  • This study discusses the fundamental properties of high performance concrete and autogenous drying shrinkage with the kinds and the adding amount of superplasticizer. According to results, drying shrinkage hardly shows differences by the kinds of superplasticizer, and is reduced with an increase of the adding ratio. Autogenous shrinkage is reduced in order of HP>HN>HM, but does not make a big difference. As the adding amount of superplasticizer increases, autogenous shrinkage is reduced due to a decrease of cement content which influences on autogenous shrinkage seriously.

  • Shrinkage properties of drawn textured Poly(trimethylene terephthalate, PTT) yarn, which has been developed recently, were investigated to provide fundamental information for the textile industry. Shrinkage ratio characteristics on PTT yarn with six different count were investigated with tension, dry and wet thermal temperature. In non-tension, the shrinkage ratio were increased to increasing temperature at dry and wet thermal treatment, and in tension, the shrinkage ratio were increased to increasing tension at dry and wet thermal treatment.

  • This study surveys relation between thermal shrinkage and thermal stress properties after process simulation of heat treatment with various PET filament yarns. For this purpose, 12 kinds of regular yarns and POY, 6 kinds of DTY and 5 kinds of composite yarns were experimented for investigating step thermal shrinkage, total thermal shrinkage and total thermal stress and maximum thermal stress temperature. Thermal stress and shrinkage of the various specimens treated with wet and dry heats were analysed and discussed with the conditions of heat treatment. finally, relationship between thermal stress and shrinkage of the various PET filaments such as regular yarns, POY, DTY and composite yarns were investigated with the PET filament characteristics.

  • This paper investigated the drying and autogenous shrinkage of high performance concrete(HPC) with mixture adjustment under various specimen size. For fresh concrete properties, HPC with mixture adjustment need a higher dosage of SP agent due to fluidity reduction, and a larger dosage of AE agent due to the reduction of air content. HPC with mixture adjustment exhibited a smaller strength development than control HPC. For drying shrinkage, an increase in specimen size occurred with small expansion during water curing and at air curing, less drying shrinkage was observed. Autogenous shrinkage was not affected by specimen size. Autogenous shrinkage of HPC with mixture adjustment exhibited less than half of control HPC.

  • The effects of fillers [talc, calcium carbonate, glass fiber, and EBR (ethylene-butene rubber)] on the shrinkage and mechanical properties of injection-molded polypropylene composites were investigated. The shrinkage correlated with the shape of the filler particles: at the same amount added, glass fibers with a large aspect ratio had the greatest effect on the shrinkage of polypropylene composites, followed by flake-shaped talc and granular calcium carbonate. It was confirmed that the addition of EBR rubber as an impact strength modifier reduced shrinkage proportionally to the added content. In addition, the addition of glass fiber resulted in the greatest increases in tensile and flexural strengths.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shrinkage properties of a tile reinforced with epoxy resin, which has the advantages of high adhesion and low shrinkage, and causes a hardening reaction by chemical bonding with cement mortar. As a result, since the epoxy resin adhesive suppresses the moisture evaporation of the mortar, the drying shrinkage of the mortar itself is reduced, accordingly, the shrinkage of the tile itself is greatly reduced, and it is thought that it is possible to prevent a decrease in adhesion due to shear stress.

  • CFRD(Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam) face slab concrete has a much capability to occur crack due to drying shrinkage, plastic shrinkage and bad compaction etc. Because of these cracks of concrete induce structural problem and decrease durability of dam, it is need to reduce crack of face slab concrete. This is an experimental study to analyze the influence factors on crack properties of CFRD face slab concrete. For this purpose, various mix proportion of CFRD face slab concrete and concrete using PPF(polypropylene fiber0 and fly ash was selected. And tests for drying shrinkage, bonding strength, water permeability and plastic shrinkage were performed, and then CFRD D and PPC of those mix proportion were placed in CFRD field. According to test results, it was found that the bonding strength of C1(compact sufficiently) was higher about 10~20% than that of C2(compact insufficiently). And the engineering properties of PPC(concrete using PPF) and FAC(concrete using fly ash) were better than those of the others ; the permeability of PPC and FAC after 8 weeks curing was little lower than that of CFRD D, and plastic shrinkage crack of PPC and FAC was lower 40~60% than crack of CFRD D.

  • Comparing with traditional high performance concrete, ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) has the property of high-tenacity. However, drying shrinkage and autogenous shrinkage can be arisen as the major defect to UHPC. In this study, therefore, it was tested to reduce drying shrinkage and autogeneous shrinkage by adding expanding admixture (EA) and shrinkage reducing agent (SRA). As a result, for a case drying shrinkage, the shrinkage was decreased by 94% when EA was exchanged, and it was decreased by 64% when SRA was added. For the case of autogenous shrinkage, the mortar was expanded at early age and the shrinkage was decreased by 87% when EA was exchanged, and the shrinkage was decreased by 70% when SRA was added.

  • In general, the shrinkage occurring in the floor mortar is large the influence by the dry shrinkage. In order to reduce the cracks occurring in the floor mortar, studies of physical methods are often performed, but these methods is difficult to prevent cracking of the floor mortar essentially. Therefore, in this study, the dry shrinkage properties of floor mortar of gypsum and red clay type using alpha-hemihydrate gypsum had been evaluated. The experimental variables were cement mortar(CM), gypsum mortar(GM), red-clay mortar(RM), the evaluation items was conducted experiment to evaluate the setting time, the compressive strength, drying shrinkage cracks, the dry shrinkage. As a result, it was confirmed that condensation time of GM is shorter that that of CM, and GM satisfied the compressive strength of the floor mortar standard. Also shrinkage deformation of GM reduced more than the CM.

  • In Japan, ultra-low shrinkage concrete has been developed and commercialized to control drying shrinkage cracks to the limit. However, in the case of South Korea, the study on this technology has not yet been conducted in earnest. Therefore, the study was conducted for the development of ultra-low shrinkage concrete to control the drying shrinkage crack of concrete to the limit, and in this study, after determining the mixture of ultra-low shrinkage concrete, a wall type mock-up specimen was produced to observe the shrinkage behavior of ultra-low shrinkage concrete.
