of a driver's sight.

  • Most autonomous mobile robots view things only in front of them. As a result they may collide against objects moving from the side or behind. To overcome the problem we have built an Active Omni-directional Range Sensor that can obtain omni-directional depth data by a laser conic plane and a conic mirror. Also we proposed a self-localization algorithm of mobile robot in unknown environment by fusion of Odometer and Active Omn-directional Range Sensor.

  • The car requires an inside mirror installed between the driver's seat and the passenger's seat to ensure the driver's rear and side view of the driver. Inside mirrors must always be attached to the vehicle to ensure the driver's visibility. Inside mirrors attached to the windshield of a vehicle are always exposed to direct sunlight and should be semi-permanently usable in hot and humid summer weather in Korea. Therefore, the mirror mount, which is the junction of the inside mirror, is particularly important in corrosion resistance and wear resistance suitable for humidity. Mirror mounts are currently difficult to manufacture due to their reliance on powder molding technology in advanced countries such as Japan and Germany. This paper focuses on the fabrication of high corrosion resistant stainless mirror mounts by vacuum sintering technique and focuses on the selection of materials suitable for the production of mirror mounts through experiments of 300 series stainless steel and 400 series stainless steel manufactured by vacuum sintering.

단일 카메라 입자영상유속계를 이용한 이상유동 기포율 측정방법 (On the Measurement Technique of Void Fraction by Single Camera Two Phase PIV)

  • A measurement technique for the void fraction and the bubble dynamics in gas-liquid two-phase flows has been proposed using a time-resolved two-phase PIV system. For the three-dimensional evaluation of the bubble information, both the images from the front and side views are simultaneously recorded into a high speed CCD camera by reflecting the side image into the front view with the help of a $45^{\circ}$ oriented mirror. Then, a stereo-matching technique is applied to calculate the void fraction, bubble size and shape. To obtain the rising bubble velocities, the 2-frame PTV method was applied. Consequently, the present technique shows good feasibility for the measurements of the volume fractions, mean diameters, aspect ratios and velocities of the bubbles at the three-dimensional point of view.

RFID 태그용 루프형 다이폴 안테나의 지향성 설계 (A Directivity Design of Loop Type Dipole Antenna for RFID Tag)

  • 이 논문은 차량용 사이드 미러에 적합한 광대역 RFID 태그안테나를 설계하고, 차체에 의한 지향성의 특성을 제시한다. 제안된 태그 안테나는 인식거리와 광대역 특성을 향상시키기 위해 대칭 구조로 설계되었다 제안된 태그 안테나($30\;mm{\times}24\;mm{\times}1\;mm$)는 910 MHz에서 공진하며 대역폭은 780 MHz($540\;MHz{\sim}1320\;MHz$)를 가진다. 칩 임피던스는 16 - $j131\;{\Omega}$이고, 상용 칩의 복소 공액 임피던스가 태그 안테나의 설계에 사용되었다. 제안된 태그 안테나는 차량의 사이드 미러의 내부에 위치한다. 사이드 미러의 유전율뿐만 아니라 차체(도체)에 대한 태그 안테나의 효과를 평가하기 위해, 지향패턴 측정과 인식거리가 계산되고 측정되었다. 차량용 RFID 시스템을 위한 최적의 위치가 사이드 미러 내부에서 관측되었으며, 계산된 결과들은 측정된 결과들과 잘 일치하였다.
